So I can technically "beat" the game right now. My thoughts on the difficulty in MSPaint chart form.

Im pretty sure this is going to be an unpopular opinion but i think the parry window is too large

I think its too difficult to spot where and when the window should be. I have seen people just spam bullets and it hits, just because the enemy started swinging.

Is there a hidden way or something to the
minigun dude in Old Yharnam
? I can't be the only one who thinks he's cheap as fuck. I'm particularly having problems with
the are with that hostile hunter. Almost managed to cheese him to death but I fucked up.

There goes 10k echoes.

is the repeating pistol in any way shape or form ever worth it? a slight increase of damage doesn't seem important for a gun, but is there something I'm missing?

How can people say this game has bad graphics. The game looks really good and the art style is amazing.

It's mostly the technical aspects that are disappointing, I don't mind the framerate but the shimmering doesn't let the art shine to it's full potential.

Slaughtered the first boss. He looked awesome and was very straightforward. I only had 6 blood vials but got the job done, at the end of the fight I had to go for broke and swing for the fences to recharge life and hopefully kill him, was great fun.

Just exploring further into the level. Those
rats
are HIDEOUS. Really sprawling layout and haven't figured out where to go next. So far, died a bit, looked around in awe at the beautiful art design.

I can't explain how awesome it is to have a truly great game to play on my underused PS4. Getting the game early from the US store was so worth it.

It is enormous for some enemies. I've parried one of the slab-handed big guys early on when I didn't even see him in the middle of an attack animation. Gun went off by accident and he went down and I just thought, Well, don't mind if I do!

Fuuuu there are two of them?!

The second one shows up a bit further in.
I just ran from the second and climbed up a nearby ladder to deal with the first dude. It wasn't too bad once I realized what they were trying to do to me. Then I could come down and fight the guy one on one.

No it's useless - like every pistol. Just get that one item to boost pistol dmg and you won't even need anything else. You don't kill anything (except the canon) with the pistol.

So when you first come out of the starting area there's a gate in the courtyard before central yarnham. I assume this opens later as it's the only place I haven't been yet there.

Also holy crap. Go back and talk to ppl in the early areas. Dude just gave me a (weapon)
flamethrower
. Sweet.

Finally got home. Put the disc in my PS4, hopefully it's finished with everything before I'm done eating. Can't wait to finally get into this.

Honest critiques about 10-15 hours in:

-It might just be me, but the map/layout of the city areas can be a little bit confusing. In Dark Souls when you unlocked a short-cut, it was pretty much always "sweet, that's where it takes me!". In Bloodborne, more often it is "okay, where the hell am I now? I seem to vaguely remember this place...".

-In the early going, there isn't nearly as much customization with armor, weapons, etc and the lack of rings is too bad because they always had some really interesting effects. Like EviLore, I have yet to see any point in stat builds besides adequate Strength/Skill to meet weapon requirements, and then pump VIT and Stamina. I can't help but think that these changes are going to seriously hamper replayability.

-Loading is long, obviously, but it would have been nice if there had been item descriptions on the loading screens again; that was always fun. I wonder if they didn't do it this time because there appears to be much less equipment in the game.

-Only having consumable items (both healing and ammo) is annoying. You get tons of them, yes, but I've run out multiple times now and had to go farming for both healing items and bullets. I thought Dark Souls 2 handled this very well, having limited rechargable healing items plus the consumables, so I wish they would have used that again.

-Certain areas in the game are damn dark. I've got brightness cranked up both in-game and on my TV, with my torch out, and I can't see shit in some places. It seems like most of the later areas I've been to don't have this problem. I understand mood/atmosphere (like Tomb of the Giants in DS) but it's a bit much for me.

Aside from those points, I am really enjoying the game. Again, I'm only 10-15 hours in so these aren't final impressions, but I have a hard time seeing this game stacking up with Dark Souls as far as quality/replayability/legacy when all is said and done.

Are the Chalice dungeons random or something? What do you get when you finish a dungeon?

So far I put down 2 bosses in the dungeon, but it seems like it'll go on for quite a while lol

Warning: Spoiler contains Spoiler from Old Yharnam

I ran up to him as soon as i got off the ladder and threw him off the building.

LOL you are already further than me!?!

I knew I shouldn't have passed out last night -____-. Trying to get alot of playtime in right now before I head to class/lab in like an hour and half. Wasted over 40 vials trying to fight the
Gatling Guy
straight up and decided to farm shit for the last hour. Gonna try the THIS IS SPAAAAARTA method right now haha.

Ok, not long beat the 2nd boss
;_; poor little girl. I gave the jewel back to her and then she just cried and then when I went back there was no answer. I think maybe if I used it I'd have gotten a gem?

What is up with the (Outside of Cathedral Ward spoiler stuff)
the weird magic thing just outside? If you get caught by it it seems this giant invisible thing picks you up, you get frenzied and then thrown/teleported somewhere?

I think I'm getting into the rhythm now. I found a shield and lol is it useless. I like how gems appear to be the rings of this game. It seems like you can just socket them between weapons and they aren't locked in? Also, I'm putting all my bloodstones into my starting Axe, is that wise? I've found like, 1 other weapon so far and can buy more but they aren't as good as my axe is right now. Should I just keep pumping them into the axe or will I eventually get a cool weapon? Is this axe more of a shitty short sword or more of a black knight halberd situation where it can carry me for the game if I let it?

Speaking of that, I just helped someone with that fight. They seemed to stun the boss when it
entered its third form and I had no idea what was going on. Did I miss something?

Theres a music box you can get from a little girl in a window that when used stuns him for a few seconds when he's in his third form. Only way I was able to beat him

Anyone figure out the transform stat? It's on a rune. I thought that was what the patch was for. My friend beat the game and still has no idea what it does. I'm nearing the end as well...

oh damn npc decision time... (post-second boss spoilers)

send people to the clinic or church? D:

i know my mind is leaning towards the latter but I can never be too sure with these damn games! lol

I'm going back and doing my first upgrade. What would you guys recommend? Vit/End/Str/Skill/Bloodtinge/Arcane?

I plan on End but I dunno if that's recommended in this game over another.

They used an item to stun him.
Music Box

I keep it in my personal effects for this fight, specifically to use during
his transformation. After the first time it will only work occasionally

Is this like Dark Souls 2 where the enemies in an area disappear after you kill them off a certain numbers of times-to prevent excessive grinding?

Finally got the Small Resonant Bell. Stuck around the first area and coop's been coming hot and heavy. Dark Souls (PC) was such a lonely experience compared to this. I suppose that's what happens when you wait so long to buy it.

wait he had a third form? I remember him transforming once and then I killed him. He was much slower and easier to parry at that point.

I don't know never had that problem. I thought it was cool like in Demons' Souls.

Trust me.. that will change with NG+ where the real game begins. Just specialize in one skill on the initial run.

I hate that too but hopefuly the patch will fix that a bit.

You won't do this after a bit anymore because you will enough money to stack healing items. At the latest in NG+

This is not cool. The areas are dark because you are required to use the torch...

You haven't seen anything! :D

Oh.. there you go. :)

Performance is baaaaaad in Old Yarnham. Every so often the game hitches for a bit, and I got the weird hitch + speaker beep thing that other people were complaining about.
