So for those who have beat the game, how obvious is it that you're about to hit the final boss?

I'm in an area that really feels like the final zone and I don't want to finish the game prematurely.

This game really isn't clicking for me right now. The first human enemies in the game are wrecking me. I try to play it safe I get surrounded or attacked from behind. I try to play aggressive, I get torch stunned to death or surrounded or attacked from behind. I've only managed to do a Blunderbuss riposte a few times but still managed to get hit in the process. I swear most of my time spent with this game so far has been on the goddamned loading screen. Dodging doesn't seem to be instant which is also a problem for me.

Now back to it.

Father bastard down.

I really am lost, I think i'm suppose to go to that tower at the Cathedral Ward, but I have no idea how to unlock that door.

Fuck.
Blood-Starved Beast
is wrecking me something fierce. Everything's fine until that third form and BLAMMO. I'M DEAD.

Oh my god. Just beat my fourth boss and then...

I got kidnapped and taken to a secret village when I was killed by one of those bag wielding enemies! O_O It was so creepy. It felt like they took away my entire sense of security until I found a lantern. Jesus. So awesome.

I still can't fucking believe I took off work only to get stuck on two bosses for 7 and a half hours, only to kill them both within 20 mins.

Fuck.

Was stuck all day on that sucker. Parry and riposte! It'll takes you seconds to kill him when you get the timing.

Right now I need me those super-detailed level maps the Japanese players always come up with. Like from Demon's Souls.

Gotta see what items I'm missing. I ended up having to buy new gear because I wasn't finding any sets.

I think it just takes a try or two to get used to it.
Get up close early on, and side dodge while occasionally attacking. Stay mobile, but close. Eventually, he will get stunned and you can nail him for a lot of damage. Do that twice, and you're good! Don't be afraid to spam heals if you absolutely have to, though. I feel like they're very frequent, and anything you pick up that you can't carry goes to storage
.

Yeah, I'm trying. Farther I get is to his third phase. I almost have it but damn I have died like 100 times already. Is there a death counter?

Is it stupid to buy the armor (
Yharnam Hunter set
) in the first store? The stats seem much better than the initial armor, but how soon is it made redundant by other stuff you find?

It's not too expensive, and provides a decent defensive boost. I found an armor set a few minutes after the
Father
, with similar stats.

I beat the 2nd boss in chalice dungeon.

the first boss
was this big rat thing and it could 1 shot me with its leap attack, so I had to just very carefully whittle it down. reasonable. then I won and got nothing but the ability to go to the next floor.

the boss of the next floor was three ogres. they wouldn't leave their area, so the only way to beat them was to play silly games with pathfinding and obstacles. took me probably 20 tries.

again, only prize is being allowed to move forward.

it's a general problem with this game, in my opinion. the lack of itemization hurts. it's not very exciting beating bosses and accomplshing things when it almost never results in any meaningful or cool reward. there's loot in the game, but it's almost always just consumable stuff.

if it somehow changes a lot after 4 bosses and 2 chalice levels and like 18 hours, then I take it back, but right now it's looking as some had feared but I had brushed off as an unlikely scenario -- there's simply not enough itemization. the reward cycle is off. most games shower you with loot and goodies for accomplishing easy tasks, bloodborne makes you do ridiculously difficult, punishing tasks while it steps on your neck and then gives you, usually, nothing as a reward. it's out of wack.

the stripping away of so many systems -- armor, poise, equip load, shields, weapon types, miracles, magic, and on and on -- has made the game feel unrewarding to play, and I fear that it will not have anywhere near the replayability of Dark Souls because there aren't many builds or play styles to pursue. There are a handful of weapons and the builds are all, basically, the same. Every person I coop with is using the same couple of weapons and wearing the same couple of outfits.

So I got killed by some
dude with a bag over his shoulder, and teleported me to the Unseen village. How do I get out, and the mobs here are super tough.

I had a rough start but it eventually clicked. I've even maxed out my Bloodshards back at base.

One thing's for sure, parrying in this game is much easier than in the Souls titles.

First 3 bosses can go down easily if you learn how to time it properly. Hell, the 2nd boss can go down in a couple of minutes if you just parry their shit early on, which isn't that hard.

So um I was doing pretty well, nothing too difficult, got the flow of combat down. Go down these drops into this tunnel thing.
Spot this lanky bastard walking around with a large staff, think easy kill, I've got this down, nope fucked me hard and fast with no remorse.
Quit right then for a while, so tense.

At the second boss now. Holy.Fuck.

Isn't such a problem in itself, but the position of the second lamp fucking SUCKS! right now. Doesn't seem to be any shortcut yet...

there is a forest east of the 4th boss and it's so stupid, lol.

10 of those sniper type enemies, I try to kill or approach one and I'm dead.

Is it the normal or heavy attack for parry? Too lazy to Google.

When you guys say parry, do you mean shooting them while they attack? Or countering with your weapon? Can all weapons parry?

There's a shortcut. If you want to know,
the elevator.

The 2nd boss in this game is harder to kill then any boss I ever faced in any game.

Freaking Mike Tyson in MT:Punchout is easier than this freak.

And it's the SECOND BOSS.

I SUCK SO BAD. It feels like I'm fighting Neo in the F'ing Matrix!!!!! He's using Matrix-Fu on me!!!!

Even when I run away he super-jumps across the damn zone at me!!!

I am cry...

;(

Yeah this sounds like what I've seen and been hearing. Bosses in this game are an endurance test, maybe made easier by learning their weak points. Once you figure them out though!

Anyone have any tips for the decently sized beasts? The ones right before the first boss. Not the dog-sized beasts, the two bigger on the bridge. I have issues with them. Is it possible to pull just one of them? I feel like choosing the threaded cane might not have been wise. I love the whip, but it feels very weak.
