It seems like sometimes when you've used the Beckoning Bell and nobody joins, you can go back to a lamppost and touch it, and that will reset the search. Anyone else experience this?

Definitely not the hardest, lol.

Probably the easiest, maybe a little harder than Dark Souls 2 (solo).

I'm definitely finding it the hardest. Granted I've spent more time in chalice dungeons than the 'actual' game but the early bosses alone are far more difficult than anything in the other games. Many of the bosses are just endless flailing super-fast gigantic arm hitboxes. I only died 4 times to bosses in my entire demon's souls run, and never felt bosses were unfair in dark souls 1 and 2 (except bed of chaos and ancient dragon).

All the bosses that don't fall under that spaz-beast archetype have been very easy though.
Shadows, fire dog, Rom
and a few random chalice bosses were all very simple.

Also I feel like they intentionally gave the enemies a big hidden chunk of 'magic pixel' health. So many times I've died thinking something just needed one more hit, but then 3-4 hits and it's still swinging.

Okay...finally found the moment I've actually been frustrated in this game...mother fuckin'
chalice Rom! Didn't have a single damn issue with the normal Rom, but this one can fuck right off!
.

Edit: Bitch is dead!

Without spoiling anything, does this game have items/weapons/armors that are only available in NG+ (and beyond?)

I like the idea that things take multiple playthroughs to acquire, so is Bloodborne like that? I recall some things in Dark Souls 1 and 2 needing being available only in new game+.

Yes, there is ng+ loot.

Seriously, fuck the guys that shoot arrows and Frenzy you. Especially when they're like 2 miles away up on a castle. That shit is seriously unfun.

Just managed to get
Shadows of Yarnham
in one. :)

Really glad I did too, because wandering around trying to find that area again would have been a major pain in the ass. I know in the forest there's a shortcut that leads to
the opening area of the game
but I didn't seem to find it. Anyone want to give me some clues as to where it is?

No, you can get every single item in your first playthrough. NG+ adds literally nothing.

There's a single weapon you might only get in NG+ depending on how you do the ending:
The Normal final boss drops a badge that lets you buy the Burial Blade (Scythe) from the Vendor for 60k echoes. Normally you'd have to start NG+ to buy it. However, if you go for the True End and trigger the extra boss you can wipe on the "True" boss and go back to the vendor and buy the weapon right there.

Oh
story bosses
can pop up in chalice dungeons? Neat

Hot diggity damn, thanks that's good news!

Hmm.. that's unfortunate :(

Just tried that but it wouldn't let me touch the lamppost at first but now it will let me? Weird. Hope it works though, waiting for Rom is a pain and a half.

Returning home from LAN... hoping that the download is done. Who am I kidding, huh?

it's way easier..at first I thought the smaller arena would make it hell, but you can just punish the hell out of his teleports.

There's no guys shooting arrows, it's the light from the castle, you can hide behind rocks. Notice all the windows light up when you are in the open. It also kills enemies lol

Yeah, it is unfortunate. Every single loot spot is the exact same too, giving you all the same crappy low level +Echoes items and low level Blood Gems that you will never, ever use. +300 echo items aren't even worth using from the menu when your levels start taking 200k+ per.

Exactly my experience. It's really weird and inconsistent. But my friend and I were playing side-by-side and we couldn't co-op until the moment we touched that lamppost.

Oh my god.

Chalice Dungeon spoiler

You have to fight Amagdala again with half of your health bar cut. Fucking hard as shit, but I beat that sucker.

Mechanically abhorrent (nobody likes
respawning enemies
, might aswell have put a escort mission in there while you're at it), you end up just running and juking your way through the zone which is not what you come to Souls games for, bad layout compared to the rest of the game's amazing level design in general, they do nothing with the
giant spiders
in the end (well I guess there's the one that
shoots the laser
), frustrating enemies later in the zone, just a big mess overall. Not since the anor londo archers have I felt not rage, not frustration, just a feeling of "I'm not liking this game anymore". When you are not even raging at dying in a Souls game, when you just don't care anymore, the game lost you :)

Thankfully the next zones are awesome, but man was I bummed out at that zone earlier today. Not angry, just bummed / sad

Good to know, and thanks for the detail!

I just realized...(late game spoilers) that...
wasn't a spider on the church in the trailer, was it? It was this fucking Cthulu thing.

uh

regarding the true ending

you can consume the umbilical chords at any point right?

I've been eating them as soon as I got them individually :/

hope I don't miss out

So after trying to kill the
Blood starved beast
for an hour and a half, I'm worse off than where I started. I've got to farm for vials antidotes again, I have only 5 molotovs left, and I used up most of my pungent blood coctails.

What the fuck an I supposed to do now. His last stage I have no chance against. The pungent blood coctails seem to just make him go crazy and slash everywhere...

Stay close, dodge to his left and then attack. Such an easy boss after I figured out this pattern. No need for molotovs or cocktails. I only needed to use an antidote and oil once.

Finished NG+ with the true endi. Such a weird ending.

Now to work on getting the weapons i missed, and see how the chalice dungeons work, because i still have no idea.

So you're sure it's not the guys that sing when you get up close to them? Because I wasn't getting hit with arrows as long as those guys didn't have line-of-sight with me (when I was right up next to them).

These guys

Huh. Maybe the game stops you from using the lamppost when it tries to connect to another game? And maybe once the connection 'fails' it resets and allows you to then use it? Who knows.

Chalice divers:

Where's the best place to get ritual Blood (4)? I've unlocked new chalices but they are jsut roots/sinister/curse... not really sure the plan, but if i get more (4) i can do new stuff

I thought you had to have them in your
inventory.

Consuming them just gives you insight according to the description but I don't know for sure whether you need to consume them or not.

He has different stages?
Killed him first try.
Didn't use an antidote either.

Funny how different bosses can be for people.

Wow, had some extra blood shards so I leveled up Tonitrus and boy is that thing fun to play with. Much faster than I thought! Doesn't have massive reach but it hits fast and hard. Love it!
