So at this point you should go to the Tomb of Oedon (where you fought Father G), there should be a pain in the ass hunter NPC in yellow trying to kill you and she will be fighting him. If she dies there you can get the badge, if she wins the fight the questline continues.
christ I really hope that you can fucking respec in this game, I've heard that you can't but let's just hope that no one has found a way yet.
I have already 3 builds that I'd like to try, a bloodtinge one could be really legit. evelyn seems really strong at +10 with that S scaling, as a trick weapon you have the chikage. only problem is what you're gonna use until you get the chikage.
my hands were shaking at the end, because I'd ran out of all my vials after getting the last one to like 25% health and he was spamming the hell out of the attack where
he summons the large snakes out of the ground
and I mean SPAMMING them. At that point I just decided to be aggressive as hell and snatched the victory somehow with a sliver of my health left. shocked. feels good man.
Oh, and for people asking about the forest (I couldn't find it for the longest time either):
- Defeat Vicar Amelia, which will give you the "password" to open the door to the Forbidden Woods. From the lantern where you fought her, go straight down into the main courtyard where the two big dudes were patrolling and the bunch of graves and Madman's Knowledge items are. Take a right past the big dude (most likely sitting down), then go left. You'll see a pathway down and you may see a non-hostile NPC there. Continue on and you'll find the door.
Alright GAF, help me choose my fate. I have two, maybe three, options for how to procede but both result in me getting my shit fucked up. Which should I focus on?
In Old Yahrnam
the only area I haven't been too is blocked by an ultra fast raven cloaked hunter with a saw spear. My attacks and even molotovs barely put a dent in him and he's too fast for me to stun with my gun. I intitially thought I had been invaded by a high level player but I found out he's just a hostile NPC.
In the Cathedral Ward
I can't seem to do a dent in the giant cloaked guy up the left graveyard path's stairway. I may be able to sneak around him, which I think is my best bet for now. I also bought a key for 10k echos that supposedly opens up a path in the Cathedral Ward but it doesn't seem to open the gate I thought it was (right graveyard path). Should I seek that out and come back when I can deal with these enemies better?
If u got molokavs 2 on each will kill them. What I did was aggro one and if two comes I'll lure them to the stairs so I can hit one and run and rinse and repeat. Or be good with ur gun
Killed Vicar finally and took the left path meeting two hunter enemies. Killed the one with the electric mace thing and ran past the other (fuck that shotgun) ended up sprinting past the two big axe enemies into a large circular room. Nothing interactable except the door.
Absolutely LOVING it!
Initially, I wasn't over the moon with it. I rolled a Saw Blade/Pistol combo and just wasn't feeling it.
Last night re-rolled a Axe/Blunderbuss combo and the difference was instantly noticeable, was in 'souls' heaven.
The Cleric beast wasn't 'hard', what made it hard was the terrible camera when locked on to it in an enclosed space. It was absolutely dreadful, in saying that, that's the only issue i've had with the game so far.
Was stoked that I found a shortcut on my second roll pretty much straight away to open up the second gate on the left back to the first Lamp without having to take on the filthy wolves.
Seriously brilliant game so far.
BTW, the difference in upgrading your weapon is MASSIVE. I upgraded my axe 2 levels and the power difference is huge, much bigger I feel than Dark Souls.

The right cathedral path gate is opened by a lever on the other side (I know because I could see it through the gate). The key you bought is for the stairs up and past the large cloaked guy you dsecribed
Finally beat it after procrastinating for a while doing chalice runs and making sure I got everything I wanted to bring into NG+. The last boss was a blast.
This is the one moment so far that had me just fucking lose it -- a combination of shock and then confusion, a common feeling in this game, multiplied by a million in this moment
I started swinging after I saw the portal looking thing, I thought I might hit an invisible enemy, considering I've seen invisible enemies (like the witch) before thinking the game glitched and launched me into the air and out of the map. Only to be killed (kinda/sorta) and awaking and another zone entirely. Probably the creepiest in this game thus far. Once you unlock the locked room, jesus, fuck that room.
Seriously tho, I really need help getting to and beating the G
atling
G
un
guy in Old Yharnam. Can anyone help me? I'm at the Old Yharnam lamp now and can ring my bell if anyone is willing to give it a go with me (only 1 insight left)
