Titan X Launch / Review / Tears Thread

Tried running crysis 3 at 4k DSR with everything completely maxed. Framerate fluctuated pretty damn wildly between 40 and 60.

I actually found 1080p with 60 fps vsync as the best option. Was able to use any AA option without any frame drops or input lag and found TXAA High (4xT1) to hit the sweet spot in terms of IQ. Surprisingly, it looked better than 8xMSAA in motion.

DSR seems to come in handy only in games without good AA options. It gave me little to no IQ improvement in crysis but came at a very heavy cost. Was totally pointless.

Will probably analyze more thoroughly with screenshots in the upcoming days.

Whats the frame rate like on 1080p?

Smokey making me want to get them Titans in sli. MUST...HOLD....OUT....FOR....PASCAL....

Remember that it's unlikely we'll get GP200 in 2016. Pascal will first introduce with the lower performance models. Kepler released in 2012, then GK110 in 2013, Maxwell released in 2014, GM200 in 2015.

Things could change with the introduction of TSMC's 16nmFinFet, but I don't think so. Also, Nvidia's "10 x" claim for Pascal doesn't ring true if you take it to mean pure games performance. They're likely talking about compute performance, via their mixed precision feature.

Locked 60 with vsync on. It didn't budge no matter what I threw at it, including 8x msaa.

That's honestly pretty crazy to me. 8xMSAA in Crysis 3 at very high settings and it doesn't budge in framerate.
Think it's safe to say Titan X is overkill for 1080p. But...what about AC Unity?

I saw something on Pascal a couple of days ago and I remember the 10x performance being about compute performance.

I don't think a single Titan X will pull off 8xMSAA at 60 fps though (will verify tomorrow). I'm running 2x SLI, so that's definitely overkill for 1080p. Will experiment with unlocked frame rates tomorrow to see how much it stays above 60

Unfortunately, I don't have AC Unity. But Smokey does. He did some VRAM benchmarks with it earlier in the thread.

Ran it at 2560x1440, stock clocks, on Ultra High w/ fxaa.

Lowest it got during gameplay was 85fps.

Thanks Smokey. Very high frames for 1440 ultra, around double what I get with a 970. Awesome. At 1920x1080 I can get constant 60fps if I drop a couple of settings down.

The MSAA / TXAA in crysis is extremely effective, that could explain why it produces results similar to if not better than DSR 4K.

I am such a weak person. Just pre-ordered a single EVGA Titan X SC, which will replace my current 780 SLI setup. I hope that this will make me happy ...

I'm weakening as well. My eyes are slowly closing, and my mouse cursor is hovering closer and closer to the order button.

It is WAY to expensive. But I feel that I play enough on my PC to justify it.

Wish it came out before the oil price went to shit and the dollar started using steroids.

Yes, the timing of the situation really sucks. The Titan X would have cost significantly less just six months ago. Personally I made the decision to buy to get out of SLI hell. I feel like my effective gaming time on PC has gone down since getting the 780 SLI setup. I was starting to feel like a fool for buying most PC games day 1, because of the additional waiting time until they fixed sli support. Now I am looking forward to having less issues with upcoming games.

Same reason here. I have 2 GTX 970, and I'm running 1 card 90% of the time with the other as a dedicated PhysX card. SLI has been a joke lately. I previously had a GTX 690, and that was a great experience, with nearly all games that needed it having great SLI support. I think I can probably get a good price for the 970s as well, so that would help me pay for the Titan.

Ya, you will get good money for those 970s. On my end I am prepared to be robbed for my 780s. Their value has just crashed after the 970 entered the market.

Just curious, for those of you that ordered from Nvidia.

How long did it take to get shipping confirmation from them? I ordered at around 9am yesterday and didn't get a confirmation email of the order till around 5:40pm.

Does that mean it shipped or that they barely got my order? Guess I'm just spoiled by amazon prime.

my 2nd one was like that, you should get it today if you did 1 day or w/e

reppin GAF right now at number 7, firestrike ultra, score = 8318. shit just got real i need that top 5 spot.

my current oc is 1202/3931

man I need some guidance SMokey!?!

