I'm to the cathedral ward where the days are getting darker now

This game man. Speechless. Gorgeous skyboxes. The atmosphere is just absolutely perfect. These enemy designs and FOR FUCKS SAKE THESE LEVEL DESIGNS!!!!

absolutely floored with this game.

I've been able to connect pretty successfully in helping others online. Make sure you guys don't have a password set and also have it set to Worldwide. Sometimes it takes longer but I've been able to assist out.

You did... you get your first weapon at the very beginning of the game after you die for the first time. On the steps in the hunters dream there are 3 "bloodstains" (or w/e they are in this game) that let you pick your weapons.

Maybe like... 5 minutes into the game. ;-)

Sure was!

It also in the "I'm playing a new Souls game for the first time so I'm going to test all the buttons and see what they do" that you missed. ;-)

*Mind Blown*

Was this in one of the tutorial tips that I just missed?

Hunter's Dream. The things on the ground will let you pick one I think.
Oh, thanks guys. I was surviving too well. :p

After some more time with it, Ludwig’s Holy Blade (the greatsword) is fun to use since its two modes are so different, but the Hunter’s Axe is definitely more useful in PvE because of its excellent reach and moveset.

Disappointing because I’m a huge fan of big swords in the Souls games.

Only had time to play about twenty minutes today. Created my character, unlocked my first shortcut, then had to shut down. Got that Souls itch going. May wake up early tomorrow to get some Bloodborne in before work.

I am still stuck in the first area... How do I get out? I keep dying....

Where are you stuck exactly? Remember to be patient with the enemies. Fight one or two at most at a time. Use pebbles to attract one from a larger group. Be careful as you move around and try to remember enemy placements. Do not ignore the enemies and try to get a drop on them so you don't have to worry about them later.

I feel like I should ask: The sewer is on the right track towards the first boss right? Since you need to reach it to level up I don't want this to end up like Dark Souls where I ended up doing Blighttown before fighting the Belfry Gargoyles.

Ehhh nope. You have to go back.

No, you've gone too far. Go back, to the bridge/highway with the wolves on it. On opposite side is the boss.

I find it interesting how easy it is to run through enemy spawns in this game. no enemies I've seen have followed for very long, so if you know where you're going you can pretty much just run straight there.

contrast this to dark souls, where any loose end will eventually catch up to you. not sure which I prefer. for bloodborne the game's hardcore enough maybe it's for the best.

Lol I was about to type same thing, I got the hunters outfit in the sewer, am I close to 1st Boss?

Just beat Father Gascoine in about 90 seconds flat

Piece of cake compared to Cleric Beast :)

I have 10 insight now - how do I get the other type of summoning bell? I heard there's a shop in the hub somewhere?

Edit: NVM found it

Is everyone using gaf's special password in all caps? I've had that under network, and have the small resonant bell, and haven't been able to find anyone all night.

There is a boss down that path, but not the first one most people fight.

You have to go into the house and then out the door to the left, the second messenger bath where you can buy the other bells is on a small ledge. And I was the same way with the Cleric Beast and the second boss. Wait until you get to the third boss… then the game truly begins.

Go into the mansion (Refuge), out the first left door, the merchant will be popping out of a fountain on your left.

I keep respawning at the top of the first ladder that I climbed. Then I keep dying trying to progress forward through the mobs.

How do you throw a pebble?

That's good to know. I would have continued on that way had I not asked.

On the bright side I have a ton of items that give me blood echoes for when I can level up!

Equip it and press square.

Almost did the same thing until someone here told me I was heading towards the second boss. The first is at
the end of the bridge where the two wolves are.

Holy shit lol. Thanks! I've been backtracking because I'm stuck on the 3rd? boss I guess and was wondering about a small area I skipped. He's freakin relentless. I guess I'll kill the first boss instead.

So stop summoning partners?

Yeah. I ruined Dark Souls 2 for myself in hindsight by summoning for almost all of the bosses. Not doing that again for Bloodborne -- glad to help people, but for my first time I'm not about to do that unless I have hit an absolute brick wall.

Yeah, turn back. Its
near the werewolves. On that same exact bridge actually.

I'm in the sewer now and I think I'm headed towards the second area.

For those at the
cathedral ward, I saved a woman in Yharnam who showed up in the Ward and I then received an item called Triumph. But it's not in my inventory or elsewhere. What was this???

You need
10 Insight and then you can buy it from Messengers in the Hunter's Dream, along with other stuff, using Insight as currency. The bell itself costs 1 Insight but you need 10 to gain access to the shop (and you don't lose any of it).

Oh wow so that's what that thing is for. Well I have plenty now so I'll go check it out. Thanks!

Question about the music box quest

Do you ever get to meet that little girl again?

Oh, and should I buy that 10k church key?
