Lame question, but I've bet five bosses and am up to a sixth.
Killed, the Cleric Beast, FG, BSB, VA and the Witches.
Roughly how far in am I?

Okay, so I beat BSB and VA, and now I can either go left to the woods or right down the stairs past the two buildings from the VA fight? Where would it be recommended to go next?

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, CAN WE SAY

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKK

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Is there any reason why I should keep my 51 Shining Coins? Are Caryll Runes one time uses/permanent or can I switch them with better ones down the line? And who has upgraded their guns? I'm still rocking with an unupgraded Hunter's Pistol.

Wooo just took down my 6th boss D
arkbeast Paarl. I even forgot to equip Henryk's armor for the Lightning resistance.
This time my feet were sweating.

FINALLY bought Bloodborne! I can be in on all the fun now! :)

I'm gonna postpone my first play through of Dark Souls 1 until after I complete Bloodborne.

I'm at:

50 Vitality
40 Endurance
30 Strength
25 Skill
25 Bloodtinge
40 Arcane (fucking pointless, Arcane items are trash, don't do it).

Super wish I could put that Arcane exp into other stuff now! Will probably get my Strength, Skill, and Bloodtinge all to 50. Bloodtinge is actually decently useful for the Katana.
What does Bloodtinge do for the Katana?

Need help. I've already explored pretty far into the F
orest
, the N
ightmare
area, and killed the W
itches
.

What I can't find is O
ld
Y
harnam
area. I don't have the lamp or anything, and an hour of exploring last night got me nowhere. Where's the easiest lamp to start at to find out? There's a locked door inside the chapel with the crazy red lady that I think might be the key, but nope.

I want to fight T
urret
guy and BSB, dammit!

There's not reason to not keep them. You can switch them whenever. I upgrade my gun to +3, doesn't do much, especially compared to the gun built in on my weapon.

You can switch runes and gems freely. No reason not to upgrade the gun a bit, shards and twin shards aren't hard to come by

Old Yarnham
is up the right hand stairs from the
Oedon Chapel

If you find a tomb, you're on the right track

Shining coins are basically path markers. You may as well keep them because they sell for 4 souls. Runes are freely switchable, they're effectively this game's rings. Upgrading the pistol can make it do decent enough damage, helpful when you want to finish an enemy but also don't want to get in range of it.

Go left out the cathedral ward, walk down the stairs, and around that little chapel is a switch to move funeral pedestal thing inside.

Well the game explains fuck all on where to go. Like I don't mind mystery, but a lack of explanations of the mechanics and story are just plain lazy.

It's not lazy, it's deliberate. The lack of hand holding is great. Having to run around, explore, backtrack, maybe ask questions on forums, all of it is tied to the design and purposefully done. We don't need hand holding and giant arrows pointing our way. The basic mechanics of the games are given to you at the start, and from there you need to experiment and find it for yourself.

And so the cycle of frustration begins anew...

On the 3rd boss encounter... V
icar
A
melia

And my first impression is whether or not my weapons are under-cooked. My weapons seem to barely scratch it.

It doesn't help that I'm still not good at dealing with Cathedral Giants. Those things are annoying.

Because that is not the third boss. :)

Seek out the
Blood Starved Beast
down in
Old Yharnam.

Overall story question
so Bloodborne actually is a cthulhu mythos set in Victorian Londonish?
Too creepy.

Pretty much. It captures that kind of
driven mad by unspeakable and alien beyond comprehension horror
better than anything I have ever played.

Yup!

It's a little criptic yeah. You know you're supposed to go to he cathedral though right?
Yeah I'm before where the blood starved beast is. I get slaughtered by the hunter at the bottom of the tower and the gatling guy.

If I avoid them, I get slaughtered later on by a group of about 20 ppl at once.

I find this level is really shit for placing lanterns. I'll try tomorrow after I get about 5 more levels and some more Molotovs.

Ok what is the circle underneath your stamina and health meter?

stop assuming people that think the game is TOO obtuse want hand holding or giant arrows. there is a midterm, nobody is asking for COD corridors with point a to point B.

Also just the fact that you say that "going to forums and asking what to do" is a good thing is mind boggling, im sorry that is not good game design, and I love the series

Aaaaand NG+ done! (All bosses + optional bosses).

Managed to get plenty of items that I didn't get in NG.

Edit: got a gold trophy and 940k souls from the final one.

I guess the three locked doors and gates in C Ward means I need to go to Old Y but I don't want to. I like it here with the big guys who are easy to kill and no death from above.

I can't follow this thread at all. So what is the general consensus on Bloodborne compared to the earlier games, by those wh o have completed it?

Is every enemy parryable even with the basic gun? Makes me wonder if I should stop trying to do it on some of the giant beasts.

You can kind of cheese the guy at the bottom by standing near the gate (where the wooden stairs are up to his area). He will keep running down and do a leaping attack at you then run back up and repeat. Just continuously time your charged strong attack for when he makes his jump... easy. He wont even do more than a swipe when he lands in your space, must be scripted to get back to the motherland haha.

Wait wait I am supposed to unlock that
Gate in Cathedral Ward
before going to
Old Yharnam
?

Where is
BSB
?

Go to the second floor of the lecture building iirc, door at the end of it near the guy with big fire hands, brings you to another nightmare

The length of the loading screen is such a slap in the face. "Oh, you messed up, eh? Well now sit and think about what you've done!"
