I'm torn because I wanna hang out here since I'm stuck at work, but there are too many mild spoilers for me with only a couple hours of progress/playtime.

Finding the
Hunter gear
in the
sewers
blindly was one of the highlights of my session last night.

I did just learn some useful info on parrying in the OP that I had not figured out yet, too.

I think this game shouldn't have been reviewed until the online experience was available. I'm pretty sure it wasn't, right? It's honestly fucking worse than Demon's or Dark Souls, which is insanely frustrating. Insight being as limited as it is, I want to play cooperatively with someone, well too fucking bad because nobody connects to me and it wastes Insight. Something I'd like to save 10 of at the very least, but no it goes to the fucking wind.

surprised...

why would you want to return it ?

The game is probably the best of the souls games.

I do like the gameplay. I just hate the camera on the first boss and it seems you are battling that more than to Cleric as you just need to stand behind it and bash. I'm just squished against the wall all the time and thats just a bad design.

Not sure, but that really narrows down on who can summon you... I mean

-Has to be a person with gaf password on at the same time
-They have to be within 10 levels
-They have to be in the same zone
-They have to have their bell ringing (which does cost insight).

Is it 10 levels at all times? Or percentage based like DS1?

Stop locking on. It'll help and you can just roll away if need be. That's what I do with big bosses in Souls games. Cause the camera goes wonky.

I spent yesterday evening just screwing around in the first area, practicing dodging, weapon movesets, riposting, etc. I literally can't pick up any more blood vials because I've got 100 of them in storage, or whatever the limit is. They drop 2-3 at a time it seems like.

Cool. That's where I was thinking since I'd be able to mow stuff down over there at this point.

Oh god, I really don't want to fight this
crazy guy at the base of the gatling gun tower
again.

They don't respawn.

Anyone else think the DLC for Bloodborne is going to be like the Dark Souls Artorias stuff, where players travel back and see how all this mess started?

I honestly didn't realize how prevalent using shields/blocking was in the Souls games until I started reading this thread. Every Souls character I've played has been weapon in main hand/ magic in off hand. Or in the case of Souls 2 I dual wielded with magic as a back up. So not having a shield and relying on dodging is basically second nature to me.

To everyone who is experiencing no shield play in Bloodborne for the first time, I recommend going back and playing Souls shieldless too. Makes them completely different games!

I've always rolled with a shield in Souls, but I'm loving the agility of the character in Bloodborne. I prefer it.

I'll ask again those later in the game what armor are you wearing? Still wearing hunter armor from beginning or something else?

I'm two areas in on the second headstone. What I wear depends on the type of damage enemies do in the region, and whatever I want to be fashionable or not.

I killed the Raven Hunter NPC very early in the game, so I often wear her gear when I want to look fancy.

Ummm, the boss after boss 3 is
darkbeast
right? Dude is crazy hard, feels like I'm skipping an area...

First I had 99 Bullets in storage, and only like 20 Vials, now that's reversed. I'm maxed out on Vials and starting to chew through my Bullet supply, now. I started using the Repeating Pistol, which uses 2 bullets per shot.

Exactly 4 hours and 54 minutes played.

First boss still alive..

I can beat o&s, 4 kings and artorias at level 1 but I can't beat the first boss of Bloodborne.

fml..

I did that too but with slightly different results. I used to just run bow or magic but the lack of ranged attacks means that you need to successfully dodge, which is wrecking me.

Came home from work, went out to buy bloodborne, release day and all. Finally home with the game i plug in my ps4 and boot it up. First I have to update ps4 firmware, but thats ok since they are really quick. Then i boot up BB and im faced with a game update screen. 2,7 gb, but thats not too bad with a good (100/100) connection. But this very day I get about 300 kbyte/second from PSN and it says I have to wait 4 hours to play. Thanks Sony, evening fucking ruined.

I'll go play some PC instead ...

I don't think it's that bad, but it is a major issue, and I'm confused why they changed it. Why not just have the helper ring a bell, and have a little messenger circle on the ground that says "Summon Hunter? (Use Insight)"?

Sure! It took me a bit to figure this out because I was looking around the same area as you:
From the great cathedral go all the way down the stairs and through a large set of gates. You'll see to giant axe men to your left and right. Kill the one on the right and go through a set of doors there. Have fun!

I'm at the same boss progress as mellow. But isn't that just the way into the
Forbidden Forest
? Killed every enemy there and ran up and down that huge area and didn't find anything except for two elevator shortcuts. Is there some super hidden boss/event I missed?

Anyone who ordered through thegamecollection receive their copy yet? (UK)

Worryingly, my order says 'awaiting stock/release' on their website. Not had a mail from them to say it might be delayed but will be giving them a ring tomorrow either way. My weekend plans will be royally fucked if it doesn't turn up on Friday.

Can someone help me, I'm level 47, killed about 6 bosses, and don't know where to go

I killed that vicar boss in cathedral, then went to hemwick and killed the witch, then went to yaha'rghul and killed the big electricity beast. But after each of these was a dead end or shortcut to somewhere I've already been.

I am not alone!

I am 5 and half hour in, level 19 and only the first boss is dead :p

For most of us I don't think it matters because we will be playing it solo.

Update is just for online features, pretty sure. Just play offline while it downloads. That's what I did.

The
witch
is usually the fifth boss. I recommend
Old Yharnam
after the Sewers and initial part of chapel district.

Thanks, I've gone there but turned back after some in-game advice :P

Actually I just thought it was going to be a tough area. I'll head back there now.

I know the witch has the
rune tool
and I have one rune now, but I can wait.

I did that to get to
Vicar Amelia and get her pendant that is still one of my weapon sockets

You have two options:

A: check the path l
eft of her
arena

B: tell the doo
rman near the cathedral the password you learned from Amelia to open a different area.

2 more hours till im home and then MORE BLOODBORNEEEEE

actually, will prob upload the rest of my videos first. dont want to have 40 videos in need of uploading and editing

Yep, got mine today.

I think they're getting more in stock tomorrow, so you should have it on Friday.

the rushing through zones after you die a couple of times and then doing worse of course is real >_>

So I got my Strength to level 25, Ludwig’s Holy Blade and Hunter’s Axe are facerolling things, but I’m tempted to start leveling Skill since I see it would raise my damage with either weapon even more.

So tempting. Skill, Endurance, or more Vitality? Level 35 by the way. I’ll level up all of these anyways but I’m still on
that bitch Amelia.
