She's the old lady behind a door in Central Yharnam who doesn't trust hunters. She asks you for a safe place.

The old lady is at the house to the left right before you enter the sewers place I believe.

Gotcha, i remember now.

Is there a specific order I need to do things to get the Chikage and the weapon from Alfred? Aka
can I just join the covenant to get the blade, then go back to alfred and give him the summons for the wheel?

I'm about to throw the damn disc out the window.

Fuck
Dogs
Fuck
Bell Maiden

I can't even fucking reach her if these fucks chase me down 300MPH and I can't kill them fmast enough or stun them from the way this part of this level is designed.

theres more than 1. worst zone in the game (and in my opinion, in any souls game), the best strategy is just run and dodge every mob until you reach the lantern, which isnt far. how exciting >_>

Question about mid/late game arcane stuff
How good is the speed up spell? I'd have to throw 7 points into arcane to use it, wondering if it's any use at all
Seems kind of a dud. Takes 6 bullets and barely last long enough to be worthwhile. Beast roar is more useful

So, I just tried to summon someone in the forgotten words just for grins. Got a "lost network connection" error twice after about 5 seconds and lost my insight each time....that's kinda crappy.

I just bolted through that entire level, found the shortcuts and ignored the enemies once I realized what was going on. Only spot I stopped for was with the
three hunters.

Upper ward key should be in Yahargul Unseen village. In the courtyard area before the big laser shooting spider thing with all the hags, there should be a broken railing area you can drop down on. Then you enter a doorway and drop down inside the cage. If you remember its the big cage where there's a Gatling wheelchair enemy and fat brick enemy outside it. The key opens the door at the top of the workshop tower

Thanks for all your help, your description and a video walkthrough got me through. You wouldn't happen to know how to get the tonsil key right...? I've tried walkthroughs but I get no response from the people within...idk what gives.

So it is absolutely confirmed more insight makes the difficulty harder?

It doesnt make the game harder, per say. Like it doesnt make the enemy damage worse or allow them to take more damage, but they do end up changing tactics and sometimes use spells and whatnot. It probably does make it harder in that respect.

So have we figured out exactly how invasion works yet?

From what I understand if there is a bell ringing woman in the area you are in, you can get invaded by someone. Using your beckoning bell to call for help also summons a bell ringing woman, who will pretty much try and get someone to invade you, but you can find and kill her and that will stop any invasion.

I had mine at +5 and it was amazing. Ya it take alot of sta and the damage is same with say the axe... but ludwigs shines because of it's stagger. You hit an enemy first, and you've won.

yep. See enemy and depending on distance forward + R2 or if enemy is charging me: L2 ! then we talk. The stagger is especially good for other hunters. Mauled the one in the college after SoY boss. L2 again and again and follow up with some R1. He had no time to run.

I'd like to add to this. The bell ringing woman only shows up after someone has found a coop partner. So a lot of the time they'll have gone through the boss door before the bell woman has even had a chance to do anything. That or just stand by where she spawns until she shows up then kill her before any invaders show.

Horrible system. Ringing the coop bell should of been the only thing needed to allow invasions.

So have we figured out exactly how invasion works yet?

From what i understand. Every time some one rings a Beckoning bell a bell-ringing women spawns and rings a Sinister bell, allowing you to invade. There are also areas where bell-ringing women just hangout and ring their bells, so if you find those areas you can invade people.

Quoting myself, check it out if you wanna see a fun secret end-game!
Spoilers for the last area (M
ergo's Loft
):
If you go to the void where the big brain drops (after you pull the level), if you stand in front of the brain and use the "Make Contact" gesture and leave it for a little bit, you'll receive a rune. It's just a higher tier Moon rune, but it's still a REALLY well hidden secret.

Its not that hard. Make sure you jump down on them, take the upper path, jump down and press R1 to instantkill the sniper, then let the dogs gather below you, again jump down and r1 them and spam and kill them. Once thats done bum rush the Bell woman and kill her quick, then bolt out of there backtracking so you can focus on the remaining guys.

