So D
arkbeast paarl is fucking me up
Ive managed to get him down to just a sliver of his health before, but then died
before when he did some electrical charge up attack thing I could just keep hitting him and it would stagger him, but recently he just lets it off no matter what I do
am I doing something different?

i mean i don't mean to suggest that other people find it fine and not hard. i realise that a lot of what people enjoy about these games is overcoming the difficulty, however, despite the amount of time i've been playing and having beaten father g i can't honestly say that i really have much more of a clue about what's going on with the gameplay systems than when i started.

- monster attack patterns seem completely random. sometimes attacks will stagger them, sometimes they wont. sometimes attack chains go on for three or four attacks, sometimes they terminate after one or two. sometimes an attack sequence seems to randomly add an extra attack on the end, seemingly just to spite me for trying to anticipate it, dodge, and counter-attack.

- stunning monsters with my firearm seems to be a crapshoot (pun not intended). sometimes it succeeds and sometimes it doesn't, even though i try and time it with enemy attacks.

- i have the agility and spatial awareness of a blind goldfish. i constantly get caught on bits of scenery, dive out of the way of one monster into the attacks of another, dive into areas i get trapped in, mis-time dives, etc.

i'm just incapable of making any sense of this game. but since so many people love and enjoy it, and tell me that they 'see' things about the game that i can't understand, i can't conclude that it's the game's fault; hence, it must be a lack of skill, intelligence and dexterity on my behalf.

Just accept that it happens in these games. It is designed to kick your ass, and then after you get up, it will smile at you and proceed to squash you again, while also grinding you into a fine powder. And when it is not the enemy or the environment making a mockery of you, you will also make mistakes and fall, etc. That is the Souls experience in a nutshell, but the gratification comes from eventually overcoming after sometimes an insane amount of trying. In short, it is definitely not for everyone.

I completely ignored the
mini spiders, only rolling to avoid their jump attack. I never locked onto Rom, I just stayed by his side and slashed him and ran out when he started doing his missile attack.

Also, bring Bolt Paper if you have it. It wrecks him.

Thanks. Yeah I just said fuck it and ignored everyone. Was close but ended doing it ! :D

pulse is up the roof

are you kidding me? if I thought
Rom
was bullshit before, now you have to fight him in a challice dungeon in a confined room? :/

nevermind, just rekt it on my fourth attempt..it actually works out better because you can punish the
teleport before he materializes

So why I'm sitting here waiting for a guy to help me out at Cainhurst (being summoned is fine, but summoning hardly works for me) I got some small questions for my bloodbros.

1) Finally got some chunks to continue my upgrading of Ludwigs blade but it seem like it's only gonna raise the att powr by 1. Whats up with that?

2) Is there a second boss to cainhurst or just the one?

I got the Communion Caryll rune thats supposed to let me carry more vials...why is use greyed out...where do I use it...? also fuck platforming in a game like this,I hope this stupid section is the last one...

You have to go to the workshop and the furthest table back is where you're able to set your runes and stuff. I think you also have to beat the BSB to use it as well but I'm not too certain about that one. But yea, the game doesn't really explain the mechanics and features it should.

1) Did you misread the screen? Every upgrade for the Ludwig gives it +10 to base damage.

2) Just the one.

Yeah, so annoying when you get stuck under a boss and he does an AOE Attack..

Early game question GAF :(

I am at the Old Yarnham checkpoint and have just defeated a dude at the top of
a tower
weilding
some sort of turret
. The silly fool killed himself by falling, and I can't find his corpse. Or the loot is floating in mid-air.

If I can't get it, am I missing anything important?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I'm going in blind.

Any good tips to farm for Echoes? I'm planning to get Ludwig's Sword, and that needs 20k echoes.

Currently beaten 3rd boss (BSB), and have unlocked Cathedral Ward, Old Yharnam, etc.

I'm in the exact same situation as you except that I need even more echoes cause I need to level STR up a bit

Tips needed

Quit and reload game, loot will be at the top where he fell.

Finished my first session. It's hard as balls, died like 10 times already. Near the end of my session I just played it safe, headed to the dream and bought the entire armor set and got my saw up to +2.

Near the end there were a bunch of paths I could take, was a bit overwhelmed:
most obvious one was past 2 big beasts, but I also discovered 2 ways into sewers.

Haven't encountered a boss yet, should I descend further into the sewers or is that better left for later?

I definitely miss my shield, but I'm getting the hang of the blunderbuss.

If you go to the menu and quit the game and reload your save the loot will be there.

FYI: the game is made for you to just quit and then reload the save and start right back where you left off without respawning enemies.

I'm going 50/50 in Str/Skill because fuck it, why not?

No reason not to. The whole "25 softcap" thing is misleading. 26-50 still gives you a pretty significant bonus per level and is absolutely worth getting. It's only a slight step down. The big softcap is post 50, but even post 50 you still get increases, just very tiny ones.

1. Is there any point in following Viola quest line or should I just use the Red Jeweled Brooch?

2. What is that crazy laugh near the first troll that slams door at the begining of the game. Is there something that should be done there?

Completely stuck on Amelia and bsb. I use a shit load of consumables then it takes me ages to farm it all back. Then I die again. I think even with extra leveling I probably won't beat them. While I finished all 3 previous souls games, this one is just too difficult and the farming for vials rather than estus flasks really is a step backwards imo.

Yeah, I went to 50 Skill already and I was still getting three and four point increases on my Holy Blade.

What level are you?

Is item cost tied to insight? I haven't leveled up in hours but everything has doubled in price. Insight is sitting at 50

Farming Cathedral Ward gives me like 4000-6000 Blood Echoes ( depending on if you beat the
Church Giant
and the other
huge chain ball guy
.)

Well, for Amelia, you really shouldn't need to farm for vials. If you take the front exit out of the Cathedral Wards and take the stair case to the boss, you should be getting around 7-9 vials while getting to the boss.

So is there a level difference on summoning vs being summoned?

I'm being summoned like clockwork outside of cainhurts boss but summoning someone is a no go. Getting tired of seeing everyone else be all victorious. Guy seems so much more doable with just an extra hand.

Thanks. I might have misread it. I'll have to check again.
