When you change armor, it will show either red or blue numbers. The blue numbers are it letting you know you are increases your stats in that area, red numbers mean it will lower that stat.

I believe the Yharnam Set is much, much better.
Yeah saw that. For just hunter set it looks like vs blunt, blood def, fire, and frenzy res all go up, but vs thrust, arcane, bolt, slow poison res, rapid poison res, and beast hood go down.

Really? That's pretty impressive that you haven't run out yet then haha. Do you go back to areas a lot? I got stuck after the Cathedral boss and I was so annoyed that I just started over rather than going back to kill giants a lot.

I've ran out a few times, but that's by far the least reason I ever die. Number one would be by dodging into a fucking lamppost or some shit. I did a lot of backtracking at the start for pots, but now I seem to get enough souls+pots from random enemies I can float.

No it's definitely an issue haha. Even if it wasn't a hassle (which it is for most players) it's nothing but a step back. You should start with a few automatically like estus. This accomplishs the same as estus (limited heals per life) but adds in a stupid farming component. That's not smart.

Yeah my problem is: if you're good at the game, you won't need all that many health packs so you'll be swimming in them.

If you're bad at the game, you'll need a lot of health packs, and you're basically penalized for being bad at the game.

It took me 5 tries to beat the 2nd boss, that means I burned about 50 packs just to that boss.

I just did the boss in the first layer of my Chalice Dungeon. They weren't kidding about good loot. I got a blood gem that increased my axe's damage output 33%.

I'd use it in my threaded cane, but apparently the cane is exclusively thrust damage type, which the gem didn't cover.

People talk about the story but I haven't really got anything out of it so far. Not that I'm not loving the game - maybe I'm just bad at reading into environmental clues.

Just feel like a guy running around killing stuff

Where are you at?

It certainly has taken an interesting turn where I am. But then again, I have more questions then answers so far.

So, I beat
BSB
and went back to Cathedral Ward. I went through the newly opened door and up the tower outside until I got to the locked door. I then went down the tower, dropped through the huge pit from scaffold to scaffold, made it down safely and out the door. Slaughtered the
KKK-looking MoFos
on patrol with great ease, and then made the mistake of trying to backstab the
bag man
without realizing what he was. Got captured and taken to prison-village. Escaped prison village. I guess my question now is should I continue exploring the area beneath the Cathedral Ward tower or should I save up the 10k souls to buy the key to open the other locked gate in Cathedral Ward?

Re-posting, super sonic thread.

It has been a long time since I didn't wake up with 20 blood vials. I seem to get them all the time.

If you watch my upcoming uploaded videos of me trying to best Amelia ( took like 10 tries ), you'll notice that each run through the area I get back all 20 vials as I kill the enemies.

Got so efficient at it I could mow through the entire shortcut section leading up to Amelia within 5 minutes lol.

So if I'm at the
Forbidden Woods
, how far in would those of you who finished it say I am?

Thats still within the first archstone lol. You got a ways to go. I'm there as well but have unlocked other stuff.

It is crazy how non-linear this game is. The level design is such that you can completely skip entire areas or miss something altogether or unlock something much earlier then others. Love it. Level design is phenomenal.

This is me. I am having great fun but fuck knows what's going on

I don't know if that's really an issue, especially with the second boss. You get about 7-9 vials just by getting to the second boss. The game makes them readily available for that boss fight.

It is funny how much peoples play styles change as soon as one or two others join their game to help.

I was helping last night with BSB and it was interesting to see people just flat out go balls to the wall because they have a buddy in there with them.

Oh, and heads up. If your going to invite people to do boss fights, have the materials you need available such as antidotes and blood vials, I can't help you defeat the boss if you die before he does.

Two attempts a
Martyr Logarius
(castle boss), each with 1 summon. Died with a tiny bit of his health left both times.

Grrr. It's hard to get a summon here as well.

You did all that leveling using the dup glitch?

Yea bro, I know this might take away some difficulty from the game but I have another non dupe leveled glitch character I plan to go through.

I grinded enough in Destiny, I don't want to grind in BB (besides when it comes to the special weapons from dungeons)

The big axe guys drop like 4 each and are super easy to kill. All of the other guys on the stairs are also super easy to kill with parties and can drop vials.

Yes and no. I'm pretty good at the game and I still had to go get healing items quite often due to running out or a boss battle. Though your right the folks that have a harder time will def feel a bit more penalized for it.

