think I'm done with this game

every time i get BSB low i manage to get caught in that bullshit one hit kill

I've done it at least 7 times now

Honestly, I didn't have too much trouble just keep dodging and hit every once an awhile.

If all else fails, COOP man, taking on Bosses in this game with other hunters is amazing.

Also more impressions from me:

  • Well, I got to another Boss Fight,
    Vicar Amelia
I ended up fighting her a few times before deciding to seek out the
    abandoned Hunter Workshop
  • The farther I get in this game the more I am just amazed by the design. This is absolutely fantastic, the visuals are tight and look amazing. The sun is currently setting after
    3 bosses down
    .
  • Fighting
    Hunter NPCs
is absolutely thrilling, and gives me a view into PVP which I haven't tried yet
  • COOP is amazing, love it but sometimes there is either serious lag issues or some kind BAD framerate drop. I think it's more networking because after awhile the connection became stable and everything was normal.
  • My favorite weapons so far are: the Cane, The Axe, and The Flamesprayer. Man that and the torch are so fucking OP.
  • I love that they still have the whole NPC branching quest thing, in the first area with the first window NPC if you
go back after each boss you beat, he has new dialogue, eventually he gives you a flamesprayer, and asks you not to worry about him. I found several other NPCs who happen who I ended up saving by sending either to Iosefka's Clinic or the Oedeon Chapel. I sent two to the chapel and two to Iosefka, apparently Iosefka rewards you but I haven't been back to collect.
  • Question:
I haven't found the female hunter that gives you a bold hunters mark and the brush off gesture. Where is she?
    • I managed to get
kidnapped by Bagman, and taken to a strange city/prison thing
where they are apparently sacrificing children to some terrifying Elder God thing
    • I managed to find an item from a tower in the cathedral ward that will stop a certain boss from
      healing.
    • I'm at the
      Abandoned Workshop
and boy what a pain in the fucking ass it is to get there unless you have high vit, because you have to fall to get to the door and it isn't the set of doors at the bottom.
    • Story so Far: From what I gathered is the church found a bunch of unholy Lovecraftian knowledge linked to a bunch of deities in the cosmos. They found the secrets of blood, started looking into it and surprise surprise that forbidden knowledge starts changing everyone into horrible lovecraft monsters and werewolves. The only partial cure seems to be transfusions of blood, paleblood or pureblood or something but this can also turn you into a beast. Although it is unclear why exactly, but I have a feeling those church fuckers know more than they are letting on...like pretty much any Lovecraftian cult. It seems most of the town is actually terrified of the church, despite also worshiping them(probably out of fear). Father Gascoigne was a priest from a far away land, he turned into a beast after murdering his wife as a beast, which is probably why the music box makes him sick., since blood is also a medium for memory, sounds can bring back memories too. So basically you come along and it's unclear how long the hunt has actually been going on and it's implied that it has been going on for hundreds of years if not thousands. The hunt never ended, and whatever dark forces at work are perpetually corrupting everything. The fate of the world more or less lies in your hands, or at least a part of the mystery of saving it. I'm probably overgeneralizing, since I don't feel like getting too detailed.

Oh, and I got to a point in the Cathedral Ward where
I literally encountered a Star-spawn of Cthulhu. Literally. It's amazing because it's almost exactly how I imagined them being when I read Lovecraft's work. http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/315/b/f/star_spawn_of_cthulhu_by_fafnirx-d6tuxsf.jpg here is a depiction of one, but I feel From Softwares depiction is far more accurate.

If this game gets anymore Lovecraft I will lose my fucking shit. This is perfection, this game.

Too bad I have to stop playing by April 3rd due to my reconstructive shoulder surgery being scheduled. I won't be able to play until MGSV:TPP comes out.

Is bloodtinge and arcane even worth leveling up? I have no idea what they even do. Are there some cool weapons that require these to be high? or will i be alright sticking with skill and strength?

Arcane is linked to item discovery. I started out as the high Arcane choice and I haven't had any problems finding items/grinding because I get tons of drops. That's as much as it's been useful for early game though.

Lol, did you kill them all with your bare hands?

You are supposed to die there, friend!
I died, got weapons, went back and killed them, then was in central Yharnam with two closed gates and a door which must be scenery. I found the lady in the clinic but no more content.

How do I put myself up for summoning? Do I consume any item or just need an unlimited use item? I want to help people at the beginning =3
(Even though I'm a beginner myself; just got to Father G)

With 10 insight you can buy a special item with unlimited use.

I'm stuck at the very start of the game.
I've killed three men and a werewolf, and now I only have locked gates. Am I missing something?
I'd love to die more but I can't find more game.

It's going to be a loooooong game for you.

Pull the lever to drop the ladder.

Right next to the torch wielding dude.. should be a device you pull to lower the ladder.

If you are where I think you are, which is the very beginning, there should be a device near the building that will drop a ladder and allow you to begin progressing. Looks like a giant crank.

Also, if you haven't died by this point you don't need to since the first lantern is right above the ladder, and it'll take you where you would go normally if you had died, so it's all good.

Man I stink. No matter what I do I cant beat the cleric boss. Dont know if I need to farm echoes to upgrade my level or load up on blood viles or molotovs.

