Maybe I have the names of my areas mixed up.
The lecture hall area that you awaken when you are picked up by the spider phantom. There are a few gooey ghoul like monsters dressed as lecturers, but it seems that there is an area on the second floor. When you exit the area you are transported to the nightmare frontier.

Yeah most of them take a few tries, but nothing too bad yet. I'd rather hit hard and not get hit than be a punching bag.

err I just focused on the fire guy because the others are so slow they never catch you. you run around the room conga-line style and you poke the fire guy from time to time, then back to running around the room with the other 2 after you until they are far enough that you can go poke the fire guy again

I 1 shot him and thought it was one of the easiest bosses in the game until then (and still)

Yup, forgot about the teleporting to HD and then back again. Don't mind having to go there to change runes and level up, repair ETC. Feels nice to have that "Base" where your character is in charge and becomes more powerful.

But no warping from lamp to lamp is laughable.

No idea on the multiplayer, never done any Souls multiplayer before.

so weird, I spanwed on the other floor O_o I had to take the ladder down to reach where you are talking about and go to
nightmare frontier
. the floor I spawned in took me to
nightmare of mensis
(or whatever its called), the actual place you need to go,
frontier
is super optional
 
guys how big are the
castle with a weird name
, and the
upper cathedral something
... the 2 end game optional zones basically :P
 
Man that second boss fight was ace - heart still racing. Finished with molotov to the face. So good.

Rocking the kirkhammer with the cane for crowd control.

Wot? Hunter's gear has like 3x resist as the church set. Unless they don't aggro you if you're wearing the church set?

Pretty sure you two arrived at the places you're speaking of either through different means or the same means with different bosses killed.

Am I supposed to know what the fuck is going on in the lore by
Rom/Byrgenworth
cause ive read all the item descriptions etc. leading up to here and it feels like everything just took a complete left turn.

If you haven't killed boss 3 that's your best bet.

If you killed him buy the emblem that opens the gate next to the giant axe enemy located to the left of the catedral lamp (in the area where you see 2 masked guys)

What the what??? Very weird, so I don't need to access the
nightmare frontier
to progress the game? Is there just an optional boss in the area?

I feel like I am now only progressing in two optional areas
nightmare frontier and the hidden town

Almost all went down on the first try, a few took two, and two took four. If you pump vit, you won't die to bosses at unless you go in with few potions or really forget something important.

And the Tonitrus. Oh God, Drake Sword 2.0 for bosses.
 
Cant seem to figure out where to go next, I've been exploring all around the last hour but can't find anything new. I've beaten:

Cleric beast
Father G
Shadow of yhanam
vicar amelia
amygdala
bloodstarved beast
hemwick witch

Any ideas?

in your case, some room will have a ladder going up then :P pretty sure the ladder went down to a small room so check every room. I guess its easier to see the other way around since its a hole on the ground, hard to miss.

and yeah frontier is compeltely optional, lots of upgrade mats there tho. I was also WRECKING shit at my lvl and my +9 ludwig, it was...ridiculously satisfying

usually in rpgs and whatnot, you get bored when you overlvl, but in the souls games it feels so...fucking...good. Its basically payback time all for all you bitches >_<

Blood vials? I just go back to central yharnam, go straight from the lamp, into the house, up the stairs, and kill everything along the way. The beasts alone drop 3 vials each and the giant usually drops 2.
