Use the monocle again?

Ah, yes. Doesn't appear to be a bug at all. Just strange if you use it from the start menu as opposed to the hotbar. If I recall any animation changed the viewpoint back to third person when using the binoculars in Dark Souls so I think I was expecting that.

So to the people playing now....are you getting invaded a lot?

I'm thinking of playing offline just for awhile until I get a handle on the controls and what not.

That feeling of finding the shortcut back to the first lamp.

What's this about?
Nothing important. Just wanted to get that out of my chest since I know haters are reading this thread.

If you dislike Bloodborne and/or the hype for it: don't enter the thread.
If you dislike me or anyone else: put him on ignore.

Not that hard.

So my only real negatives are the frame rate and load times. Otherwise very impressed with the game so far. Went with Lone Suvivor, Blunderbuss, and Threaded Cane. Not sure if I made the right decision, but probably need to beat the first boss to determine that I guess :p

Sweet justice.
I baited the crazy hunter operating the machine gun to fall off the tower. I'm really not a fan of this area, these games are stressful enough without someone launching a neverending hail of bullets at you.

how many times did you die at that part..is it a hard/frustrating part of the game

So, I've never played any of the Souls games but I'm liking the RPG aspects of BB. However, I really do not like the invasion aspect (I don't like being ganked by assholes). Is there a way to turn that off or avoid it entirely (perhaps by playing while not signed in the PSN)?

Any tips for the first boss? I can't get very far into the fight. I have no healing items left and I'm using an axe.
Fight him facing the bridge as opposed to facing the river so you don't get camerafucked.
Watch it's patterns and dodge everything, your rolls have invincibility frames, then attack when he's open. After some damage it flinches, get near it's face and press R1 for big damage.

To all the people hating on me and Bloodborne-GAF (mostly me, though) on Twitter... mind your own business and fuck off, thank you very much.

edit: or, if you have an issue with me - why hide behind tweets? Send a PM or add me on Steam, let's have a friendly discussion why you dislike me so much.

k?

k.

Is it those mean ol' reddit boys again?

So how does the beckoning bell work? Can you ring it anywhere? I just rang it in front of a boss, and waited like 20 minutes and nothing happened. Then I rang it again, again nothing happened. And I wasted 2 insight.

Do I need to stand still where I rang the bell to wait for someone to join?

I'm sure this has been asked, but any recommendations for which Origin/Weapons to choose for someone who's never played any Souls games? These stats don't mean much to me and I want to make sure I'm not fucking myself over.

Lock on to his head and shoot him, then run up and hit R1 when he keels over. Oil and molotovs are effective too.

Don't lock on beyond that, he's easier to keep track of that way.

Since you completed it once, mind answering a few questions?

So how far am I from the end? I have access to the woods. I've fully explored what I can of the prison area and fought/defeated the electric beast. Can't explore elsewhere. Also found my way to a nightmare zone but not sure if that is a optional area or what. Also what about the tower near the catherdral. Door is locked. Am I missing something obvious or does it come into play later?

not so far.
Electric beast I missed, found it on NG+. not needed to finish.
The nightmare zones are required, must finish Mensa(?) to trigger final boss.
Key is on the area with the bell ladies and infinite monsters and the giant monster overseing, you will see a cage with an item on it and it is the key. you must access from the top.

When you turn on the game it asks if you want to play online or offline. Just pick the latter.

What I did was sticking very close to the boss. That way, even if you get hit, you can heal by hitting him a few times. If your health/stamina gets critically low, back off and pop a blood vial/let it regenerate. You could also try to get behind it and go for a charge attack with the two handed axe.

Killed him on my first try! Good luck sir :)

Edit: Also if you're out of blood vials, I suggest farming it from the enemies in the area first. Make sure not to get too banged up by the two werewolves.

Choose play offline at the start screen.

wondering the same

how hard is NG+

Man I've only played an hour but I think I hate this game. Why does it control so slow and awkwardly? The animations are awkward and choppy. This is my first From Software title, but I'm not enjoying it so far. I'll give it some more time later today but so far I'm not impressed.

Well it's certainly not for everyone, took me a few hours to really get into it, but the addiction has now set it. Give it some more time and see how you feel, once you make some progress you might feel better :D

can you only recover your Blood Echoes from your most recent death?

I just built up 3000, and died in this house underground, and on the way back there I died once again. when I eventually got back, they wernt there...

So essentially if you die in a hard area and die again getting there, you lose all your progress?

Happened to me too, you have to re-download from the US acc now that it's live.

Pain in the arse, I'm stuck at work and was hoping to play as soon as I got home but I have to re dl the entire thing.

Ahh, ok. :/

re-downloading it now...
Thanks

Milquetoast + Saw + Pistol is probably the most balanced start.

Don't worry about fucking yourself over, this stuff doesn't matter once you start leveling up.

yup.

Is it possible to switch between offline and online mode at any time ?

I was just going to do it from the XMB settings. I don't think you can do it from the game itself?

Anyways, it doesn't sound like much invading is happening at the moment so I might just live dangerously and leave it online.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess there is an option at the menu.

No death is a loss of progress, as every death is a lesson learned.

LOL someone in another forum made a thread about saving problem in the game, he says that the game didn't save infront of the boss and that he is repeating the whole level.

I'am expecting the same threads here soon.

I died about 3 times to the
machine gun
and 2 times to the hunter. It's frustrating the first time you encounter it because it's hard to tell where she's
shooting you from
in certain spots.

Thanks. Glad to hear that I'm not far. I was trying to do the nightmare zone now but seems perhaps I should come back to it later then by your comment perhaps? Also the key is in an area with a giant monster overseeing? Where is this I'm not recalling that. Thanks again!

I think Bloodborne is a good example of accessibility does not always mean easier.

Demon's Souls is more obtuse - less direction in where to go, more complex upgrade system - more upgrade options, more materials needed to upgrade, and also possible to mess up the spawns to get rare upgrade materials until you goto NG+

But, it's also easy to farm souls, farm healing items/etc - and lots of ways to cheese the game.

Only a few hours into BB - it does seem a little more accessible - but the combat is more difficult so far.

Exactly my feelings. It is more streamlined in terms of stats, upgrading, gear, etc. But the actual gameplay feels far deadlier to me. I am sure that I just have to get used to it more, but still. It is most definitely harder so far.

I am not enjoying my time with this game so far. The framerate seems off, not low, just weirdly inconsistent, lock on and dodging feels unresponsive, and having to keep repeting the same long segments over and over feels like a chore. Haven't been able to get the stun from the gun to work a single time either.

I'm really enjoying the core combat but it's not pleasant to play. I'll keep at it but it's not a good first impression.
