incorrectit doesn't seem to be as jam-packed as DaS1 was,
Can you progress without defeating a boss?
I remember it being, it certainly is not where you said because I have it and I haven't been there.behind the giant boar in the sewers
Wait, really? Is there a cost for removing a gem?
Lol you would think I would rememeber more clearly but this game is pretty big
One of two things:
Either have a Wiki open
or
Be prepared to spend a lot of time clearing out and scouring areas multiple times
Depends on how you want to find your obscure things. So far it doesn't seem to be as jam-packed as DaS1 was, but I'm still in the first area so who knows.
When I speak gems, I mean thise that augment not the ones for upgrading. You just "unequip" them from the weapon.
First impressions, random thoughts:
- looks like Dark Souls. Not great on a technical level, but better than past games in the series.
- enemies are punishing in a very different way than Dark Souls. A good offense is the best defense this time around.
- my blunderbuss feels useless. I haven't been able to make sense of the stagger timing at all.
- the first world is pretty confusing at first. It took me 2 hours to finally find the shortcut back to the first lamp. The map layout slowly started to come together in my head at that point. Still, the map design is far more complex than Dark Souls, which had far less branching paths.
- those crows are terrifying and hilarious
- the charge mechanic feels pretty great, especially with the hammer.
- I don't find myself switching between weapon modes that often mid-combo. I feel the weapon switch attack animation should deal more damage to reward switching mid-combo.
I've beaten the first boss and gotten to the second. Actually, I got to the second boss first and decided to explore some more when I spent all of my blood vials fighting him, and ended up stumbling on the first boss at that point. Mostly using the axe...I just got the hammer and while it does a lot of damage if you can time the charge attack right, it's pretty slow and punishing if you miss an attack or fail to stagger an enemy.
The room afterthe witches boss
Thank you =}You find the workshop tool in. Forgot the exact location though.a chest in central yharnam
I just focused raising my leveling points on Endurance (raises stamina and POISON RESISTANCE).Having some antidotes in stand-by also helped.
I am getting a rainbow like shimmer in the game. It tends to come off metal railings and carriages.
Who is the first boss in the game? Before I had to go to work yesterday my first boss encounter was Father G. He stomped me out but I had to leave for work. Is the Cleric Beast supposed to be the first one? I'm kind of confused.
Am I the only one who got owned by the patrolling group in the starting area ?
I mean I pull them to the stair I miscalculated my dodge distance it seems and they all attacked me at the same time and got one shoted -__-
Closer to Demon's. Bloodborne rewards curiosity and exploration as much as any of the Souls games, but a Wiki can substitute. Is it closer to demons souls or dark souls?
Is this the kind of game you need a wiki open or else you'll miss a bunch of obscure things?
I don't know if I know the difference, yet. (I don't think I've seen anywhere to upgrade a weapon.) I have a Tempering Blood Gemstone that seems to fit in the radial slot of my weapon, but I don't want to do anything irreversible. When I speak gems, I mean those that augment not the ones for upgrading. Anyone?
How do you apply runes?

EDIT: Okay, I dared to press X and it just equipped it. Phew. Wish I dared to do this earlier.
I think there is no order. Most ppl are going to fight the cleric beast first because it's easier to find.
Id say Cleric Beast is. Just due to general location and ease to find. Plus truthfully CB is easier than the good Father.
Has anyone else seen that interstellar-esque ball of light in that grave site right out of the church?
Ran into an annoying bug yesterday. One of those white dogs was invincible. Usually they die after 2 R1 hits of the hunter axe, but this one just wouldn't die after 15+ hits even though his health bar was empty. Had to let it kill me because I was tired of it following and attacking me...
What are you guys talking about :OI don't know if I know the difference, yet. (I don't think I've seen anywhere to upgrade a weapon.) I have a Tempering Blood Gemstone that seems to fit in the radial slot of my weapon, but I don't want to do anything irreversible.

I was in the Blood Gem Fortification menu at the workshop. Just added some minor regen and physical attack buffs to my weapon, apparently! What are you guys talking about :O
Lol it's waaaay too late for that. Wtf is that thingDon't get close to it.
Is there any other way farming insight, besides discovering and beating bosses? I would love to engage in coop.
So you can upgrade them and then give them buffs?I was in the Blood Gem Fortification menu at the workshop. Just added some minor regen and physical attack buffs to my weapon, apparently!
Yes I was curious as to what it does. So I told my friend who was playing the game simultaneously with me to go there and let it touch him and see what happens.Has anyone else seen that interstellar-esque ball of light in that grave site right out of the church?
Rats in sewer.
So you can upgrade them and then give them buffs?
You can unequip them again?

He told mea hand came out of it and grabbed him, lifted him a few feet in the air and killed him. Then something about getting "Frenzied" came up on the screen? In any case I don't think I want to try for myself
I didn't see any options to upgrade (which I still am not sure if it's a different menu yet), but yeah, I just equipped it into one of my weapon's gem slots. (I could equip and unequip it however I wanted.)So you can upgrade them and then give them buffs?
