Just beat the giant spider thingy, it turns out its called
Amygdala. Got a sick parry on its massive head :P

Also,
Micolash...WTF.

The
Nightmare areas are my favorite so far. Just awesome.

In that grave yard to the left of lamp post, don't go up the stairs to where that giant guy is, there is another path in area that leads down to elsewhere.

Yeah, I think I went down there
into the church, opened the tomb, lit the lamp there, spoke to the blonde guy who gave me some stuff.
but that seems a dead end too (in fact not really sure why they have a
lantern
there as it is so close to the other one.

Edit: or I could go through that bloody obvious door that I missed before...

This can be a bad game to play in a sunny room. So dark

I'm finding this way too easy. I got from the very beginning, after you die to that beast before you get your weapons, all the way to defeating the Cleric Beast without dying once. Please tell me things get harder?

Apparently you're just better than most people at this game. Within 20 minutes of actual gameplay I died 5+ times and I'd like to think I am better than most at most games.

It's not a dead end, it's a whole area with a boss. Not sure how you missed that..

So has anyone found the abandoned workshop? It's a secret area that pops an achievement.

Gave the small hair comb you find to the doll in Hunter's Dream and she gave me a tear stone. Not sure what to do with the old hunter bone I found in the workshop, it is greyed out all the time.
I assume maybe you use it later in the game. I'm only at the 4th boss.

Keep going down the tomb, look left there is a door there.

Edit: There is a door right next to the lantern, can't miss it.

I'm on the fourth boss. Should I purchase any of the armor available at the insight vendor? I'm still rocking Hunter armor + Yharnam hat. :(

Go through the locked gate in
cathedral ward section (key costs 10k)
and explore until you find the armor there that has high poison resist.

Use fire paper on your weapon.

That combo made the fight very easy.

just after posting i did it

i beat the mothereffing beast through the sheer force of parrying, fuck yeah!!!

how do I lose insight ?
Summon people, buy items, or get fucked by a squid man.

The cane is the hardest weapon to start with.
I thought the beginning was the hardest part, and now that I restarted with the cane it's easy as shit. All of those mobs in the beginning, and the lanky dudes, just sit back and mash the whip button. The axe and pig? Just charge R2 then crit.

It's sooo much better than all the otjer weapons.

Just beat the blood-starved beast! This game is my first Souls game and I'm in love.

When's the next chance to get a good skill based weapon? So far I'm rocking the Cane with the RifleSpear as a second option. I heard about dual blades and would love those. How do I get them?

The game gets harder/mobs get buffs on their weapons and stuff like that. Apparently certain things don't drop unless you have enough insight though as well.

That's interesting I had no idea the enemies scaled to insight like that, I had seen the buffs on some enemies but I thought that was just related to the bosses I was defeating.

Is there some kind of set % it goes by or just milestones of insight maybe?

The bone has a arcane requirement to use. It is one of the "spell" items in the game that takes a number of bullets to do a unique effect.

So right after I kill the pig, I get jobbed by two muppet looking scrubs across the bridge. Please tell me there is a shortcut to there? I do not want to go the long way again.

It's basically a
spell. You need more arcane to use it.

First Souls game besides spending 30 minutes with Demon's and not getting back to it. Going slow and exploring everything I can, love the world and environment. Took out Cleric Beast on the second attempt. First time he was down to 30% and I got stuck in the environment. Father G went down the first attempt. Looking back, he almost killed me in phase 3. Now back to catching up on this thread and hopefully more progress tonight!

Just wanted to share this gif that happened last night. The animations and hit boxes are amazing.

Did you reach the elevator? If not you have to take the shortcut that's on the bridge with the two big dogs.

There's an elevator at a side of the bridge but if you didn't activate it then you're screwed and must do all the work again. Don't forget to activate the elevator! it's just at the side of the stairs of the bridge.

Grant us eyes, plant eyes on our brains

Haha, I'm still repeating "grant us eeeyyyees". Spent at least five minutes running around trying to figure out how to get past the iron gate when he was at 50% health.

10 bosses in now...the game keeps getting better and better.

I'd really love to focus on this new area I'm trying to get through, but instead I'm forced to warp to an old area to farm vials. I don't get how that's good design.

I am glad the guide is coming out soon for the next NG+.
I probably missed 3-4 corpses that I can't figure out how to get there.
And those questline and NPC branching path...yeah, probably missed 90% of them lol.

Overall, game is the perfect length for multiple playthroughts.
Probably better than all the Souls series, it feels so linear yet not at the same time.
The pacing is great when you know where to go in NG.

Any ideas on who Gascoigne's
father
is? Just playing through the beginning again and the girl says she loves me as much as her
graddad.
Feel like they wouldn't mention that if it wasn't signifiant, seems random haha.
