The first big enemy you come across (not including the one you fight before getting weapons, but the one after that if you take a slight right down an alleyway) is kicking my ass. Like... I feel like the only way to kill it would be to do the whole shoot gun/stun + big attack, but I can't seem to get the timing down. :(

Axecutioner guy? People say he can be stunned but I just kept dodging and hitting till he died.

And there they go. 8000 souls. Gone.

And only 1 blood vial to my name. Looks like I'll have to hang out around the beginning of the
Central Yharnam loop
and just grind for vials and souls

Just spent the last few hours playing and exploring the first area. So far it's almost everything I had hoped for (almost because I was hoping for smoother framerate).

I Love the new setting, the transforming weapons, new enemies and specially how good evading feels compared to the souls games. I love the flow of fighting enemies with larger HP: getting a few hits, then stepping back to evade, then hit again, step to the side, etc.

Just beat the first boss on my second try. I almost had him the first time around but the camera fucked up. On that note, the camera could use some work. It generally works great but in those narrow spaces like the first boss it can go a bit crazy.

Oh and the level design is great as allways. The first area is pretty big with lots of places to explore and secrets to find. I love how it takes a bit of inspiration from Demon Souls in making a big interconnected area and letting you unlock shortcuts rather than finding bonfires.

I've spent the last two hours making zero progress. I can't even open the short cut to the first boss. I've played all of the previous souls games without too many hang ups, but this is just bullshit.

As of right now, I'm honestly starting to hate Bloodborne.
What's holding you up? There's nothing particularly different in BB from other Souls games besides the whole villager mob at the beginning.

Butcher knife guy can be gun parried

LOL i beat
Father gascoigne
on my first try, i used all of my blood vials and gunshots but i did it. I wish i could say it was clean but it was basically me jumping around looking for a chance to strike. God this game is good too bad player's ghost are kinda fucked up right now.

Oh man I'm getting anxious as fuck. Got 4k echoes in me, lots of those items that give echos, just best some
giant pig
but am clueless on where the hell Im going!!! I WANT OUT!!!!! lol

But I'm playing blind so no help here. God I hope I find a lantern soon. I can feel it nearby there is just so many damn paths! This place is a fucking labrynth

oh shit I finally did the first encounter of Eileen's quest. !!

and I think she's also the
master of Hunter of Hunters
covenant. getting this from her dialogue
so you should probably do her quest instead of killing her.

Damn this isn't easy. Never realized how much I relied on a shield in Dark Souls.

I always thought the comments about DS being hard were wildly exaggerated since it was mostly just a matter of taking your time, being alert, and keeping your shield up. BB is fucking hard.

I can't even reliably clear the group on enemies near the bonfire at the very beginning. I did buy the full set of armor available at the Hunter's Dream, so that's some tangible progress at least.

I'm really liking the mix of old and new. You still upgrade your weapons with shards, you still open shortcuts to old areas, but some things like the Dream area feel totally new. The wheelchair guy from the intro keeps appearing and disappearing, and I have no clue what the doll is supposed to do.

Couple quick questions I have, how long until I get another weapon? I'm liking my whip/cane but the switch mechanic is pretty cool and I'm excited to try out some different weapons.

Also, how exactly does blood recovery work? Sometimes I find my souls on the ground after I did like in DS, but not exactly where I left them. In the same general area, but not quite where I fell. Other times I get my blood back after killing a seemingly random enemy after I respawn. Can't figure out exactly how this works.

Just bought Bloodborne as soon as the stores opened, only to be met with a 2.69g patch when I got home and put the disc in. For some reason I'm getting a disgustingly slow PSN download speed, even on wired.

Down in the shortcut, there are these tall, lanky enemies that launch into a combo that stun locks me and drains my whole health bar. I can't break free of it once out starts, and then it's game over.

So, now I've beaten the third boss after playing for about 4 hours
bloodstarved beast
and STILL haven't died once. Well, that's a lie - I died because the game glitched and an attack which went through an enemy decided not to register, thus leaving me open to a stupid insta-kill counter attack combo.

Let me rephrase: I still haven't legitimately died once in this game. And this isn't a humble brag as I'm hardly a Souls series master or anything. Just genuinely surprised at how far I've made it without dying or getting caught out by any of FROM's usual traps. The 20 blood vial limit is far, far too generous. Especially with the extra ones going in your stash. Which is nice and convenient honestly but also a little much perhaps.

Although, to be fair, I did nearly die to a certain sniper
gatling gun dude
when I finally encountered him in his hiding spot. But then he dodged onto the side of the tower and I knocked him off for an insta-kill. Felt good. Cheesy, but in a good way for once.

Oh, guys.. when you start the game? Instead of moving forward to die at the dog, you can turn around and head up some stairs and talk to the woman behind the door. She'll give a special healing potion that restores a lot of health, just one though.

At least you can do so after having killed the first boss, didn't check when I started the game so I cannot tell if she's locked away, but I don't see why she would be..

Absolutely love the costume design in this game. Rocking the Top Hat set, looks so awesome.

Could you like, not post and make me feel compeletely useless? xD

j/k though, good job not dying :)

I've played and beaten DS1 and 2. I've played this game for about 4 hours and I can't get past the two werewolves on the bridge. Now, I'm not giving up cause I know how these games go, but man am I finding this beginning hump a hard one to get over.
