whoa I beat the bsb on my first attempt. Took 3 attempts each on cleric and father, so I don't guess I'm doing too bad for a noob. Not sure where to go next, and I haven't seen the crow lady yet even though I've gone to the graveyard and cathedral. I think maybe I have to engage the next boss before she shows up. Found a door that requires a password, but don't have it, either.

Straight from Cathedral Ward lamp and up the stairs past that shortcut gate there's an item teasing me on a ledge -- how the hell do you get that one?

You need to drop down the pit from the Healing Church (area opens up after you kill Vicar iirc), door to the right of Cath Ward Lamp, and then drop to the bottom into that area. Don't get killed by the sack guys if its your first time facing them otherwise you'll get ported to another area - there's an elevator somewhere there that'll take you to that item.

Beasthood info, spoilered
you need a beast claw offhand weapon from a chalice dungeon chest. Transforms one arm into a giant furry claw to do big damage but lowers your defense when in beast mode. Unknown if further transformative equipment is hidden deeper in the game.
Kinda hard to believe that it's in there if the community hasn't found it by now. I know we're talking about the same people that out 2 zones behind a double illusionary wall but it sounds like something that would take a lot of work so they wouldn't make it that well hidden

Take the elevator to the directly to the right of the Cathedral Ward latern. Cross the bridge then instead of heading inside the tower and up, go around the right side and drop down. Once back inside, carefully drop down until you reach the bottom, go through the alleys, and take the elevator at the end.

Need to take the elevator in the ward (after beating BSB). In that area you find a passage that leads you to that. It's a way to open that door without buying the key

Do you guys think this game will have the kind of legs Dark Souls had?

For example, do you think people who are playing it now will still do so in a year?

Keep in mind that a short-lived game can still be absolutely fantastic.

Why do we need sleep? I'm about the get off a graveyard shift, all I want to do I go do the last 2 secret zones, I'm so hyped for the. But noooooooooooo stupid body wants to get home and insta crash on the bed >_>

Fuck I'm sleepy

What level are you? I took him down first try at 40. Also, wear armor with good Bolt defense. I think
Henryck's
set is what I wore.

Don't think I have that set but I'll try and find something with bolt resistance. Still wearing the first hunter armor from the sewer

And lvl 49 btw so that shouldn't be an issue

all you have to do is kill the darkbeast paarl, and head to him, but he can't see you coming so warp to the other lantern that's near him. he'll ask you if you will hunt or spare the beast in the area, pick spare and he'll give you his badge and i guess stop being a hunter.

Made decent progress today. Almost 20 hours in now. Finally decided to get Ludwigs earlier. That was a good decision. More damage than the axe but I do miss the epic range the axe has. Now to get through this unseen village crap next.

I think so. Quite a few different builds to do playthroughs with (though not as much as Dark Souls), and I can see Waste of Skin runs being popular.

So I'm at the last boss and
the real last boss
. Almost at 50 hours if I remember correctly. Killed all
great ones and every other boss
that we know of. In round level 80. It was a great game. Can't wait for BB2

ain't no joke!

Some pretty crazy moves he's got up his sleeves.

God dammit - and I saw only three of them. His initial projectile, and his two close quarters swings. Never deviated from those. I parried him to death. Nearly knocked him off the roof at one point.

Such an easy boss fight and I'm started to think that my bosses have all had the AI repeating routine glitch since the last few.

I'd love a dedicated lore thread. This game probably has the most intriguing story of any of the Souls games for me so far.
Awesome. As long as it sounds like a good idea to a couple of you, I'm all for making and managing it. I can set it up tonight as just a barebones preliminary thing and then work from there as the thread develops.

The only question is whether or not I should make it in the community section or the main section.

Edit: Shit, someone just made an unmarked spoiler thread. That might makemy thread a little redundant.

I feel there are probably more builds than it appears at first once people begin experimenting with arcane focus and the variety of arcane items deep in the game. The chalice dungeon system is pretty nice and I feel it could give the game legs. But I also think the multiplayer connectivity will have to be adjusted or overhauled.

The game feels a touch light on content by Souls standards, with few NPCs, few covenants, etc. It doesn't make it a bad game, but in its current state it might not encourage the same long-term community the earlier games have.

Lots of bosses are optional, and even "main bosses" can be skipped and you can still finish the game if you go to
Fordidden Woods
at the start of the game. I think the current Any% speedrun uses that route.

To each it's own, but I don't understand skipping zones or bosses in souls games. That's the main appeal of the series (the zones and the bosses), it's not like you're playing them for the rich narrative and cut scenes

Yes yes I know the lore is actually quite deep on the game's when you look it up

Ya you missed a lot.

I would rather do chalice dungeons than go to ng+ tbh, and I probably will :)

Just beat my 3rd boss. The one that
poisons you.
The only thing that made it difficult was the lack of healing items. I had like 2 or 3 when I beat it, and I did not feel like grinding for more.

Man Chalice Dungeons get pretty fucking crazy at Depth 5 even for NG+ characters.

Seems like it's tuned for co-op play because some mobs have crazy HP and the bosses too. Not to mention that a lot of big moves can one shot you.

How do I access the door that's to the right of the Cathedral Ward in the chapel-safe zone? The one where you can bring people to since it's safe? I'm on NG+ and forgot how to unlock the door that leads to the elevator.
