Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin announced for PS4/XBO/PC - April 2015

I will pick this up since I never beat it. I could tell that this game wasn't by the same group when I played it. After playing Bloodborne I can really tell. I will have some friends to play with this time so hopefully I can make it through.

Bought digitally (this will be my triple dip of this game).

Anemic Bloodborne and Bloodborne with Shields are pretty good titles.

Might have been said before but I suggest

Dark Souls 2: SotfS |OT| Gone in 60 frames
I'd prefer a title that respect the game and doesn't continue the bloodborne/miyazaky wankfest in yet another thread.

Prepare to Rebuy Edition is too good I think

or OT | Community split like DarkLurker

Don't worry about this listwars stuff about which is the better game in the series. Dark Souls 2 does enough to stand on it's own feet and has the best implementation of coop and covenants.

Prepare to Rebuy Edition and even Bloodborne with shields are good names for the OT. Please, if you're salty for some reason with this game refrain of suggesting a salty name for the OT.

I'm playing Bloodborne right now and I love it so far but it ain't Dark Souls so I'm going to buy this again (I was planning to do so anyway). I haven't decided yet if I'll buy it for XB1 or PS4, maybe for XB1 since I already bought BB.

Yup. Build variety, covenants, and multiplayer in general stand out a lot more in the wake of BB.

Already own the base game on Steam but I'll be double dipping for PS4. The hardest part will be taking a step back visually since playing Bloodborne but that won't stop me from playing the hell out of it.

Bought the game at retail. I felt like I had to support FROM.

I hope the PC is going to be a good stream of revenue for them.

Yea. let's make an OT title that needlessly shits on a good game.

I wasn't intending to shit on it, I was just making a joke :lol, I have friends that are Dark Souls 2.
Dark Souls 2 is my favourite out of it and the first, true story

How about |OT| I got Soul but I'm not a Hunter

Count me in the really excited camp for this. I never played any of the DLC despite hearing outstanding things about it and I personally consider Dark Souls 2 to be a very underappreciated title in the series. Bloodborne certainly has the hype right now, but Dark Souls 2 does several things a lot better and playing it back to back with Bloodborne I think would be a very interesting experience.

Is this game with all the tweaks, etc... worth buying?

I adore Demon's Souls and played a bit of Dark Souls on the PC

Also do I need to play DS1 to understand/appreciate DS2?

You need to play Dark Souls 1 just for how good it is. Dark Souls 2 is set in the same world as the first but the stories aren't really connected.

And the game without the tweaks is worth buying, but as far as I understand all the changes they've made are for the better, plus it includes the fantastic DLC as well. Well worth your time.

I absolutely loved Infinite, and could not see the criticisms some had of it. Levine is still my favorite person in the gaming industry.

I wasn't gaming much during the System Shock era, so I couldn't know how good System Shock was.

System Shock 2 is the survival horror & cyberpunk GOAT. Imagine Deus Ex + Event Horizon. I literally had to force myself to finish Bioshock: Infinite. The step down that Levine took from SS2 to Bio:Infinite in terms of gameplay/pacing/everything is of Grand Canyon-esque proportions.

Sold.... I'll probably pick up a greatest hits copy of DS1 for PS3 and then play DS2 on PS4 when the price drops.

These thread titles shitting on the game aren't funny in the slightest. It might be the weakest of the Souls games but it's still better than 90% of the games out there so let's treat it as such.

Wow, just saw that this is being released tomorrow... Too soon :( BB is my priority for at least another week.

my man right here. *BROFIST* dark souls 2 is amazing.

It's the 1st on PC in general, 2nd in EU consoles, and 7th for US consoles, officially. But it appears like a lot of places are shipping it early.

Just get DS1 that whole version, what's called?

You mean Prepare to Die Edition? That was only released as a retail disc in Europe and Japan iirc.

Edit: That stream..Majula looks pretty good, I assume they added some sort of post process colour grading? Guessing that's how they managed to make the darker areas dark again too. Game looks much bleaker, which is a nice change tbh, more in line with the first game

This game is so underappreciated.

You'll always have me, Dark Souls 2!

I'm excited for it, I think Dark Souls 2 is looked at fondly overall. It had a few changes from Dark Souls 1 that I wasn't crazy about initially, but all these tweaks and changes in this version have me really excited that this is the final and best iteration of an already great game.

A few them actually made me chuckle. They aren't good ideas for an OT title, but they are funny.

Also you can have fun with the title. Maybe not poke fun at the game too much, but look at the Xenoverse OT.

correct :)

I've since put Bloodborne on hold due to a plethora of performance issues. I'll definitely be giving this game a shot next week while I wait for a BB patch. Happy to hear that it sticks to 60fps more often than not.

So I really wasn't into Demon Souls and bought Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition on a steam sale but made it about 90 minutes in and put it down. I have absolutely been loving Bloodborne. Should I give this another shot now since it's revamped and I found my calling in Bloodborne?

Is the PC version not out anywhere? I can't believe we've still seen nothing of it. Though I'm sure it's safe to assume it just looks like the PS4 version.

Absolutely, every game in the Souls series is just as good as Bloodborne (some would even say better). All that ever changes are people's reaction and commitment to learning the mechanics, so if you've found your taste for Bloodborne, it'll transfer readily to the others in my opinion.
