lol that roof-backstab-roof-backstab tactic worked perfectly, how cheap :)

Went to take a look at Amelia after.. she completely wrecked me

The load times are almost killing this game for me. For a game with as many deaths as a Souls game to have load times this long and additional load times to the hub is awful.

I'll grant you the bold but, really, playing at a properly methodical, "1v1 as often as possible" pace, you really shouldn't be dying more than once or twice an hour. Hell, once you get your chops your deaths should be decidedly rare.

Not "defending" the load times, but just saying if you're dying more than 2 or 3 times in rapid succession you need to switch up what you're doing anyway. I've had many runs of 30+ minutes already; waiting a 30-45 seconds to get back into another 30+ minute run isn't any kind of game-breaker.

Looking at stats, I found out why I was never troubled by poison in the BSB fight.

Top Hat has 3x the poison resistance as any other hat you probably have at that point.

So I've got a summons
it says to get the stagecoach from Hewick Crossing but where is that? I've cleared out Hemwick including the witch and I went back over the area and couldn't find it.

I spent a long time being aggravated at this area.
There is a stone altar near the end of the area, closer to Witche's Abode in the centre of the courtyard where the large executioners are patrolling.

GOOD GRIEF I'M SO DUMB. The pig elevator required me to actually get inside of it to activate it. -.- Anyway, continuing on with the march to the 2nd boss. Also, is there a certain number I should have in Endurance and Skill when using the Threaded Cane? I have like 5K Blood Echoes and want to start leveling up my character in earnest.

So I opened my first Chalice Dungeon last night after defeating the
Blood-starved Beast,
and I got as low as the third level. After beating the third boss, there was just a lantern in the room with seemingly no other way to go downward.

Is there an easy way to know for sure if you've cleared a Chalice Dungeon?

I'm at the same part as you. i think thats it for this Chalice but I got another Chalice with the same name but with different stats (lvl 2). Maybe that one goes deeper?

It's kind of funny how inverted the difficulty is from what you'd expect.

Giant monster with a huge sword? Easy.

Tiny little thing that shakes its head back and forth? Nightmare difficulty.

The lack of any kind of hit-stun or invul period makes it so anything that hits rapidly is wildly more powerful than big slow attacks.

lol over 100 pages already.

We'll be on OT3 tomorrow evening or Sunday morning. This is crazy.

1 hour to go before I can leave work..gah.

After about seven hours of playtime I've finally brought the cleric down with just my trusty two handed axe and dodge. Patience really is key in this game. Old man is next!

What enemies were you hgaving trouble with? Every I tried to visceral attack a regular enemy I've succeeded.
Death Dealers, guys with the bloody bags, in particular. I can stun them with the sneak up R2, but when I hit R1 for the visceral it just always does a regular attack.

Edit: Thanks for the tips on the crow hunter, everyone.

In your stat screen it will show you the requirements for each weapon in addition to telling you what they scale with.

Has anyone else had problems getting friends to join their game using a shared password? We tried for thirty minutes the other night to no avail.

- All in the same area
- I rang the Beckoning Bell
- They rang their mini bells
- Same password
- Local

Nothing.

Anybody use the Fire Gem to add fire to your weapon? Worth using? I added it to my Saw Spear +6 and it seems decent. Also, I added a few levels to Arcane and the damage jumped...

Yeah

Its likely why guns and transforming weapons are so important. I find myself morphing a lot and changing tactics depending on what I am fighting so that I can remain efficient.

Always have the MOST trouble with faster enemies for sure. Big guys go down like nothing with the heavy two handed weapons.

Try this

- Set Worldwide
- Use simple password (no caps or numbers.... i dunno if this changes anything but this was the only thing that changed outside of what time we tried to connect)
- Wait at least 60 seconds or more

Im not sure what the server issues are but late last night we were connecting like clockwork.

The
witch
village/area is by far my favourite location in a souls game ever

holy damn
Wait till you see some of the later areas. This game has some some fantastic areas. None of the ones I've done so far have been duds, I'm really impressed.

