I'm getting feels this might review as high as DS2.
Probably because they're emphasizing speed and being offensive in this game. So some are taking that as meaning that you can't play any other way. No one will really know the different tactics you can take until more people have it. Right now the people playing and streaming it are struggling to even get past the first part the game.
Bloodborne will be "souls-esque" but the combat and play style will vary a lot from the past Souls titles. Much faster paced, more action than RPG. If spoilers don't bother you, go watch some of the previews IGN put out. I'm personally beyond stoked for Bloodborne and fully confident that it's going to live up to the hype.
Of course they aren't. Let's revoke their gamer cards.
What. The differences are greatly exaggerated by some, it really is just like playing an agility build in previous Souls with the added HP-draining mechanic.
And you know that because you have already beat the game right?

You don't need to beat the game to know this. There was an alpha build as well as numerous streams over the past week that demonstrate this.
That's not what I was getting at. People can like Dark Souls 2. I liked Dark Souls 2. My point was that the critics understanding of the Souls series is so little that they were unable to see the flaws that Souls 2 had. Hell, you could say the same for Demon Souls or Dark Souls.
I'm not saying that they can't recognize that the games are inherently good or bad. I'm saying they don't have the skill, nor the expertise to articulate a good review on the Souls series.
I wouldn't buy this game if you couldn't get into any of the other Souls titles. Bloodborne shares the same philosophy of other Souls games. Just with a different, faster paced combat and new setting.
It seems a lot of people who never played a Souls game before will still grab it without having any idea what they're getting themselves into. And I fear a lot of them will be unpleasantly surprised by what they get with the game.
I expect there to be a lot of rage quit posts in the OT. Some might even return the game because it's not what they expected. Which is fine, since not every game appeals to everyone. But I hope the newer players stick with it and end up liking it.
Some will I'm sure. I'm personally looking forward to the crying about not being able to pause the game the most.
My buddy loves the Souls series. He's platinum'd DeS, DkS, and DkS2. His favorite is DkS2 :/ He stands by it everytime I ask about it.

Yup, I've been saying all along that it's only slightly faster than a light armor build in a Souls game, and I stand by that. Aside from getting used to triangle being heal instead of 2h weapon, I was very comfortable with the alpha. The dual dagger pre-built character felt extremely similar to my dual dagger build in DS2 that I was playing at the same time. People saying stuff like "significantly faster" must have only played mid/fat-roll builds in the Souls games.
We riotwhat if they patch out the top hat in the day 1 patch

I'm one of those people that never played a souls game and decided I might give Bloodborne a shot. What do you think it is that people will not expect?

I'd imagine having a ton of patience probably, and being willing to learn as the game drags you along by the collar of your shirt through the blood and dirt.I'm one of those people that never played a souls game and decided I might give Bloodborne a shot. God we have a week left huh?
Looks like the positive impressions are having some sort of effect on Bloodborne sales (in amazon at least), its currently beating out Battlefield Hardline and in the top 5 overall

I've never played any Souls games before but is it weird that I find the combat similar to Knack on the hard?
I know Knack is way easier and is super linear but they seem like they have a lot in common in terms of pure combat with memorizing patterns and enemy behavior.
Still hasn't sunk in yet...as soon as that shipping confirmation pops up though.

Oh, the humanity...
Jeez. Chill, dude.
Its been sitting there since before the impressions. Was @ # 8 and then #6 and now #5.
And in comparison, The Order only ever reached #7 at its peak on Amazon.
Lord knows how many digital sales this game will get simply due to the early 11:00pm unlock of the game on the 23rd lol
I'm sure it depends on your location, but I always get my stuff on release day... usually between 1 and 3 pm (delivered by UPS).How late is amazon prime shipping usually? Preordered the CE.

I don't know why, but after reading the comparison to Lovecraft and Dracula made in the Kotaku UK article and the post of a user who compared this game to a specific Lovecraft story, I'm really excited for the new setting. I guess before I saw it as basically "not medieval", but thinking about it differently has gotten me ridiculously excited for it.
I guess it just finally clicked with me? It's hard to explain, but I'm stoked.

I really want a physical copy because the Souls series is one of my all time favorites...but that 9 pm unlock on the west coast is so damn tempting.Yup, I bought Bloodborne digital simply because it's going to unlock at 9pm on Monday for me. Too bad they don't track digital sales.
Really depends on your area and who they use to ship the product. Amazon in my area generally uses UPS so I can get my CE anywhere from 3pm-7pm.

I am off Tuesday, I pre-ordered the CE from Amazon... however Amazon generally doesn't deliver until after 5pm... damn...
Man, what a marriage of powerful influences. The feels are strong.
Sunday I believeWhen does PSN allow you to start preloading this Sunday or Monday?