I think my stock speeds are kinda low, it's weird I did the test earlier but it was on a 1080p screen, now I'm using my Asus pg278q but I got a better stock score earlier

Not sure. When I first ran firestrike and got the scores I posted before the OC started, it was around 13k I believe. Then I tried after the OC ing and it was lower. I posted at OCN and they said a drop is not unexpected for air cards. Sometimes cold boots can give higher scores too.

I'm still sitting at num 6. I'm curious what that 3770k is doing.

So is a 4790K all I need for a Titan X build? (ie not a 6 or 8 core)

Also, does anyone have experience running 3D vsion with SLI? I am choosing between potential SLI 980 or 1 titan X (though with SLI mb so I have option to expand). If I went 980 I would probably buy 1 card and then second later (I imagine there would be price drops when AMD cards hit)

People seem to have a lot of issues with new games SLI wise, but OTOH I believe the SLI works well scaling wise with 3D vision.

Monitor is 1080p 3D vision capabale,

I just got my Titan yesterday and tested a bunch of games at 4K, im really impressed with the 1 card at 4k. I did have it overclocked as well with my benchmarks below, also keep in mind i keep AA off since to me its usually useless at 4k.

BF Hardline 4K Maxesd out with FXXA: Always above 60fps, somewhere around 68AVG
The Crew: AVG 60FPS, sometimes would hit mid to low 50s, never below 50.
Assassin Creed Unity: AVG 38 FPS
Far cry 4: AVG 45-50 FPS
Shadow of Mordor: AVG 50FPS
Crysis 3: Only played 2 levels in multiplayer, not story, and got AVG 40ish FPS
Watch Dogs: AVG 50 FPS

Happy with all these results, i came from 2 sli 970s, but 4k was hampered due to the vram, so i sold them off for this. Im debating if i should do sli again, though its nice and great getting these numbers without worrying if games support sli or work well with it.

Not even Top Five in the World. Psh.

From OCN. Dude with Quad Titan X's runs TR benchmark on his 1080p display. The results :

smh.

ahh makes sense why a cold boot would give higher scores.
I should be grateful with my score LOL

I haven't even overclocked my CPU yet lol

Any sign of the stuttering you get with Ubisoft games?

Just received my shipping confirmation on my Ek Water blocks and Back plates. Should be here sometime next week.

For now, I have been testing 1 out 2 of my Titan X Cards and getting great results. I am at a rock solid 1402 boost, which is a +212 to the core. I have not even begun OC memory, which I will do tomorrow evening. So far, the card is performing outstanding. I will begin testing my second Titan X on Sunday. I prefer to test them individually first to determine which of the 2 can OC more, this way if there are some SLI issues with whatever game, I can just run that game on the primary card.

Got mine too.

The first game I'm going to try is The Sims 4. Playing @6880x2880 my fps frequently dips into 20s with my 980s. Hopefully I can now finally maintain 30fps.

You guys with two Titans are making me jealous. I just ordered one which seems like it's going to be super ultra mega overkill for my use at 1080p, but seeing your pictures makes me want to go for the second.

Not really. Games like Watch Dogs/Unity/Crysis 3 if you turn every possible option to the max, most current GPU's wont be able to hit 1080p/60fps solid. Hell, when I was testing Cyrsis 3 at 1080p with 8xMSAA, even with the Titan X, it dropped to 56fps at one point. Yeah, hardly anything, but still a drop. Hehehe

Will 2x4 GB of DDR3 (1600MHz) RAM bottleneck my performance with a single Titan X? Is it meaningful to add more RAM for games perf? Or faster RAM? How about a 3570k@4.6 CPU - will this bottleneck a single Titan X?

8GB of RAM will be fine for most games. Speed doesn't matter much at all either. 1600MHz is fine. Same with your CPU, should be fine too.

In games all of your components will do well I'm betting. Benchmarks are where you'll see real clear differences.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't obsess over benchmarking, so I guess I should be fine for now with the CPU and the RAM.

Mine just arrived today. :)

Haven't had time to play anything, but it's nice to see my rig with a non-k 3770 and 8GB of ram placing in the top 98% of gaming results.

Am I safe to push a generous overclock with a 650W Power Supply?

People are buying 2 Titans so they can feel superior to those with dual 980's or 970's

Imagine the shame of benchmarks that run higher on dual 970's than a mere single Titan X.

So everyone with Titans - they run quiet right?

Planning new PC with silent fans, and I imagine the titans are low power and low fan noise right?