I got the Tonsil Stone from a window NPC in the F
orbidden Woods.
Its the house by all the dog cages.

Mid game location and boss spoilers:

After I beat
the Witches
, is
Forbidden Woods
the next area I should be going for?

I think it's funny that either fundamental mechanics like Beast Mode are really well hidden or aren't added yet, but nobody's complaining about an unfinished game :p

What level are you? I'm at the same point but am struggling with the bosses.

37. Probably 35 when I beat her. I don't really have any special tactics, I just roll around a lot and use R1 combined with the one handed Saw Cleaver (?). Beat every boss on the first try except
Amalia
but she was easy the third time with 20 healing potions on hand. My roommate on the other hand has a lot of trouble with the bosses. Not sure why I'm having such an easy time so far *knocks on wood*.

Stuck on BSB. The loading times are griefing me hard. I might just wait till the update to continue. The staggers seem so random. I shoot my pistol at the same time and some of the times he staggers and others he doesn't.

May I suggest a dif strategy? I beat him with 2h axe out, with no staggers, but I believe the strat will work with 1h as well. His melee swing is extremely telegraphed, and gets slightly faster, after each phase. What I do is try to keep him in the middle, and just circle strafe in front of him, until he begins to wind up his attack. The I dash up (on d-pad) behind him (stay locked on the entire fight) mash R1 and usually get a 3 or 4 hit combo, before he resets and turns around to try to do the same thing again. It worked quite well for the first 2 phases.
For the 3rd phases, I simply used pungent blood, and BSB literally loses aggro off you for a few secs, and begins to swing wildly at the area where the blood was thrown.
3rd phase, have antidotes ready for quick use, and still avoid all melee attacks the same as before.

I tried a number of dif strats, including the stagger one. Staggering just isn't for me, I don't think. When I would get the stagger off, he would swing anyway, and get staggered while killing me. I decided to just avoid him. Found the shortcut to him, and took 2 days of attempts before I finally killED him 2 hours ago before I came into work.

Also killed the
gatling gun
boss by R2 charge attacking him off the roof. He was kicking my ass and staggering the shit outta me, before I got lucky with that attack.

After I killed BSB, I went back to the Cathedral, and got killed by some dude
who took me to a jail cell in the Unseen Village
Is that natural progression, or did I do something wrong/special.?

She's not at a window, she's at a door. There's also a point in the game where every interact spot in the area is the same guy. He'll give you an item. After that, just warp into the Hunter's Dream and back and they'll return to normal.

Thank you. I'm going to test it out in just a bit, but I think that's the problem. When I tried at the door someone has me an item. I was confused because I thought she was supposed to be there.

Huh, really? I didn't notice any damage improvement over the whip. What makes the Holy Blade so good?

I love it, but I dont know if I can say that. Dark Souls had some great -GREAT- greatswords.

I can't think of a greatsword with a better moveset in any other Souls game. It has horizontal slashes, perfect for taking out large mobs. It has over head strikes for taking out smaller enemies. It has stab pokes for getting a bit more distance when needed. Not to mention it transforms into a long straight sword that has killer speed and ability to stunlock easily.

It also has high scaling in STR, SKL, & ARC so it can fit many different builds.

What do you mean by soft cap? My Strength, Vitality, and Endurance are all around 25. Is there no point in upping them any more?

after the soft cap, each point you put into a stat give a lot less return

soft caps are:

25 for STR/SKILL
30 for VIT
40 for END (actually there is no soft cap for END, just a hard cap)

hard cap is when putting points into the stat gives NO return at all. hard caps are:

50 for STR/SKILL
50 for VIT (I think?)

Doesn't have the swag factor of DBS.

I'm 36 and just beat BSB. I only tried VA once but my attacks did so little damage I think it'll be hard. I've only raised my Str once, maybe that's the problem. My Hunter axe is only +3 since Ive only found one twin blood shard.
