I've been finding myself using the cane a lot more lately. At first it was just to switch it up, but I really like it's speed and area of attack against many enemies more. And the whip is awesome crowd control.

I prefer the Stake Driver myself. However, when shit's about to go down I go to my trusty Hunter's Axe.

Dang you caught that too. I'll have to look over her opening introduction to see her again, but I think her medallion was something that she was holding onto. Maybe she was seeing her faith fail her. I see a bit of Maiden Astraea from Demon's Souls in her. Or maybe I'm just making a huge stretch, I dunno...

Ya she was holding it as she was transforming. I assume it was given to her by the guy that died in the cutscene that played when you touched his skull.

Holy shit this game ! I got like 6 different path's I can pursue, it's sooo big it feels.

And I went into the chalice dungeon, boss rekt me. The loading times in the chalice dungeon is really awesome, under 10 seconds when dying and like 15 seconds to get to the hunter's dream.

I love when paths leads to dead ends.

Alright
I killed the witch and I can use runes now. However, is there any other locations to visit from the Hemwick Charnel Lane lamplight or the Witch's Abode lamplight?

GAF I need help. there is one door I cannot unlock: It's in the cathedral ward next to a chest in a room full of vases. any ideas?

Oaths?:
Anybody find an oath other than the vilebloods?

What the hell, enemies respawn despite not using the lantern? Cathedral Ward spoilers:
Went under the tomb inside the cathedral where I fought and killed a werewolf in the dark and then left and went exploring in areas close by. When I came back I was attacked by it again scaring me half to death since I wasn't expecting it to be there. I even joked about how I was going to get attacked by one even though I killed it, didn't think it would come true. This is the first time it has ever happen to me too.

Can't wait to get home from work and get more tries on F.G. Wife is working so I got all the time I want. Friday night combo shall be Bloodborne, Beer and err... Bizza.

Checking the trophy lists for this game and holy shit not even half the people who played this game have beaten the first boss yet. I mean, I know its only been two days, but wow. I wonder how many of those people have just given up on it.

So many great discovery moments that evoke the feeling when you find the Painted World of Ariamis in Dark Souls 1. Just got to the
Nightmare Lecture Building.

Style or moveset, I guess. Otherwise yeah, that thing's a beast.

Charged R2 attack seems straight broken imo. Huge dmg, guaranteed knockdown on human size enemies, huge range, huge regain capability. It's the go to attack for pretty much any enemies that seem absurdly hard for me. "need to cheese a boss? Axe R2 attack" "need to kill 3 hunters at once? Axe R2 attack"

Hah, I've been watching that too. More pressing is Father G's percent(38) since you need to pass him to really get anywhere.

I'm so jealous of you guys playing right now :(... 6 hours to go before I head home.

I'm gonna be spending the entire weekend on this game for sure.

I actually do wonder if they'll nerf it or something because it's nuts. There's even more advantages too:

When you charge and get that blue flash, the move WILL come out even if you get hit(you'll absorb the damage). Since the health system in BB lets you regain it for a time, the swing not only knocks everything on its ass but also heals you if something does a lunge strike or something at you. By the time enemies are back on their feet you can be charging up again.

If it's the
windmill
and I just missed it, I'm going to quit the game forever. Bah. Back I go, then.

My bad, that's not where the shortcut back to the lamp is, that's later. :(

Edit: If you get to where there's lots of
snakes
then you're in the right area for the big shortcut back that's close to the boss.

What level character? That axe is doing a lot more damage than my little cane seems to - looks like better reach too. Wondering whether to start over with a different weapon as I don't like getting in too close.

I extend the axe and kept working on it. It's fantastic because you can reach, but also make sure to lock on and lunge.

Haha, oh I heartily disagree. The only thing Bloodborne needed was just a few more unique items to find

Even though Im no where near finishing, i'll probably end up agreeing. Then again, whatever the first DLC is, could end up blowing all that out of the water. Personally I think the weapons are more than diverse enough, transforming drastically (most of the time) on the fly and everything. If they added some sort of fire weapon that consumed oil, that would be cool. But the gameplay mechanics are far more enjoyable than any Souls game thus far.

I think i'm about to step into a boss arena, so thats probably a good spot to call it a night. Havent found a good replacement for threaded cane yet. I've unlocked the other 3 starters, Kirkhammer and Saw Spear...but Kirk i'm not focused on strength, and Saw spear seems kinda slow for my tastes. Cane and repeater pistol for me atm.

Also I agree, never play this game while tired. Made so many dumb mistakes lol.

So what are people's weapon of choice so far? currently loving the Chikage and Blade of Mercy right now

I'm still very early in the game. So far I've been using the saw cleaver. I usually use R1 attacks on singular enemies, and for packs I go R1 the first one of them and then combo L1 for a sweeping attack and dodge back. Then I ready to blade into closed form for another attack.

So about this shortcut dodging the key after beating BSB, I can't seem to get to the bottom of the massive cylinder shaped room. I can get pretty low, but then there's nothing really for me to land on. Do I just have to keep trying to land an these super duper thin planks that look like I shouldn't even be standing on?

Yes. also, make sure you have full health so you can survive the fall. It's not a required part of the game. you can buy a key to a gate for 10000 and skip the falling part, but there's a couple minor interesting things down there.