Seems like every armor (or at least most of it) has pros and cons in this game. So one piece might sacrifice phys defense for arcane defense and whatnot. I've definitely changed my armor for at least one fight. Never thought about it with BSB since it was so early on and I thought I'd just get poisoned in one hit anyways but I'm definitely gonna change around for future playthroughs.

On BSB right now. Doesn't seem too bad but I didn't come prepared with antitidores equipped which did me in.

Yeah, I had warning about the poison from a friend who was getting his ass handed to him by it ahead of time. Also, I'd
use firepaper, it's really weak to fire, also pack molotovs, when that guy gets low on health he spits out a field of poison around him that will make meleeing him unadvisable. I just so happened to use both during the fight on my first try and it worked well.

Gatling gun tower, sneaky round here....up the ladder..log he killed me within 5 seconds of climbing up

Don't stop when climbing up, run to him with a couple of dodges and shoot him down the tower (or hust mash a random attack as soon as you're near him)

Is staggering via guns always meant to work when you shoot the enemy as they are attacking ? Because it's not always working for me. Are there attacks that don't leave enemies open to being staggered ? I need more info on that mechanic.

Quoting myself. Can anyone offer advice ? I haven't fully understood how staggering works yet.

for a game as good as this, i could endure the load times twice long than this. seriously. I will just read neogaf when its loading.

I think always concentrating even if you are pissed off is required to be successful in Souls-games.

If you start rushing you'll make mistakes and die twice as much. In other words, the game punishes you for being mad at it.

Asked last night, ppl said they've tried also to no avail.

I cleared everything before Amelia. I will do that fight today. As for my next options:

- where can I get password for that closed door in Cathedral Ward?
- are the woods on the left of Amelia forgotten woods, or is there some other area? Where are forgotten woods?
- is there any other zone I can go [lvl35]? I don't want to go right from Amelia, those mofos are too badass for me for now.

Finally beat the third boss
Blood starved beast
after 7 attempts (3 solo, 4 w/ cooperators). Finally had a bad ass hunter with some crazy gear on help me. Our tactic consisted of me, a level 34 basic-ass hunter, running around as bait and drop rope molotovs, while the cooperator would do power attacks. As soon as the
beast goes into it's final, more poisonous form
we started hitting it with molotovs. Fuck you, hard-ass 3rd boss. Eat my axe and give me all your trinkets.

Heh, I did it solo without ever seeing how he fights. As far as I see it, Cleric and BSB drastically reduce numbers of their combat moves if player is just in front them and baiting them. Cleric can be easily kited for hours if you want.

Can someone explain what stats actually go up when you level up? Like in Destiny, you get a percentage advantage over enemies when you level up. Same case in this game?

Yeah the "seond" savepoint after the clinic take the right route so that you can pick enemey apart easier, wat weapon did you choose? if you have the axe, charged R2 against the big guys is a godsend :)
Yeah I got the axe! I will remember that!

You. Are. Going. To. Die...
Repeatedly and often!
Yeah.. I'm OK dying, but this part (the second save) is so fucking long and the enemies in the middle are not really strong, they just take forever to take down :(

Amelia down on second try! that wasnt too bad, just stuck to her with fast attacks and she aparently keeps getting injured and needs to recover

Second boss down with
Stake Driver
btw, even tho I said I was done with it lol

If using the Cane and Saw Spear mostly is it worth just pouring my stats into Skill only or going to a quality build and splitting them between STR and SKILL. Does arcane have any impact on the Cane?

Ok... are there any tricks for using the guns? I just can't seem to get it to stagger enemies consistently. Should the stagger work for all moves or is it only certain moves that it can be used on?

Sometimes I feel like I have it down and then I'll go a long stretch where I can't make it work at all. It's frustrating me a lot.

You also have to be within a certain level range of summoners as well (think it's +/- 15 or so). Sometimes the online acts a little spotty so that's probably it however. Yesterday morning I was getting summoned in one area consistently and I tried later on (same spot same settings) and no one summoned me and I never found anyone. I tried again in a different area later on and was more successful.

Boss fights are were it becomes an issue
Run out of materials
Got back to dream
Go to new area to farm a little
Go back to dream
Go back to boss area
Try again