Farthest I can get him down to is just under half.

shoot him head with pistol, when he bows over stunned hit him in the head with weapon. after that stay close, when he attacks dodge behind him and aim for his head again. If you time it right it will stun him again and you can do a special move on him with the attack button while facing him

Anyone having trouble with the beckoning and resonant bells? My friend and I both ring ours, with a password, but it just searches forever and doesn't match us. We're both sitting just outside the boss area.

the
Stake Driver
is so fucking legit. 1 shotting those werewolves is super satisfying after those 2 cunts wrecked me at the start of the game

This is about to be a dumb ass question but... what are these specters for? They just make some phantom dude run around for some reason. I don't get it.

Tried to help about 10 people kill BSB. 9 hosts died, 1 succeeded.

Went in and killed that mofo in my world afterwards. I somehow found Cleric Beast a lot more difficult :O

I would leave them as dump stats for (stats you only level when you've reached the soft/hard cap in other stuff). Though Arcane is pretty good for using
Ludwig's Holy Sword
. I have a pretty strong feeling people will start to figure builds out that take advantage of the stats at a later time, though.

Why for that sword?

I actually do not have the game yet (tomorrow yay) but I think there's a lever that lowers a ladder in that beginning area.

V

A
melia
was kicking my ass, so I decided to explore a bit and found another path leading to
Old Yharnam
. Is this where I should have gone after beating the 2nd boss?

Just picked up mine a few moments ago. Have it at +3 now. Not as much straight damage as my cleaver but it's R2 charge HOLY SHIT :O

The red dudes you see are how people died before you in that spot. The white dudes are people playing in real time near your area.

A shit ton of red stains on the floor mean that the area is probably dangerous and you should proceed with caution.

In the Cathedral Quarter, I found some new garb on a dead Hunter, but if I stand near his body, some fucked up shit happens. What in the world?

Man, the
Reiterpallasch
is legit. I'm glad since for the first time ever in a Souls game I won't be using a katana
(because Chikage is bleh, that lame transformed state)
and I was hurting for a weapon that felt right.

As a semi newcomer to these games, I have to say part of the fun of Bloodborne is basically because the enemies thrown at you are so menacing it legitimately stresses me out. There is SO much risk involved. Almost every new encounter (even yard trash) is intimidating not only in looks but also in not knowing how to deal with said beast. It makes this game so tense it's awesome. Working up that courage to just go for it, you know? I can't tell you how many times I looked at a beast and said to myself "oh HELL no" haha.

Has anyone got this digitally here? I pre ordered earlier and the download was 27GB then it switched over to 5 and a half. Does that mean I can get going with only the first part of the download while it finishes the rest?

Hoping so since I'd love to try it tonight but the whole download likely won't be done until tomorrow afternoon.

I've been doing co op

thats the other crusher

i even had 2 other hunters with me and still managed to get caught in the OHK.. i don't even know what to look for when he does that.. ill be dodging everything fine and then all of a sudden..

I saw that too, there was a lot of bloodstains near the area so I was on my toes. No clue what it does but I backed the fuck out of there before it could kill me whatever it was.

Damn, that's dope.

Get ready to lose your shit

I can hardly wait to lose my shit.

I asked in the other thread, but:

Is there a convenient way to get Insight in the game?

I managed to find some Madman Skulls early and got more after beating Boss 1 and 2, but is there some other way I don't know about to retrieve these?

I'm hovering at 8 and really want 10. :/
Unless I'm mistaken, once I get 10
a new merchant appears in the Dream and sells something that can allow me to help other players- and I get insight by doing that, yes?

You get them by beating and finding bosses, helping players defeat bosses with the small bell, and consuming the madman skulls. You should have 10 easily right after the 2nd boss.

Just beat M

ogarius

Not sure it I want to join the Vilebloods since I'm not that much of a pvp person. If I talk to the queen will I be forced to join the covenant or can I decide at a later time after talking to her. Could I just back out of the converation and the option to join will still be there? Or should I avoid her for now? I picked up the summons on the rigt which I believe I'm supposed to give to Albert unless there's something ese to it. Also I heard there was a rapier in Cainhurst. Where it at?

Sometime it feels like finding shortcuts is more rewarding than finding anything else.

It's like - "OMG - I can go RIGHT TO THAT ***** NOW! NO MORE FIGHTING THAT ***** ALONG THE WAY!!!!"

Same here lol. But once you learn them, take them down in seconds flat, feels amazing.

This is my first souls-type game, and I think I'm hooked. I've only played for around 5 hours - and have just been exploring the entire Central Yharam area - the atmosphere is so good.

I fought the Cleric Beast once, and he kicked my arse - any tips? I'm using the Threaded Cane and blunderbuss combination, which I think may not have been the best choice, but I've +2 fortified the cane already, and I've bought the Yharam Hunter gear (just before I found a full hunter outfit down in the sewers)

How often should I try and level up? At the moment I'm just going on exploration runs around the area, build up a few thousand blood echoes and then go back to the dream area and add points to my attributes - Vitality and Endurance seem to be the main ones to upgrade?

so, yeah - any Cleric Beast tips? I also have torch.

Estus > Grass
Should've been Estus.

It's a pretty decent compromise. Mid-game it is really easy to farm 99 vials even by accident, so if you ever run out at that point it's a gentle suggestion by the game that maybe you should stop trying to fight whatever it is that is killing you so many times and explore elsewhere instead.

I got Ludwig's Holy Blade, but I'm not sure if I like the charged R2 compared to the Hunter Axe.

Does the Hunter Axe get better scaling? STR on mine has only gone up from D > C. It's only at +5 though.
