look around the area below (inferior floor) where you get sent once you're caught.. look at the walls.. be prepared. That boss gave me some problems. If your at a high level you should do fine. Lots of people on my Friend's List haven't fought it yet. You can take out the guys holding the bag if you knock them flat on their backs and lunge

Just had my first victim on PVP, she was playing against me as if i was an NPC, she was way too calm... and didn't have any blood vial left i think. Even so i could critical her a lot, and she didn't crit me even once... and when i realized she was scared to hit me and was rolling to much, i rampaged her with fast combos until she died, she even got hurt by the fire in the first level because panicked so much, i feel so dirty
Awesome. I feel that the people of Yharnam haven't really grasped the severity of what is happening in their town. I like when the guy says "This town is finished" when you kill him.
When you're sent to prison you'll be in a jail cell. Get out and head to the spiral staircases that are real wide. Go down to the next floor and you'll have two creatures right off the bat. Go to your left and you'll fight 2 guys holding bags and a bunch of prisoners on the ground. Take them out and look around. There's a hole in the wall. I was 45ish. That whole area to the right of the Grand Cathedral is basically for looks at the moment unless you want to get caught. I'm not talking about the forest. I'm talking about the one with the two enemies in the center circle next to the sea. You can get to the prison by one of the sack guys down there though. He's hiding around the corner. Just get killed by him.
Once you're there make sure to hit the lamp because you can go back there by teleporting, look for another site if you don't see it, but you have it.
I didn't know that the last boss was indeed... the last boss. Now I'm in NG+ and I just missed out on all the covenants, secret bosses and some weapons and armor...
Left over the first bridge, down the stairs on the right, down more stairs again on the right and when you enter that room there is a ladder leading down you cant see. Instead drop down the hole and pray you don't get hit.
It's risky as you may get hit with gunfire and get hit by the hunter roaming that area but it cuts off a good chunk for you.
I just need a straight up guide that tells me exactly what to do to play with friends.
Like, I started a chalice and my friend put the code in. We stood outside the front lantern with our bells but we never found each other. Does that work or was it for nothing? Is the only way to do coop with the makeshift altar?

Major spoiler for area just after Forbidden Woods:
is there another option other than to attack the thing that i am now in front of, that is not hostile but I can lock on to? I got so flustered I exited the game for now. Just don't want to attack if that's not the only option.
ok so it seems that there is no way to open the door in the pot room with the chest? It's at the end of one path coming from the Cathedral Ward. I'm sure a lot of people saw it.
Well, I think I've found a really great way to farm Blood Echoes. Here's a quick rundown, as well as what you'll need.
You'll need:
Lecture Building
unlocked and most doors open. Optionally, the
second floor
as well.
10x Bold Hunter's Mask
Moon
Rune (increases Echoes from killing enemies) [Optional]
Eye
Rune (increases item drop rate) [Optional]
What you'll receive (after 10 runs):
~150,000 Echoes, (or ~300,000 Echoes if you also clear the
second floor
). Note: this already assumes that you're buying 10x more Bold Hunter's Mask (which costs about 12,000 Echoes).
10 Twin Bloodstone Shards (if you clear the
second floor
)
99 Quicksilver Bullets
Some Sedatives
What you do: Note: before starting, I highly recommend selling all of your Quicksilver Bullets, otherwise you won't be able to pick up all of the ones that drop from enemies.
Start by spawning at the
first floor of the Lecture Building
. From there, head into the door directly to adjacent to the door you walk out of (head outside, turn right, walk a bit, turn right again). Inside this area should be a ton of
slimy students
. Kill all of them and pick up whatever they drop. Depending on what you have unlocked, you have a choice here:
1. If you have the
second floor
unlocked, go and
head up the ladder
. Kill the big guy guarding it for a Twin Bloodstone Shard, and then kill all of the
slimy students
up there to double the Echoes you got from the first floor enemies. Use your Bold Hunter's Mask to return to the starting lamp.
2. If you don't have the
second floor
unlocked, use your Bold Hunter's Mask to return to the starting lamp.
Whether or not you do the optional
second floor
is up to you. Overall the amount of Echoes you get are pretty close, and it works out to about 300,000 Echoes every 30ish minutes depending on how fast and powerful you are.
------------------------------
The main benefit of this is that it's fast, and very, very low-risk. One relatively quick loading screen per-run, as well as pretty easy enemies. I tried both approaches (only the
first floor
and the
first and second
) and time-wise it was pretty close to get to 300,000 Echoes. That's also fairly important, as you don't have to have the second floor unlocked to use this farming spot (so you can get to it relatively early if you rush to it).
equipped armor with the best mix of physical and bolt defense. Then targeted the head and just kept dodging in under him and then doing standard R1 attacks
Why doesn't the beckoning bell work anywhere in the cathedral area?

In Dark Souls 2 you had to have similar Soul Levels and you also increased your chances with the Engraved Ring. You might be too far apart with levels and echos? Are you guys too far apart in terms of your level? I'm reading here that you should be similar levels and that code you input should be the same for both players.
I had an instance where we had played together, but I couldn't see his Soap Stone because he had leveled beyond the calculator's range of co-op-ing together.

I'm in the witchy village, just went through a barn, and now there's this vista with distant castles. They appear to be suspended over a void, though. Am I on a floating island?
EDIT: Answering my own question -- that's not a void, it's dark water
