The games tough but fun. Though not as tough as I initially thought it was, at the beginning I clicked on the tombstone and left the dream as soon as I got in. Which resulted in 45 minutes of me punching things to death and running away a lot.

You can cheese him if you want. Right when you get up there just start blasting him with a gun and don't stop. He should get pushed off.

You dont even need to cheese it, ordinary combos seem to do it as well, I accidentally did it with the Hunter Axe

So is this game actually harder than Dark Souls from what you guys have played so far?

I'm finding it easier, but mostly because I like the fast paced dodge step you do. I'm finding I'm a lot better at dodging in this game than in dark souls, it may just be that the dodge is more forgiving here, idk.

Beat Father Gas on my third try. Used Malotovs to finish off the third stage. Went back and played with three friends and we utterly stunned locked the poor bastard. So be wary of coop.

Did anyone give the red brooch back to the little girl instead of consuming it for a blood gem. I gave it to her and am a little curious what it means for later and if there is a good reward for it.

Man
Blood-Starved Beast
was hard. I could get it down to
whatever the health is when the AOE poison effect starts
then between my panic and the health drain i'd get caught up in that grab move and get killed. All came down to taking my time and parrying with my pistol. Gotta go farm Blood Vials now because I used all my stock lol

Sooo where too after
Blood-Starved Beast? I assume the Gatling gun dude is still shooting fucks and I'd like to kill him on general principle but I assume that wont lead to the next area will it?

where you can go:
There is a new door open from the cathedral ward waypoint, that's the only place I've found, but I've yet to get to wherever it is going,

Cheesing the gatling gun dude:
You can cheese the hell out of the gatling gun dude if you want. just pound L2 once you get to the top of the ladder with the blunderbuss and you can stagger his ass off the roof.

His soul won't be reachable but if you warp out and back he's dead and you can pick it up next to the gun

Played for about three hours and took down the Cl
eric Beast on my second attempt and then unlocked some shortcut via an elevator that I believe takes me to another boss battle, as graveyard looked familiar from a trailer.

One question about the bridge leading up to the first boss, though.
Father Gascoigne was there and helped you kill the wolves in the demo. Was that changed, or does something else trigger it
?

Also, is the summoning broken right now? Every time I use the bell, I immediately get booted back to the main menu due to some network error. (The eye icon in the top right decreased in number by one each time, as well.) I've only tried it three times so far, but it doesn't seem to work for me at all.

About the same but it's definitely more streamlined in terms of how you progress. It really does take the best parts of Demons and Dark and throws it into one.

The bosses so far require more precision and execution than the first four bosses in either DeS or DkS but I feel the actual levels themselves are far easier to navigate yourself through.

JMO though

It is for me... easily. Because you are more or less forced into a certain style, rather than having a variety of ways to play and get by certain situations. You are pretty much forced to 'git gud' more here, but after you level up some and settle on a weapon you dig it starts becoming easier. Especially with the normal mobs.

Well I could never do it with cane, but with saw cleaver attacking one of its arms, likely the fluffy left, eventually gets him to stagger. I couldn't beat it with the cane, fuck that cane right in the cane. Saw cleaver all the way

Yeah, it was a total bitch. I finally got him heh

You have to attack when they're in kind of a kneeling state and it should work. It's kinda awkward till you get used to it.

Ok, I think that's how I was doing it. He would slam his fist down for a second and I would do the running jump with R2. It was kind of inconsistent, though

I don't have any real experience with the Souls games but I had heard that leveling too much too early was actually a terrible thing to do. Does the same hold true for Bloodborne? If possible I would like to just farm to raise up my health and stamina.

I think this glitched on me as well cause I died to those two bastards and never saw my soul, er, blood things appear and neither had glowing eyes when i got back. Maybe the birds down the other side?

You know I thought this too, but I found out that in the time that you die sometimes other NPCs from other areas will run and grab your Blood Echoes, usually it's in the vicinity of your death. Hell, I've had werewolves turn their nose up at 16k blood echoes, came back they were there and died again, came back and found out one of the crows on the bridge took it. Easy.

Had to clean off all the blood from my white controller. Sliced my thumb open last night while cooking dinner on a can lid of all things. When going through 3 boss fights in a row yeah the shit opened right up again. :D This game though really is good, granted there are some issues with how enemies are a bit too "sticky" with the fucking attack homing and turn in mid air asides from that quite enjoyable.

World connectivity is fantastic as always along with the love and care that went into crafting it. Really does show with the architexture

So, where the heck am I supposed to go after killing the Blood Starved Beast?

Who kicked my ass btw - needed a co-op buddy to do 95% of the work lol

Perfect

Got the beckoning bell and helped my first guy out with the
father
. Absolutely wrecked his ass. Unlike in Dark Souls though, items do not reset after you return to your world. Used my gun like crazy and lol gotta get more bullets. Gonna farm those shotgun dudes.

How do I get to the
Gatling gun guy anyways? I went down the steps when he started shooting on me

"What's that? The smell of blood. It's enough to make a man sick."

If you played the Souls games mainly with a shield + weapon setup then you might have a harder time. No shields in the game means you have to rely more on evading, parrying and backsteping and if you aren't used to that it will take a bit of time to do so.

Also, there are no bonfires, there are "lanterns" you can activate which will serve as a sort of checkpoint (for fast travel and as a reviving spot when you die), but they won't heal your Hp.

That being said. You can carry more healing items (up to 20, and they drop frequently), your character has more stamina, there is no longer a weight restriction (you can carry all the weapons you want and it won't affect your roll/evade), evading has more invincibility frames and based on my brief experience with parrying (just found out you can actually do that, lol) the timing seems to be more forgiving.

So all in all I've found it to be pretty equal to the souls games. It manages to have a good balance of elements that are both easier and harder than Dark Souls

so the bird lady hunter gave me two things one was the hunter marks the other was something else that I can't find in my inventory. what the hell?

Apparently I missed the third area,
Old Yharnam
, entirely? I'm at the boss of the
Cathedral
. I guess I should probably just finish the boss before going back and finding wherever that other area is. Huh, didn't notice any other paths.
