Question: I'm in Ol
d Yarhnam
and I just got the first shortcut there. Am I
supposed to kill those two hunters? I just ran passed cuz they wrecked me both times I tried to kill them, and that's what ended up with me opening the shortcut and calling it quits for now. How far till boss 3, also?

I have a feeling I'm in need of some tutorial videos.

Love the game and have died probably 5 times already in the first 15 minutes.

Too many buttons and gestures and things to deal with but it's all good! D:

First boss and most enemies give me no trouble, but that one
executioner enemy
on the shortcut just short of the
first ladder
is giving me a headache.

Finally beat cleric boss, took me like 5 times. First souls game ever. Damn I suck. Did some grinding after dying 4 times in a row to get more blood flasks or whatever they are called, ended up getting 2 levels and when went I went back I destroyed the boss (by my standards).

You are close. You
don't need to kill them.

How exactly do I parry this time? How do I know I landed the gunshot with the right timing?

I can't figure out how to repeat the backstab either.

It is a hard start that is for sure, I went with it because I like Dex weapons, but this game along with DS 2 feel harder for Dex starts than DS ever did.

Also is there any way to change my weapon I got a
sword hunter item, and another hunter item
Are this what are needed for changing your weapon? If so, where do I go to do that?

I love the cane, I've had zero issues with it and I've only died twice since starting the game (just started in the third area after the second boss).

Use what you wanna use. I'm using the cane and have had little trouble with it overall. On my way to the third boss.

It's my first game on the series. Although I saw a few gameplays on the axe and I don't feel the heavy weapon style, I'd enjoy a quick and light weapon like the cane.

Try opening with a dodge to the side followed up with an attack instead of attacking head on. You can tear these guys up pretty well if you can get to their sides or back. They're really slow to turn.

Also, instead of using your entire stamina in one go, try to only get a few hits in, then dodging away before they can attack. With no shields, proper positioning is the key to staying out of harms way.

If they crowd you too much try using your gun or transformed weapon to get a little space between you and them.

Better yet, take them back to the giant bonfire and let them kill themselves?

*shrugs*

The ai is still dead set on killing you so much, that they are predictable.

Been watching tons of footage of this game. Looks so good. Makes me wish I went Wii U + PS4 rather than Wii U + Xbox One. Saving for school so no way I'll be getting a new console any time soon, but damn. Maybe near the end of the generation I can justify getting a PS4.

How reliable is the summoning bell? I tried it twice and nobody came to my aide.

to go assist someone else's game, you have to yourself ring an alternate "small helper bell" or whatever it's called. so both people ring their balls and the game matches them up.

the problem is they kinda hid this smaller bell item for helpers on an insight merchant that I didn't even know existed until 20 hours in. I suspect because of this lots of people don't know how to assist.

armor upgrades won't save you if you're getting your ass beat by the cleric boss. watch his movements closely, try to stay at about mid distance between attacks (too far and he does a leap, which is a bit less easy to manage) and work him down. it's very doable if you focus, daniel-san.

I also had trouble reliably landing parries on cleric beast. I succeeded when I stopped spending the whole fight trying to go for them. just focus on dodge and wack.

Just killed CB again on my arcane restart and I couldn't get the parry stuff to trigger more than once with the gun, either. Got it to work a second time by hitting it in the face with the saw cleaver, and a third for no reason, perhaps a poise meter of some sort that I broke by slashing away.

As soon as they try to attack you, shoot.

That's it. You will get the classic Souls slo mo sound, except I find that you can customize how you wanna kill their ass.

I just made it to the mansion in the first level without dying, and it feels like a major feat! I still did not find any lamps or gates to the first spawn area. I'm scared :(

Did I miss anything?

Where do you get the small resonant bell? I'd love to help out some others and get some much needed levels in the process.

You need
10 Insight and then you can buy it from Messengers in the Hunter's Dream, along with other stuff, using Insight as currency. The bell itself costs 1 Insight but you need 10 to gain access to the shop (and you don't lose any of it).

The enemy would be down for a second where you can land a riposte on them.

Using what? Maybe I am attacking too early but I hit them after they appear to be stunned and fall down and it just does a regular attack and brings them back to normal animation frames.

i feel like ive been playing for a long time after beating the second boss without having run into the third boss

i assume the third boss is in
old yharnum?

Can't get coop to work tonight. Sitting outside boss 3 door but can't connect to anyone and no one has connected to me.

I hit post and got summoned, of course.
