Bloodborne |OT2| Praise The Moon

I feel like this game encourages exploration a little more than previous Souls games - usually after a boss you have a new path to take that opens up to the next area. Four out of the first five bosses I've fought in this one have been dead ends, though, forcing me to go back to previous areas to figure out what I missed. I think I like it better.

I have a question... does the game get harder when you carry more insight?

I feel like I'm suddenly getting my ass kicked out of nowhere. There are hard enemies in places they weren't before... and the
other hunters
you fight are just destroying me. I had a bunch of blood echos from helping people in co-op, so I actually leveled up a bit. Felt maybe a bit over-leveled honestly for where I am. But I also have gained insight too.

And then smack. I am getting fucked up everywhere I go.

Is it because I hit an insight threshold, and the game was like... oh yo noooo u don't.

I have 5 Insight Items.

I do not have the summoning bell.

I have already combed the levels for more Insight items but none have appeared.

I don't want to use the Insight that I have because I want to start co-op, and I'm afraid of wasting them on summoning to fight this shitty 3rd boss.

Guys, how in the hell do I get more Insight in general? Dying at the boss, which has happened a lot, doesn't give me anything.

There are lots in the graveyard in cathedral ward with two big axe dudes. But I had 10 insight before I was anywhere near that and I don't think I used lots of items to get it, and the messenger bath near the rear entrance to the hunters dream opened and you can buy from there.

Yes, seems like it does. Starting at 15.

I'm guessing A
melia
is a dead end as well then?

I wake up to a text message this morning from a hardcore MS-fan that this game is boring, repetitive and (the kicker) has less content and things to do than Destiny.

If that isn't enough, he's going back to Battlefield: Hardline for his 60th hour.

Lol people.

Im at 52 and I have
VIT 30
END 25
STR 20
SKL 15

rest untouched. Guess Ill keep leveling the offensive stats

Yeah, thats what I thinking, even with the big L2/R2 attacks of the heavy weapons I have enought for a combo+an emergency evade. I never felt like I needed more for a while.

Yep boost dem Str/Skl stats, especially if you are using Ludwig's Blade and want a quality build.

The
Forbidden Forest
is by far the hardest area I've come across. Between the
random NPC I attacked that turned into a red eyed lightning beast
and then the
bundles of snakes and RE5 style head snake people
I got destroyed. Must have lost about 200k souls the amount i've died :P

Are there multiple paths I can take through the game or is it a bit more linear, at least in the beginning?
Reason i'm asking is that I keep getting myself killed in
Old Yarnhan
and was wondering if there was another path I could take to take my mind off of it a bit.
So far I've defeated
Cleric Beast and Father Gascoigne

Yes, seems like it does. Starting at 15.

Pretty sure this is BS.

Harder enemies show up in areas they weren't before depending on the phases of the moon (i.e. your story progression)

I've had north of 50 insight my entire playthrough and those were the only times I noticed different enemy placements.

How do I up vote or down vote other players messages in the world? I can't figure out what button I am supposed to press. The indicator looks like right arrow and left arrow but that doesn't do anything in my game...

Either the right or left side of the touchpad does it.

Really tempted by this, never played any of the souls games, but hearing this is a tad more easier for newcomers appeals to me. I love exploring and watching the giantbomb quick look it looks of tons of paths to take .

Hopefully the loading screen patch comes soon as that may push me over the edge :)

Wait until you hit 40 and you'll start seeing some weird shit.

Do the trash enemies and bosses actually get harder, or is it just enemy layout?

I feel like this
other hunter
I'm trying to fight is unbeatable. I got a proper backstab on the dude and it took like no health away. He is wrecking my shit and I've played probably a thousand hours of Souls. At least.

It's making me feel funny.

it's not. there are definitely some enemys which only show up a with a certain amount of insight, no matter what time it is.
for example some demon like creature gets summoned around hemwick.

I don't know if I should level up strength or skill because I don't know what weapon I will be using later in the game. Still using saw spear as of now...

I'm guessing A
melia

Yup! That was #4 and the W
itch
was #5. I have one area I know I can still explore -
the city where I got kidnapped to
but that area seems like it's a little tougher and I shouldn't be there yet. I'm probably just missing something obvious. But it's fun to go around and see everything and notice things I missed before.

I'm assuming most of the red lantern windows change their dialogue after certain points? I keep checkin them for shits and giggles after I got a (weapon spoiler)
flamethrower
from one.

EDIT: to clarify, the boss room itself is a dead end. There are branching paths from the area itself though.

I've been hoarding Madman's Knowledge. My insight is 13 now but I have 23 MK and 5 greater knowledge. Didn't realise it changed things. My hoard game is strong.

Well I can test this right now.

Brb.

Yep, using both Ludwig and Saw (depending on the enemies).
I'm also interested in the S
chtyte
but that's more of a SLK weapon.

Wait until you hit 40 and you'll start seeing some weird shit.

I saw a video of it. Holy shit!

Its not. At 15 insight the dudes guarding the Chatedral before fighting
Amelia
had some red aura on their weapons, and deal more damage.

Also, as necromanti said, weird shit appears with high Insight (unless the video I saw was bullshitting me).

Not sure if
hunters
are affected with Insight. They're just hard.

but its not easier for newcomers at all, who said that?

Oh wow, I never knew Insight altered enemy placement! I've been running around and using the "Madman's Knowledge" as soon as I get it. I'm sitting @ about 67 insight and noticed alot of my crows have been replace with those guys with bloody burlap sacks.

OK, unfortunately, I read about not joining in people's games in the Forbidden Woods because of the Lunarium glitch AFTER I already joined in. The weird part about it is that now I can't equip my sword. It looks equipped in the menu, but I have bare hands and punch the air when I hit R1.

Anyone?

This is literally the worst souls game for a newcomer. It actually baffles me how each souls game seems to have a worse tutorial(Well, Demon's had a crappy tutorial, but Dark 1 had a good one).

Can someone help me please. I have gained 1 insight from the madman's knowledge, and have not encountered any bosses yet, but when I go back to the hunters dream, I don't know how to level up? I thought when you got insight you could level up at the hunters dream!

Is the doll awake?

Press left or right on the D-Pad to select an equiped item.

Welll... that's what I noticed first. Decided to test it.

I just spent my insight to bring it back under 10, and the sack assholes are still there in those spots.

So.... idk.

easier might be the wrong word, but it's definitely more new-comer friendly, because so much stuff got streamlined.

I wouldn't put too much hope into the load-time patch though.

In terms of new-comer friendly, I think BB edges out DkS2, then it drops down a bit to DeS, then even further to DkS1.

There's less bullshit in the opening parts, some more conveniences, and fewer stats to contend with.

You have to encounter the first boss I believe.

I think I have gone thr wrong way and not sure what to do. I see the gatling guy but am nowhere near him. I saw a walkthrough where this guy killed him straight away.

Should I be killing him before even getting to the blood starved beast area?
