While I was debating taking Friday off it probably wouldn't fly with me also having yesterday off, knowing my luck release won't be until 6pm which is about when I'd get in from work anyway, plus have the house to myself the better half of Saturday so no nagging interruptions makes for the perfect time to get stuck in. Still hasn't stopped me F5ing the shit out of the backer portal though.

Release is on Thursday though. You dun goofed.

Obsidian forum is just filled with manchildren crying about not getting the game before reviewers. I wonder how Obsidian really feels about having to deal with vitrolic negativity from people that mostly couldnt make a salient game design point unless its just a permutation of "not like IE games."
Tbf in the two threads we have here, I've seen some voiced disappointment over this
Never been on those forums, so I don't feel comfortable judging them

I think it might technically be Friday by the time it comes out in Aus.

For those who've played the beta or press copy, how stable has the experience been?

I'm on the fence about getting this now or wait a few months for patches. Playing NWN2 at release burned me and I've been hesitant of buying Obsidian games at release ever since.

Yeah, assuming Paradox handle the unlock in the same way as Cities:Skylines (which is to say, just letting a Steam employee flick the switch after their morning office coffee), expect the game to go live very late Thursday night / early Friday morning, something like midnight Perth, 3am Sydney. Similarly, Europe should be expecting an unlock around Thursday 6pm-ish, East Coast US around Thursday 1pm-ish I guess.

EDIT: with that said, maybe Obsidian, being a US company, will make requests of Paradox to arrange handling the unlock differently..?

THe beta is very stable at this point in my experience. But it's just a small part of the game, so if you are really concerned you should wait for reports of the entire thing.

So I changed my email earlier today without realizing when keys were going out. Can I just login to my POE account and get the key there? Or is it only sent to my email? The concern is that it went to my old account which I deleted and not my new one.

According to the steam page, it unlocks 4am AEDST. So 1am in Wa, 3am in QLD and at some point in SA.

Assuming things go ahead according to the Steam page info, fingers, toes, buttcheeks crossed that the game might at least unlock an hour earlier than advertised just as C:SL did last week. Not that one single hour earlier will make much of a difference in Oz.. That late at night, a bedtime must still be a bedtime.

I logged in to my obsidian account and claimed my key there. I don't think you receive them from an e-mail. Merely a prompt to go and claim them online.

How much management of the party members do you need to undertake? Do you have to level them all up and choose their stats; or do they have a pre-defined build that they go through as they level automatically?

Stats are pre-defined out the box but their skills and talents are chosen by you.

Skills: Active or modal ability - Blinding Strike, Magic Missiles, Falcon Punch etc

Talents: Not like the usual shit you see. List of skills to specialize come in the form of class (usually modifies their core class roll to improve it), offensive (improves their melee/ranged ability- more accuracy on a subset of weapons for example), defensive (improving deflection etc), utility (move faster etc).

Edit: I'll take a screenshot in a minute.

I hate being short on money atm. I'm happy with Monster Hunter, but ahhhh, I want to play this as well :P

Oh well, definately my next purchase.

I'll have to flip a magazine rack if it really releases that late and there's no way to pre-load. Would take me another 3 to 4 hours.

Cheers Spookie. I don't know how I'm ever going to start playing this game, I'm going round and round in circles trying to decide on class. I initially liked the idea of Chanter, but I also like the idea of Ranger and Wizard. Also, there is the option of going Fighter just to make a change for me (I never choose tanks in these games). I just can't decide!!

Ok I've taken a screenshot of talents and skills. It's easier to read the descriptions than have me explain things poorly. Basically talents are handled better than say Dragon Age because you aren't being lead carrot+stick down a tree to get what you want.

Lovely sexy Imgur link here.

Excuse me, Spookie. Bards are le business in NWN2. Cursesong all day, erry day.

Also you lost your train of thought halfway through utilities.

BritGAF distracting me on Whatsapp.

Edit: fixed!

Choose Monk, Barb, Rogue. Why? There is a companion for everything else. :E

Can you please screenshot stat priority stars for chanter?
Those Chanter spell names are pretty fucking cool.

I'd say resolve is better than con for a chanter. At least in my feeble experience. You don't want to be interrupted while casting a spell since most tend to be a cone AoE from the casters jaw.
Thank you!
No might dependency,
HUZZAH!
I think the High CON is because you want to last long enough to use your invocations.

Con isn't as good as deflection I've found, anyway unless you're playing them as an off tank they shouldn't be taking, many, hits!

Any word on how they intend to ship physical copies to backers? Standard post?
I'm really worried since I'm already having huge problems receiving my Wasteland 2 copy

So does lock picking / traps etc use pooled stats or is it done on am individual character basis?

Individual character (highest). You'll notice when you click on a locked object your rogue will generally be the one to come forward and interact. Checks in conversation are also performed against your main character.

I think I saw it mentioned somewhere them being changed for release. :)

He mentions in his newest video that they have another balance pass within the day 1 patch. Might has been the best stat for DPS characters from the first beta release though, so I don't think he'll be too far off the mark.

Man I regret not backing this on kickstarter.
Ah well definately on my must buy list for April.
Really like how it reminds me of Baldurs Gate, but still looks fresh and new. And at the same time I have alot of faith in Obsidian when it comes to story telling.
