HP Stream 7 £50 @ Microsoft Store

I own the ipad 3 so I can compare them.

Browsing is a little slow on my windows tablet but I turned off speedstep (stops the cpu dropping to 0.49ghz when not in use) and the reaction time for browsing increased a lot.

Video playback on the windows tablet uses the normal flash video stuff and it runs like shit, youtube and twitch video on iPad is miles smoother but you need to use the twitch app to do so, on the windows tablet I can browse video websites just like I would on my desktop.

If you want a small windows tablet just for browsing I would say pass on it, even on my 10 inch tablet I miss-click buttons designed for mouse input more often then I hit them.
 
Its performance is between iPad 4 and iPad Air on benchmarks. The Metro version of Internet Explorer is a delight and unlike iPad you can have several tabs open without them reloading.

Sadly this does not work. It always give an error and won't allow me to check out. It does give me the option of then using a billing adress of my country , which then allows me to go to the checkout page. But once I click buy it fails (although they sucessfully charge me the 1€ temporary charge...)

Remember when it upgrades to windows 10 you can stream xbox one games (Like the WiiU to WiiU tablet on it)
 
Talked myself out by early Morning then the code expired so thought is saved...new code turns up in afternoon, bought just mins before it expired it seems.
 
I'd pull the trigger if these had HDMI out. Might wait on a Winbook 700 sale instead (or just wait for the next round of models from everyone). Edit: Oh, with only 16gb the Winbook might not be Windows 10 ready... guess waiting for the next models from everyone it is.

should be viewable when you login under 'Your Orders' but mine took a while to show, they must have sold a couple of thousand judging by the hotukdeals site so may be slow to update mate.

How do the specs compared to a Samsung Galaxy 3, 7in tablet? If the promo code was still going I would of probably picked this one up. I don't think my Samsung is very good, but I don't have very much experience with tablets.

I have a feeling I won't be receiving my order.

When I checked the website yesterday, my order was 'in process'. Just checked again today and my order history is empty - no trace of my order at all =(

Ah well, it was worth a try.

That's what mine says too, but UPS still delivered my tablet today. I guess you haven't received an order confirmation yet? It took a full 24 hours for me to get mine.

I got a Stream 7 and an iPad 4 + an old 2.

For browsing the Stream 7 performs about the same as the 4. However, the screen is plastic and not glass, like the iPads, which means there's more resistance when you scroll and finger marks are more visible. Also, the battery life is poor when the Stream 7 is "off", so you can't put it down and expect it to work days later.

But for £50 it's very much worth it. I paid twice of that and I'm happy with mine.

YouTube crashes more often on the Stream 7, but other than that the performance is identical to the iPad. I've also watched Netflix HD without any issues*.

* Except the wobbly headphone audio, of course.
 
My order has also vanished. Damn you, Microsoft!

Edit: MS support say my order is fine - they are having website issues. Game on!
 
Ordered at about 9am yesterday got both of mine delivered about 2:30pm today, really impressed with the speed of delivery.

To everyone saying their order has been cancelled i think it's a bug. Mine also says 'No orders were found' but i also had windows 8 from a year ago and i've had a order conformation for the hp stream 7, yet both are gone from the orders page.

So im not certain it has actually been cancelled.

with stuff like twitch if you watch a stream in VLC instead of the browser using flash the performance is double and uses less battery, it's watchable flash video sure but it sucks still. Never tried netflix on my linx 10 but maybe their player is better.

A lot of these windows devices right now all use the same chipsets so it's just a matter of size and price, i went with a 10" model in prep for windows 10 personally.

Correct, Microsoft support have confirmed that hundreds of people have had this problem and have been contacting them. They said the order will go through and we should receive a notification from UPS shortly :)

I'm envious - I ordered on Monday and just got my shipping confirmation this morning. Still hasn't moved to In Transit. Curses.

I've got nothing from them apart from my confirmation email, just checking their website and my order has also disappeared from the order history too.
Each tablet was delivered in it's own box which I thought was kind of strange.

I'm wondering if they were meaning to cancel all the orders but just cancelled any £50 orders or single tablet orders...
 
It seems these are now turning up on people's door steps. How does it perform in gaming? I was planning to use mine as a retro emulation box. If it can go up to Dreamcast level I'll be impressed.

It can go up to Dreamcast. Even PS2 on some titles, if you're not too regarding on performances.
 
So I ordered mine on Tuesday and it is still sitting at "Order in Process" should I be worried as other are getting theirs now?

Chatted to someone a moment earlier. Seems like loads of people grabbed them, so the processing is a bit delayed but people are getting them.
