Joe Montana Football 16

Madden is not relevant AT ALL but it is a name...and Joe Montana football has memories for 30yo and older gamers who buy a lot of Madden games. the cover boy will undoubtedly be current/relevant.

If it's real... I hope, I hope

Exactly. Young kids who played Joe Montana are not that old at all. Hitting that nostalgic nerve with an audience that never stopped playing can only be a good thing. And if it turns out great and gives Madden a run for it's money then everyone else will probably jump in regardless.

No NFL license would make me way more interested. That way the NFL can't step in with its no fun allowed BS. A football game isn't fun to me if necks aren't snapping and testicles aren't exploding.

No NFL license would never sell...All-Pro Football 2K8 proved that. It literally hit bargain bins less than two weeks after launch.

Joe Montana was also never that ripped.

jeff garcia pillowtalk '16 needs to be released!

at $60 it won't. This thing will be DOA if they try to go head to head with Madden at $60.

Even at the bargain bin price of 20 it won't sell. Too many other things to steal your attention away these days. Madden barely holds its own crowd these days for more than a month.

The Golf Club devs made back their development money in just 3 months. Without having HUGE NFL and NFLPA licenses to pay, this game can sell a fraction of EA's junk NFL game and be very successful. So long as it plays like real football, as opposed to Tiburon's style of football, I'm all in.

No NFL license is a pass for me.

...which is why Madden is the way it is.

Same shit with wrestling games. The gameplay can be absolute ass as long as THE PEOPLE'S CHAMPION THE ROCK VERSUS BRRRRRRRRRR APPLEDOUGH are in the game with the official theme songs and entrances. It would be nice to have a sports game that caters to people who like the video game version of the sport instead of the official licenses
other than PES
.

Highly, highly interested in this. I couldn't care less about the NFL but a great football game on console would be aces.

NFL2K had the license and it literally hit the bargain bin on release day.

Nonsense. NFL2K's sales success is what caused EA to panic and overpay for the exclusive licenses. EA was so afraid they did the only thing they could to put their competition out of business. And us consumers have suffered the last 11 years as a result.

Is this what you actually think happened?

2K scared the fucking shit out of EA with the quality of the game and the price tag. That's why we've been getting garbage football games for 10 straight years now.

It debuted at $19.99 and scared the *BLEEP* out of EA, which then bought the NFL license to kill all competition.

Well their's also the talk that the NFL didn't like having a "discount" version of their product and put the license exclusivity up for the highest bidder (which happened to be EA)..

I agree. That's why I rooted for Backbreaker but just couldn't get into it. I wish someone would make a fully customizable Tecmo Super Bowl. No license needed.

I wouldn't understand it if it all came true...

MS being the official sponsor of the NFL releasing a football game that lacks any mentioned of the NFL in collaboration with a studio, 2K, that already failed in this exact scenario. My understanding is the game is supposed to bring in an audience towards Windows 10 and Xbox One but I don't see it at all.

And that talk's been proven false by the documents released in the lawsuit brought by Pecover against EA. It's a fact that EA approached the NFL (Goodell's the guy they made the pitch to).

If they just released a solid football game with great gameplay and mechanics, then slap a Forza-style editor on top of it where everything is just "layers", then do it. Let the community do the work for nothing. You'll have every NFL team made with full 53 man rosters and accurate pads and accessories within 24 hours of the games release. Add in unlimited player customization (NOT the bullshit "Bronze/Silver/Gold" management of All-Pro Football 2K8) and you've done what everyone is clamoring for.

Like the example above about wrestling games, just give us the foundation of a great game version of the sport and let the community do the heavy lifting when it comes to customization.

Doesn't change the fact that NFL2K released at bargain bin prices on day one, which I'm sure the NFL loved. They rightfully see themselves as a premium league, and 2K's price war with EA cheapened their product.

i don't think it's that easy. i doubt whatever developer is making this is getting the funding to create great gameplay year 1. game will probably be pretty mediocre on the field but the graphics might be good?

Joe Montana, the greatest QB to ever play the game, has arisen to save gamers from a decade of that pestilence known as Madden. He's been too good to us.

Madden has just been destroyed. APF, NFL2K4, and NFL2K5 all represent the game of football better than any Madden. While not perfect, the X's and O's and things like physics and animations are more often respected in 2K football titles. Again, not perfect, but far superior to Madden. That is not up for debate or opinion. It's a fact that the gameplay holds true to the game of football. On a highschool level, college, or pro...2K is the way to go if you're serious about football. I'm so happy on this day.

LMFAO@the people saying nonsense about "no NFL license=no buy from me" lol YOU PEOPLE are why Madden continues to be same game every year. You don't demand better. You just want your favorite players and teams. Go play Madden, then. I'll stick to the game(while not perfect)that represents the game that I love better than that trash.

I remember when 2K football had that awesome halftime mode with the highlights from other games.... Think you needed the PS2 hard drive for that part to work... i remember my roommate went out an bought an HDD when I told him you had to have that for that to work. He was that impressed with it.

But ya... i hope all the bells and whistles are in this game like the old days. Hope this isn't just a phone game. That would suck.

Let's get a Tommy Lasordas Baseball going next MS!

Every 5 years, another chump comes for the crown only to get slapped down into irrelevancy by Sir John.

Join the graveyard, Joe Cool.