^yep same. I'm not new to these games at all (day one player), but I run out vials frequently cause I do co-op a lot. Plus in some areas enemies tend to not drop them so frequently.
So if I'm at the
Forbidden Woods
, how far in would those of you who finished it say I am?

Maybe 40% or so? Kinda hard to say honestly, there's quite a few optional areas you could do but two more bosses and you're about the halfway point I'd say

So... regarding the Red Jeweled Brooch...

Return it... or not?

I *think* you get the same item (not the same outcome) regardless but I'm not for sure. I do know this if you want to be spoiled

If you give it to her right away, she will die but you will get an item. If you wait and do something first for her THEN give her the item there will be a different outcome... I believe

Which gravestone / ritual? Seems enemy difficulty / blood echoes / loot varies depending on it?

Near the end of the game, has anyone figured out what the
giant void room in Mergo's Loft that appears after beating the first boss is for? I was thinking of geting a ton of Insight and seeing if that reveals anything...

This is actually a very good point. You are thrown in to the story rather abruptly and have no clue what is going on. Your interactions and progress affects the game and opens up small slivers of insight over what is actually happening.

I love this type of story telling in games, it is not for everyone and it really should not be in a lot of games but damn if it does not feel like being part of a HP Lovecraft story then I don't know what does.

It's actually worse than in previous Souls games (or at least DkS), I think because of the Lovecraft thing (Unravel Yharnem!)

The little notes scattered about are pretty much essential to understand wtf is going on and what you should do.

One of the reasons I bought Demon's Souls was because I heard it got harder the more you die. They kinda went away from that in the Dark Souls games and I'm glad to see a sniff of it return.

Turret guy done. Wasn't a satisfying fight - location is too tight so you can't move around too much, and you basically have to cheese him off the edge as he has tons of HP.

Backed off to bank my blood, will explore more later or over the weekend. Opened a shortcut down to he old yargh(?) streets so I can get down there quickly from the lantern under the church.

Bullets accidentally fired after putting the controller down

I've played hundrets of hours in demon's, dark souls 1 and dark souls 2 but I didn't activate my heavy attack by accident as often, as I did in 10 hours bloodborne.
fuck the DS4 triggers.

when I'm in the dream, I put both my weapons away and then I put my fingers below the triggers and press them up, so I don't punch the doll.

2.) lord knows! I actually have a recording of a 14 second load back to the Dream Refuge though!

warping into the dream goes super fast.

BSB slaughtered. Feels good. Only like 4 attempts. Still making the adjustment to the quickstep/parry portion of the combat but I guess I'm making some progress in that regard, defintely miss unlocked rolling iframes.

Yeah, I need to start that Lore and Legends of Bloodborne thread. I love this shit to death.

Yoshi is running around like a madman making the game look easy, and I am running around slow as hell taking screenshots everywhere trying to document the atmosphere of the game.

I beat him on try 5. Strategy:
Phase 1: hide behind a tower until he stops shooting projectiles. He will eventually slowly walk toward you. Get a few heavy hits in, and then run away once more. Recycle until phase 2.

Phase 2: Run away. This seems to trigger his leap attack. Learn to dodge and punish it. You can get 2-3 hits in safely.

I only got hit when I made a big mistake. He was actually pretty easy.

fight, hoo boy. I don't know what I expected.

Slightly disappointed so far, though. Only Cleric Beast took me 3 attempts so far - everyone else has been first time, or rematch.

Maybe it's because I've played all the Souls already.

Hmm... cannon give me like one blast and then I can't use it lol. Any way to upgrade a stat to make it require less QS bullets or something?

I'm liking where the world building is going, but I wish there was a little bit more of a direct story. In dark souls you at least have a very clear goal at all times.
ring the bells, ascend the fortress, venture through anor londo, get the Lord souls
. Towards the start of the game there's an npc that tells you to head to the cathedral, but after that, I've sorta just been wandering aimlessly and things are happening.

I killed the boss, got my 10 insight but for some reason the vendor isn't selling the bell. I will explore the
Tomb
first. I might find something to unlock it.

Make sure you're checking the insight vendor on the outside of the workshop and not the echoes one next to the doll.

Nope.
14 hours in. Only first two bosses down. Although I am taking my sweet ass time exploring everything. I also am farming and leveling up to make things a tad easier.

Imo thats the best way to play From action rpgs. And people need to start messing with chalice dungeons more, quit blasting through the game lol.

I'm noticing that the people that played through Dark Souls 2 have a lot fewer problems with multi-boss encounters.
