Welp, took a break to do some chalice dungeons, then went back to Y
ahar'gul
and yep, still getting wrecked by trash mobs. Don't think I've ever hated a souls enemy more than those
bell maidens
right now

I love this game so much, i feel like in terms of atmosphere this is one of the greatest games ever.. i don't see many games that can match it in that department

So had my first long run of Bloodborne today. Holy shit. My Blades o Mercy are awesome. I feel like a badass when I button mash my R1 button to infinity and kill kill kill.

Also got into a weird area, that I think is sort of familiar to the painted world of Dark Souls. Actually, this happened twice, for two different areas, but the first time was a bit less special and the second time got me a trophy.

Killed three bosses; 3/4/5. First co-op experience as well. I summoned help for a boss. Being out of vials was mostly the reason; couldn't be bothered to farm them again. Would summon again 10/10.

I have to go back to some NPC's more, because their stories change during the game as well. At first I just got a moan from a door, and then the second time I got an item that led me to that special area.

Haven't been invaded yet luckily. Or sadly.

As for my main gameplay critique; it's not being able to warp between bonfires, and not getting at least a minimum of 4/5 vials.

I will have to see how I'll like the game in retrospect though. I also really liked DS2 when I was playing. These games tend to suck you in. But I think right now this is my favorite. Not so obscure as DS1, awesome interconnected world, more interesting story than DS2, fighting is definitely faster but more also more of the same as the Souls series; instead of holding up shield you just dodge out of the fight to wait. It's still difficult, can't say it's any less difficult than the Souls series though, because the more you play the better you get. And every installment got easier later on. I still get hammered by normal enemies when not paying attention; so yeah. Definitely a true Souls game; and I have yet to start the whole invading and helping business.

Reached the top of the tower in old Yharnam and fought
gatling hunter
We had a nice fight but his shotty got me good at one point and he used this weak moment. Going to fight him again tomorrow. The way to him is really no problem if you look where you are going and what could be cover.

The hunter's axe is so dumb for the early game. I just beat
Father G
and it only took me three tries which would have been two if I hadn't gotten sloppy on the second one. The reach is crazy and the charged attack knocks most of the enemies down even the bigger ones. It also has such a wide swing that you can kill groups of weaker guys with just one attack.
Like the bridge guys before Father G. One charge attack and done.
I don't really know the layout of the areas I've been to so far because I've barely died at all. Think I'm gonna do a few grinding runs to get used to the surroundings a bit more.

people need to stop thinking of the starting weapons as weaker weapons because you start with them. It seems they went with a "every weapon is good and thats why there are only a dozen or so in the game" philosophy.

Damn it, got father gaswhatever down to 1/4 health my first try until I got stuck between some tree and tombstones and couldn't roll my way out =/ so these bold hunter's mark, I can just use it anytime, and if I die after using it I wake up with all my echoes? Is that how it works?

When I knew the game won me over completely: Night after starting, had a dream about having this big party for beating the boss! First thought upon waking up? "Damn, I still have to actually beat that boss!"

I keep saying I'll pace myself to avoid rage traps but, no, I can't stop at this point. Resume instantly from Hunter's Dream is enough to crack me entirely.

Oh, right, and I have no idea who you people are of course, but the few times I've summoned for co-op with the GAF huntword has resulted in some people that were clearly intelligent and immediately figured the call was for making progress and kept the goofing off to a minimum from then on. Thanks!

You can use it anytime, but it will respawn you as soon as you use it. It's not something you equip, it's a consumable.

Bought the game, created a character and when I sat up it said disconnected from server and sent me back to the main menu and corrupted the save. It says the install was not completed? I've tried 3 times, same thing. Forgive me if this has been addressed.

Digital? Did you download the whole game yet or only the initial 5GB?

You can't play online until you have the whole game, but you can play the beginning of the game offline.

cheese him. run up to him as soon as you get off the ladder (ignoring the shotgun blasts) and hit him with a barrage of blades while he's still on the edge of the tower and he'll fall off.

Just saw this on Reddit. First thought in my head: "In Bloodborne it's the other way around, silly wolf".

Questions about some unique usable items, got buried last time. Can I use:
One Third of Umbilical Chord, Gold Pendant, and Tear Stone
without any repercussions for quests later on?

Where did you find Blades o Mercy?

Nope cant beat
logarius in cainhurst
... everytime i summon someone they die like 30 seconds into the fight=/

Im lvl 54 btw

JUst lost about 80k blood on the
drop down below the Healing workshop
.

Fuck platforms.

Anway, is there a good place to grind blood around 5 bosses in?

^^I never understand why people keep so much currency on them unless they're saving up for something.

Just beat amelia. How far away am I from Rom?

I was just told to Ascend The Healing Church, But can't make progress because of a locked door. Do I need to beat that
giant priest dog
?

Please say no

And done. Brilliant game from start to finish. Did a lot of exploring and I think I found all the hidden areas (going by the trophies). Playtime
38 hours
, level
97
.

He's very susceptible to parrying.

In his first stage, you can easily dodge the magic by going into him and exploiting I frames. On the second, practice parrying his swings. Prioritize the planted sword and destroy it asap.

Yeah I can't beat
father g

Father G Boss fight:
Phase 1/2: there is a tight group of tombstones right where you enter. keep him on one side and stay on the other side and use a weapon/mode with range. Take one hit and retreat (especially in phase two when he starts using his long axe mode). You should be safe against his shotty shots.

Do this till he changes and it gets interesting:

Phase 3: Then when he goes into SSJ Manus mode, use the music box + molotov.

First time hearing about this here.
At the moment my created character sits up on the tomb the game says I've been disconnected from the network and sends me back to the menu to start all over again. Super frustrating.

To answer the question above, I have a physical copy. It does give me an error saying the game hasn't finished install yet, but it actually has.

Yay! Beat
Fire Dog in the Chalice Dungeon 1st try and Witches of Hemwick on my second. Almost beat them first time but got hit by the homing thing.

Eh, I do this in all the Souls games. I really don't like to level up TOO much, and I also like the rewarding feeling of having a huge pool of souls/blood.

Congratulations!

As a first time souls player, I'm taking it easy. 10hr of playtime, lvl ~32 I think, Amelia as a next boss. Still a lot of game is ahead of me. :)

Besides the day1 patch have they released any other patches since?

No, but Sony announced they are working on a new one.

So I died and there was some sort of cutscene? Anyway I'm somewhere else now and getting rekt, holy shit.

GO UP, aggro the closest beast, pull it into the staircase, and it will not be able to move to you because of the low ceiling. :D Slowly kill it and then go above. You will find teleport there. :D

Fuck the Cleric Beast man. His lunge punch and his overhead jump both seem like they are tracking me, even if I roll away or run. I can only manage to get 1/3 of his life down before he starts fucking me up. Shit is giving me a headache now.
