Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition trailer

My body can't handle this amount of HYPE, my expectations are already surpassed with the inclusion of Trish and Lady. I can't wait for new information and hopefully they are doing streams just like with Dmc:DE.

Yep. And Force Edge.

Yep, the air spin kick, Real Impact etc.

So I guess we're not worrying about canon or anything like that since that doesn't make sense no matter how you spin it. I guess Vergil's campaign in DMC3 was like that as well, but I am kind of bummed about not seeing him get one exclusive of his own with maybe a few unique boss fights.

I just hope they find some way to excuse bringing him back permanently. DMC4 has a few ways they could justify it.

They have to be aware of how everyone hated the dice game.

So what do people think about vergil's concentration technique. Any theory crafting on that? Will it use the exceed trigger or just be a general effect. If it's just an effect I hope they use the exceed button for something and not make it a weapon switch button like in dmc3se.

There won't be any future DMC games without Vergil being present. Way too popular a character not to be at least shoehorned in.

And he totally needs DmC Vergil's look as an alt costume.

Another gif to respond to this news.

Well they just lost a sale because its digital only and I'm going to assume a lot of folks will probably be doing the same thing.

You could import it. Not the most elegant solution, but it should function the same.

I'm still hoping people will send Capcom messages so they change their minds.

Sounds like Concentration is a general effect, it would make the most sense that way.

There's also that new Grim Trick mobility option for him, could be assigned to it's own button depending on how versatile it is I guess.

I doubt that it'll be a simple mechanic swap with Nero's controls.

DMC4SE looks to be crafting an overall framework in which each character's got a pretty fundamentally different paradigm to them but with generally similar controls. Which is EXCELLENT and bodes extremely well for the future of the series.

Dante still needs a rework for DMC5, IMO, since a great deal of his Style moves really can be and ought to be incorporated into his normal moveset.

could trish do the trick teleports in DMC2?

really wondering if she's gonna have something in lieu of that- she doesn't have any teleports in marvel 3 but she's got "trick: hopscotch/peakaboo" traps that i really want to see integrated into a real DMC game

i also want to see the switch sign too if that wasn't in there before

I think I'm the only person in existence who didn't mind the dice puzzle. One big improvement though, would be to battle Credo again at some point. Best boss battle of the game IMO.

They can either make it a one style future or expand the styles even more with more moves and uses to make each style more worthwhile.

If they are intent on giving each character their unique flavor then styles are definitely Dante's.

I think style switching is great, but if they can cram more functionality into Dante's moveset pre-Style button, they should. Examples include []+X moves, /\+O moves, but also R1+[forward or back] moves while you're in the air, incorporating Shotgun Stinger into the normal Shoot button, giving E&I Ricoshot instead of just a higher-damage attack for charging, and so on. Done right, they could take a lot of what already exists in Gunslinger, Swordmaster, and Trickster and incorporate it directly into Dante's normal skillset. Also, stuff like Doppelganger or Quicksilver could be incorporated directly into becoming equippable passive DT abilities (since they consume DT and are simply switched on and off).

Putting all of those things into Dante's normal controls wouldn't only streamline Dante's access to a bigger moveset without needing to touch the dpad, it'd also mean Itsuno could then be freed up to do even cooler shit with the Style button.

Very good points.

I wanted playable Trisha and Lady so bad when the game first came out. Felt that their awesome models were a waste considering how little you got to see them. Can't wait for this.

I like this.

Besides, I imagine there'll be more of a race to make sure Dante doesn't appear redundant, if he's slated to be the "Jack-Of-All-Trades" character that you paint a nice picture of.

After all, say we now stand to have various "Specialists", like Lady, that can do everything his Gunslinger style can do, but better? Would Dante even still need the style or would it be better to map its most important features to his shoot button and just make sure the "core" character is better?

the size of dante's moveset is very difficult to use given that you need to tap the dpad so much.

id rather they take a page from god hand/castlevania dawn of sorrows and make dante's moveset more customizable as a whole.

I'll be curious to see how they handle that in the future, yeah.

I mean, Nero's clearly characterized as being all about barely-contained anger and nonstop aggression, Vergil's set up so that he's going to be all about calm efficiency, Dante's an incredibly masterful jack of all trades, now Lady's going to be Gunslinger on steroids and Trish will be... Swordmaster on steroids? We'll have to see (since that's sort of already what DMC3/DmC Vergil feels like).

I have a feeling that she'd be a flight/aerial based trap and projectile character, but I think that's just the Mahvel-head in me.

I won't lie, that trailer has gotten me more hyped than I have been in awhile.

Here's hoping muscle memory won't fail me when it comes to Nero's perfect Revs. Too good man.

Since I watched the old trailers a lot back in the day, I noticed they used some of them on the new trailer. Gameplay scenes by the way.

Grim Trick is just going to be the Puls/teleport from DmC where he throws a sword and teleports to it or throws a sword and brings an enemy to him. It's his version of the grapple to allow him to move in Nero's areas.

Good shit. I haven't touched DMC4 on my steam backlog even though I played through it on DMD on the 360. I will hold off on my replay of DMC4 for the special edition, since I have so many games to go through...

I'm most interested in Lady, since she is the only one not playable in any game before. It looks like she has Dante's Gunslinger moves from DMC 3 since we saw her use the gun stinger with the shotgun into some charge shot and hysterics with Kalina Ann. Maybe she will be getting Artemis and Spiral too.

Death means nothing in DMC huh?

Oh well, I'm glad Vergil is back. I'm feeling pretty motivated.

Vergil was never confirmed dead after DMC 1, and this could well be before DMC 4, the part of Vergil that is, if its even canon wich i doubt, it seems these new cutscenes are mostly to show off, nothing important Lady never had a part on DMC 4, for example.

I agree. There's no reason that the Shoot button can't be given the same input combinations as the Melee or Style buttons.
