Questions about items around the Cathedral:

Is the wooden shield any good? Do tempering blood gemstones have any use? They only raise attack by .7%.

I fell through the world...

I watched you run around the Cathedral Ward like a chicken with your head cut off and then continually get rekt by the boss. Highly enjoyable stream, btw. Did you continue with that character? Your play style is entertaining to watch but MUCH faster than mine.
Haha, was that the first or second character? Sounds like the first, in that case, no I didn't continue with him :p Kirkhammer sucks against bosses.

Fuk this game is hard, made it to the Father, easily harder than Taurus Demon, Giant or Phalanx. Decided to take a break because I spent 3 hours exploring everywhere I can, got the Hunter Armor.

Going to laugh when my friend plays this because he's been always linking articles saying that the game will be easier.

I like the combat style being different but I miss the estus flask and the bullets not recharging at the "bonfire".

People hate this idea, but I think having lanterns before bosses would be a good idea. I don't mind the blood vials not recharging (reminds of the original DMC3), but I got sick of running back to Father G after the 20th time and just summoned someone to help me beat him. They could make the bosses a bit harder to compensate.

It's useless. You get staggered from everything. I think it was put in as a joke.

So at what point in game do you start finding upgrade materials that take your weapons to +4 and further? I'm sitting on like 60 blood shards and have all my weapons at +3 so I feel like I should be finding new materials soon.

BSB kicked my ass ,but I finally learned how to beat him and it clicked. One of the best poison uses in the series too.

This game is incredible..Just absolutely incredible.

I just read about the
Lunarium Key
bug.

I spent a good amount of time last night helping people kill the
Shadow boss
.

Guess I'm boned. Suppose I should just start over right now.

A lot of the zones have shortcuts where you can very very quickly reach the boss again, I haven't had a problem with any of them so far, and I think I'm almost done.

When I first heard about Bloodborne and I found out it was going to be Victorian or Steampunk or however you want to look at that, I wasn't sure about it.

But Yharnam is easily my favorite world of any of the Souls games.

Gothic horror and the souls mechanics are just two great tastes that taste great together. Like chocolate and peanut butter, they are!

I have a friend who I could never interest with the Souls games because of their (seemingly) generic medieval setting. There was kind of a sense that she'd fought dragons and undead with swords and sorcery a million times before, never mind the details of how it was different. But I got her to roll a new character for BB (who she designed to look like Bayonetta, lol) and she was completely immersed in the world.

I believe she actually said, "I've never played a game that feels anything like this." In terms of tone, setting, ect.

A brutal gothic horror RPG. Or a BGHRPG. New sub-genre. Coining it now.

Where can I find the black plaque clothes set and dual blades ?

Dual Blades will open up after Crow...

Best weapon in game, but man do they eat up stamina like mad.

Also people tend to dislike them because they do less damage. But there is something bad ass about looking like a ninja and swinging swords like a master musketeer.

I spent 20 try to beat I left him at 1% max great

that blond kirkhammer hunter Guy. Dont Know he gave me stuff I hit r2 by mistake and he doesn't wanna be friend ever again

This was hard. Harder than first two bosses I've killed yet. His gun was driving me crazy and he Rejen as well

I did it while equipping the shield to stop the gunshots will finish him tomorrow

Final question for now regarding NPC near entrance to Old Yarnham:

He gave me something called Prayer (I think). What is it and how do I use it?

So, I just learned there is an item dupe glitch you can use to duplicate any item that is stack able. 1,000,000 Blood echoes, 99 Molotov, etc... I want to experience the challenge, but with very limited playing time (3 year old, wife, 7 month old), I feel really tempted to use this glitch to give myself an advantage so I'm not playing the first level over and over and over without making any progress.

Right now I can get to sewers, but not sure where to go after you exit the sewers when you climb up a large ladder.

Might sound harsh but anybody doing a dupe glitch on their first play through at least is an idiot. These games only come around every few years so to lessen the experience by stacking the odds hugely in your favour is an utter waste.

Yeah, was the Kirkhammer and you came soooo close a few times, but to be honest the bad beats are sometimes more fun to watch in these games...

Unsure where to go to next.

Spoiler warning, long list.
List of bosses I've killed so far:

Outside of what you've killed, you can go
into the upper cathedral, which is the door in the Healing Church Workshop that you need a key for. other than that, you're basically ready to fight the last boss.

Haha, I know! I was damaging myself off-camera when I lost to that one particular boss fight :lol

NG+ note #2: Blood Vials cost 900 echoes when the game is fresh. If this "scales" like NG1, then they will cost approx. 1800 echoes each at the end of NG+.

Watched a friend fight the final boss last night. All I can say is
it's a boss worthy of being a final boss. Puts all the other final Souls bosses to shame.
.

That said, finally stumbled upon the
Upper Cathedral Key
, so now I'm up that that cut fighting werewolves and shit. Love how this game just keeps going!

Ah I totally forgot about
Upper Cathedral, I already had it opened. After that, how do I get to the last boss? And what about that huge fat blob thing that I dropped into the black hole in Mergo's Base?

NG+ note #3: Insight cost is still the same in the store.

Fat blob is dead now, so really nothing you can do with that. Final boss is in the Hunter's Dream. The doll says there's someone waiting for you, and there's an open gate that previously wasn't open.

Anyone else getting odd audio glitches in Old Yarnham? Seems to occur each time I enter an area that has fire. It sounds like the initial sound of the fire skips a few times before playing correctly.

So I went to the (mid game spoilers)
top of the windmill place after the Canon guy in the forbidden woods. Saw a guy eating bodies or something, so I attacked. I'm assuming he was an NPC because of his dialogue when he transformed. Did I just fuck something up?

It happened to me every time the gatling gun dude fired at me. Has to do with the frame pacing issue the game is suffering from I think.
