That motherfucking
hunter on top of the tower
is pissing me off: he's got lots of HP and the space is tight.
Any advice?

So a little confused by the gamespot review... Is there a strong antiChristian vibe in the game with a Jesus burning on the cross or something? May be a little too dark for me... Has anyone seen this?

FYI - my PS+ sub expired last year, but I tried to go online anyway with BB and I was offered a free PS+ 2-day trial.

Anyone else get that? Or does everyone get that?

Serious question/advice --

I have never played (or owned) any of the previous three games. I did try DS1 for about 1.5 hours at a friend's place. I thought it was way too hard, even though I loved the environments, atmosphere, etc

I'm 38 and play most games on Easy or Normal. For example I played Alien Isolation on Novice and still thought it was just about right for me

From the videos and screenshots of BB, I can tell I love the world and environments they created. But now I'm seeing in this OT that a lot of new players still say it's very hard with no difficulty setting?

Also I do not own a PS4 yet. Based on the above, would yall honestly recommend me buying a PS4 & BB? (the cost of buying PS4 is not an issue at all -- but at the same time if I'm only going to play BB for an hour before giving up, then I'm not going to waste money for nothing)

Can't really recommend buying a PS4 and BB if you have no interest in the souls games. If you already had a PS4 it would be worth a shot, but in your case, if you don't like hard games, I'd say to stay clear. Bloodborne is difficult. Sounds to me that you prefer playing games for the ride more than the challenge. That's cool- everyone has their preference, but it's probably not a good idea to jump on this particular hype train if you know in your heart you will be disappointed.

You can use it in Hunter's Dream. Look for a tree stump behind the house.

Oh no the item itself I don't mind. It was the...bizarre means by whichI got it that bothered me, lol. But whatever. It's kind of a blessing actually. I was afraid my OCD would fuck up my enjoyment but hey...nothing worse can happen now and I'm still playing. Victory!

At this point people are already restarting the game for better builds and to purposely stay at low levels my friend

Ok. So I've never been able to get into any of the previous games, so I'm basically new to these. Once I've been racking up money/souls/whatever, say I have about 4,000, should I be going back to the hunters dream and spending it? Is there a chest I can store them in to save up?

Played a little last night and loved it, got less than 5 hours of sleep, the work day is going to be long but I'm so pumped to dive back into this game after work!

It's going to be hard but I really have to stay out of this thread, I beat all the other souls games multiple times with the help of guides every once in a while but I've gone into bloodborne completely blind and I'm fucking loving it, I don't want hints or ideas of anything to come at all.

I'm not an invader. (unless drunk). I just like to school people who step in my house.

At least I try.

There's no way of banking your echoes for later use - that would get rid of all the tension! - so if you're worried about losing all of them then you should go and spend them.

I think I will give the souls series another chance with this one. Is a load time patch expected? I'm knee deep in driveclub at the moment but a patch would be a nice added bonus when I get around to picking this up.

Guys there's a huge electrical storm in the town where i live down here in Chile. The power shutdown while i was playing and i was afraid i would lose my save or worse, therefore i'm not gonna touch my PS4 until this fucking storm passes :(

Also this game is fucking great but it's kicking my ass after 2 hours, i only managed to see the first boss. Damn i'm rusty as fuck.

Hmmm
does the guy (Gehrman) in hunters dream that sits in the wheelchair disappear for times? Because I haven't seen him for a few hours.....

im a beginner to games like this and chose the origin Milquetoast to begin with. Ive been playing for about 4 hours and still near the beginning as im finding myself always dying.

is this a bad choice for a beginner?, i see other playthroughs at the area im in, and everyone seems to have 2-3x the amount of HP, even before the first boss.

should i go back and choose Lone Survivor or something else with much more HP?

Buy more at the hunter's dream. It's 180 echoes each IIRC.

And try to parry him. Lock on, watch his animation, when he starts swinging, shoot!

I've been trying to parry him but it's not working well :(

Having a much harder time getting going in this game than expected. I really don't like having to trudge through these segments over and over. Finally got a good strategy for the mob at the bonfire then this guy wrecks me as soon as I get by.

You don't even need to fight that guy. Try
going left instead of right when you come through the gate from the bonfire room
Will give that a shot. I tried avoiding him once and he followed me and smacked me down out of nowhere.

I'm going to pick up this game, but I wonder what the ETA is for the load times/frame pacing issues patch. I'd rather wait to play it until after the patch, but I don't want that to be like a month from now.

At a third exit from the workshop, out on an alcove. It's annoyingly hidden in the open.
I found a new path and there is a stump messenger but it says there are no messengers.
is that the one and for some reason it's not unlocked?

edit / nope, found it now. so stupidly hidden lol.

amazon is dropping the ball here. still waiting on my confirmation for my regular edition pre-order from 2 months ago. Not gunna cancel either because I used my credit and got a copy for $15. damn you amazon. damn you.

It's a shame that describing these games to others makes them intimidating. I'm terrible at games and I've beaten every souls game. They can be tough but eventually you will succeed and the feeling of accomplishment is amazing. I liken It to playing the portal games. It's hard to wrap your head around the concept at first but the more you play the more you learn. The game provides you with all the tool to succeed. It's like learning to ride a bike. Don't be too worried about the obtuseness of its systems either. A lot of Is definitely shrouded in mystery but you can get by. I didn't know what 'poise' was my whole first playthrough of dark souls or 'soul memory' in II And I still did ok.

So, I'm back after playing since 10:30PM last night just now stopped to have a medical smoke and take some medications, eat some bread and hopefully not vomit. Yes, my mornings or whenever I wake up are lovely. :P That said I've been awake for around 24 hours straight and roughly 10 of those hours exploring the starting area and beating the first boss and hitting a small wall with
Father/Priest Gascoigne, I just keep losing my spacing, not to mention his Two handed axe attacks are nuts. Beast mode Gascoigne isn't nearly as bad, and I got him to turn beast once out of the 5 times I've fought him.

So first things first, this is the most overtly Lovecraftian game I have ever played besides The Call of Cthulhu:DCOTE. So far I get heavy Shadow Over Innsmouth, Pickman's Model, The Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow Out of Time, and The Haunter of The Dark vibes from the story and item descriptions. I keep waiting to turn the corner and find some terrifying cosmic void and some not entirely formless hideous horror residing in its own pocket of space and time.

The ambiance of this game is incredible, from the howls of the city itself and the whispering winds, or the cries of the Messengers, The surprisingly detailed idle dialog of enemies, or the respirator like breathing of the
Doll Maiden
who functions as your Blood Echoes depository/character upgrading thing.

On top of that there is a whole new modding system that seems cosmically deep, and the combat has never been this good. At the low end, it's like playing a light/medium build in Dark Souls and focusing on dodging but a touch faster and with incredible hitboxes and hit detection, at top level play it's like playing Devil May Cry 3. The dodging and transforming weapons are just absolutely insane, and Yharnam itself feels like more of a place than Lordran did. I always felt like Dark Souls overworld was a bit cramped for what they were going for and it felt disjointed to me a lot, and I had trouble placing in my mind, where everything realistically was in terms of actual geography.

With Yharnam I don't really get any of that, it feels like a place that could exist while still being something altogether strange and exciting.

I Love This Game. It's better than Dark Souls just from the beginning.
