Also, the fact that they removed the fog doors for the first time you take on bosses is EVIL, but I fucking LOVE IT. You'll never know when you're just walking into a big room or if there's actually a boss in there. Its so awesome.
I've been kind of trying to avoid most of the hidden/optional areas up to this point (currently level 29, defeated
CB, Father G, BSB, Amelia, Witch of Hemwick
. I'm exploring the ever exciting F.W. and kind of wanted to take a brief break to try out some other stuff, idk though. I found a bag boy and avoided him like the plague because
that abduction shit is some of the craziest shit I've heard of in a game
but it seems like plenty of people have done it in the name of exploration... Should I mess with some of that stuff or should I wait until I at least clear F.W.?
The areas I know I can access are
wherever the giant invisible hand near the Grand Cathedral will take me with the fancy stone, the cave that leads to Iosefka, and wherever the fuck bag bro in the Forbidden Woods will take me
You can actually fight Father G in a relatively (well, "relatively" in Bloodborne still means you can get royally fucked up if you make a mistake, hahaha) safe way, at least in his human form, by circling him around some collection of tombstones and use wide arc charging attack to damage him. The Axe's R2 charge attack is perfect for this.
Now, as for me, I suppose the best way to fight BsB is actually to *get close*? His pouncing attack from afar is excruciatingly deadly, but I am not confident to actually stand close to him, especially during his poison everything time... urghhhh....

Umm I think I found an echoes glitch. I'm new to souls games so correct me if this is normal: If you sell quicksilver bullets in the hunters dream then exit game and re-enter the game, you will have both the bullets replenished and the echoes you sold them for... Intentional?
So far it occurs if I sell 10 bullets, I haven't tried more yet. Of course you would have to sit through lots of loading screens to accrue plenty.

BSB was interesting. Took a bunch of goes, but I found he kinda of flips the script when he enrages and what works the first half of the fight will get you killed the second. The 1st half is best to bait out his leaping attack and dodging STRAIGHT back where you should end up in range for a pretty safe 2 hits and dodge back out. 2nd half, dodging straight back will get you killed quick because of his added range and overall aggro. So best to do the opposite, and dodge in behind him when he goes to strike. With luck he'll go crazy and throw his 4 -5 hit combo while you're behind him smacking him. Can usually get 2 or 3 safe hits. As for the last phase
poison
resist gear works well. The time I beat him he hit me once and I didn't even get inflicted. Also keep antidotes on hand in case you do
I would steer clear of official guides. Something that I learned about the soul games the hard way was that they update the "rules" alot through the lifetime of one title. At least in terms of weapon damage calculation and bosses.
Official guides become useless after a few patches imo. Just wiki it.
I just got in his face and shot him in the face when he'd swipe. If I saw a pounce coming I'd just dodge. When he went poison mode I'd run like a little bitch. Flamethower and moltovs worked nice on the poison part
I am gonna try getting up close and personal with him. I am 18/18/18 Vitality/Endurance/Strength with Axe+3 as my main and Pistol+3 at my off-hand... it should be enough to deal with him........ urggghhhhhhhh hopefully I don't need to fight him for like one hundred times....
People always put warning notes beforehand though. I bailed the fuck out the first time outside the VA's door because there's a "Strong Foe Ahead" note in front of it and I am carrying lots of Echoes I don't want to lose, lol.
Like all FROM games it has its flaws. However, all those flaws appear completly insignificant when compared to how well this game pulls off what it tries to do.
FROMs A-Team doesn't even have competition when it comes to world building - thats how good they are. Combat is sublime in BB and encounter design is absolutly fantastic. Art direction and atmosphere are stronger than ever. There truly is a lot to like about this game.

Also, if you didn't know, he can be parried with the pistol. When he does his bunch of small swipes into the large wind up, if you shoot him during the wind up you can actually hit him with a visceral attack.
You need to have at least 1 insight for the Doll in the dream to wake up. She's the one doing your level-up.
Get it by meeting up with Cleric Beast seems to be the most straight-forward way. Although there's also a Madman-thingie that you can ingest located somewhere not too far from it (IIRC) around to get Insight.

I know he can be parried; in fact I managed to parry him once or twice... by luck though, ahahaha.
Interesting to note, it seems you can also get bosses into a a visceral-able state by throwing molotovs at them. Well, at least it worked during my fight with VA, although she still kicked my arse in the end, hahaha.
Where those 2 giant dudes are stomping around in the graveyard, all the way at the bottom of the steps from Amelia. Theres a path to the right if you're coming down the steps. Go through there and should be obvious.
Oh and have fun in the next area!
As for the whats down the other path? You'll end up there soon enough.....

Well with VA attacking her legs enough will bring her down for a visceral attack so I don't know if molotovs work on all bosses, but she is weak to fire so it could make sense
There's one thing that I'm specifically disappointed about my favorite bosses (which I will list now):
Father Gascoigne
Gherman, the First Hunter
Martyr Logarius
Pretty much every single melee attack is parryable. Which, while it is skill-intensive, makes the fights really unexciting and just sort of boring when you get that down.
They are incredibly fun fights and they are so because of how the bosses space you out or their mobility (usually a combo of both). That's what made the best fights in Demon's Souls the best fights. But being able to parry your way through the fight is why Gwyn ended up being sort of... not great in hindsight. He becomes pitifully easy because of how easy it is to parry and generally that is the case with Bloodborne, too.
I would have hoped they'd fix that kind of mistake and only make certain moves parryable.
There's a fountain in the Hunter's Dream if you go inside and out the left door that lets you buy stuff with insight. I just bought a bunch of stuff I probably won't need to drop it.
I think it is kinda unfair to just talk about the big boss fights in this game when some of the real stars are the Hunter fights. There is so much good to be said about how real these fights feel. Some of them act in ways they might as well be other human controlled Hunters.

I also hit a brick wall with RtVS for a good period, the meteor attack is pure bullshit because the attack's movement is erratic as fuck. It believe it tracks you for abit once you hear that bell sound, tho I cannot tell you when the tracking ends for you to dodge appropriately.
Here's my tip for how I beat him, don't even let the fucker use it. Of course, you go close and the mooks become the real problem, so clear the mooks carefully near him while avoiding the AOE attacks (which are highly telegraphed). If you're having problems, use strong, AOE swings if you have heavy weapon, and go for one or two hits, and don't lock on so that you can constantly monitor the big guy. If you get hit, get clear and heal. Once they're clear, wail on him; he's easy alone. Rinse and repeat; he'll only call on the mooks a total of 3 times in the fight.
