Go upstairs and take out the spell casters first. After that I tried to keep running around and attack at his side.
I actually got so upset yesterday at my second attempt at him that I ended up going an doing other side stuff like Paarl just so I can maybe get enough power to rip this asshole spider a new one.

I totally missed that you could run upstairs and kill the casters! I just kept wailing at whatever end was "down" and the fireballs almost never touched me, just kept getting blocked by him luckily.
Haha yeah, it took me a few minutes to realize that.

Taking a break now but that fucker goes down today!
that hunter in the cathedral where you fought Amelia is harder than any boss I've encountered so far. He kills me in 2 hits, or 1 if he parrys me... Even his gun does insane damage. Got him to half HP a few times but then he just starts healing. At least my Ludwig holy blade+6 does decent dmg on him, but 1 miss-timed hit and I'm dead

You can cheese the fuck out of him. I had to do it because the only way I could do any damage was with visceral attacks and I ran out of ammo. Then he healed.
I think I figured out what I was doing wrong and hope to overcome that hurdle later on myself.

Use both dude! The quick select exists for this reason. Bust out the sword when you need more range.

How? I tried visceral attacks but they did terrible damage. It's way to risky and one combo of my sword does more damage...

I hope so. The designs for this game are phenomenal. Far, far better than even the Souls games.
Don't lock on. And before the first starts
run to the back of the room, there are stairs you can use to kill the flame throwing minions on the balconies.
After that, just never let go of the run button. Get behind him and slash once, then wait for him to attack, rinse and repeat. It's slow but it works and you'll never get hit by the projectiles if you're running.

Should I consume the cord now? Just found one.
Thoughts on the saw cleaver for relatively early in the game (only taken down two bosses)? I've done a lot of jumping in other peoples' games and rarely see it being used. I see that the axe can knock people on their butts and wish the cleaver had some cool effect like that.

Go up the stairs on the top left and right and take out the bell witches. Should make it easier without them shooting from above.

Just made it past the bonfire stuff, through the house, back to open that gate by the central checkpoint. Is this counting as a checkpoint again, or is opening the gate kind of a checkpoint? Can I go back to the hunter's dream and just come back and go through my new shortcut?

Go up the stairs to the next floor of cells. Watch out for two ladies with knives- one will sneak attack you. Find a hole in the wall past a room with the big sack guys standing by a table. Go out the hole and you'll be near the boss arena.

Does anyone know if I can ignore this guy for now untill I'm higher level? I don't want to fuck up the sidequest.

Gave myself 5 extra str to be able to use the cannon, now my PVE character is at 130.
Now I have a level 10 character with a build in mind that is sitting on 4.5 echoes (can reach level 130), this will depend on what the meta is. I might make 2 more characters and do the same just so I can have options instead of restarting a character all over.
I'm hoping for PVE there are other characters around 130 so we can do dungeons together. . if not I might make one of my level 10 mules level 50-60 and go through the story to do some co-op or something.
