I'm not talking about seeing them in their little purple ghost form when they grab you, I mean
full on body shot clinging to the church like they do in unseen village when you get there

That's what I'm talking about. At 40 insight I can see them clinging to the building

Took out R
om
on my 2nd try.
Just killed a spider here and there to lessen the load, and then killed him..
I did die right after I killed him. Thankfully it counts as a kill! Went back to location and got my drop back.

Well, I knew something was up with him but went against my initial judgement.

I wasn't expecting him to turn into a giant lightning beast and kill the other NPC's I'd saved! Tough enemy. I had to cheese him with poison throwing knives!

Have I screwed the
Unseen Village
?
I mean... I've killed the 4th boss, and tried to let that guy kill me... I have not been sent to the village again. I was there once, got to the lamp, came back, but can't teleport there either.

been stuck on this three ogres boss in this chalice for... I think about 30 tries now.

just now I had it in the bag. I had two ogres down and I was just working on the last one. I had no viles left and 1/3 hp, but since it's just one (the shotgun one, though) if I was REALLLY careful it should be fine.

I choked. I fucked up with 10% hp left on the last ogre. fuck it. fuck. it.

What?! The first area is more open ended than anything in Dark Souls! Areas are way more connected together(in a way that make sense) than DS2, and each individual area have way more shortcuts and alternative routes than any other Souls game! How is that closer to DS2's linear world design?!

Not even remotely close to true. The entire game world is interconnected as far as I can tell, other than an optional area or two. Feels nothing like Dark Souls 2 at all.

As far as I've seen, the game seems more in line with the way Dark Souls 2's world branches linearly, while there aren't as many interwoven areas as Dark Souls 1 (mainly in 1's first half).

The first area is definitely open ended, but it seems more open ended on itself (if that makes sense), rather than having several other areas connecting to it through a shortcut.

How long does a co-op session last? After a boss is defeated?

First you wait about a half-hour for someone to join. At some point you stop caring about the lost insight point and you warp out. Then you try ringing the bell again and it instantly works and a player joins your game. Then he dies immediately.

So it lasts about 35 minutes.

It lasts until the boss is dead.

That's amazing then. How was this not a "thing" days ago then? Maybe I just missed it if it was

How far have you gotten in the game? The whole world feels very connected to me.

Undead Giant is a cunt, it seems really hard to tell how long his chains will last compared to other bosses. Sometimes three......other times 5. He also has a bullshit attack where he knocks you down and then leaps at you which you can do nothing about.

Isn't he the one that gets parried super easily?

I had him down to one shot and he killed me... That's about 6/7 tries and I am already so sick of this. Just seems like there's a ton of luck involved with 30 spiders swarming around...

Edit: sorry. Should have read closer. There are some shortcuts that you will love/will blow your mind.

I feel like you can't see as much from Central Yharnam like in Firelink (Great Hollow, Blighttown, Anor Londo), so it ends up feeling less cohesive. I do agree that Yharnam is just as intricately and ingeniously laid out as Lordran though.

You are wrong; there are interconnections across areas all over the place, including some that are very surprising. Even inside areas there are few that are just linear runs from one end to the next.

Oh damn, I was wrong. I have 60 right now
and see it hanging on the cathedral wall, I was looking somewhere else. I've only beaten BSB, Father G and Cleric so far too.

That's pretty cool.

Haha, actually happened to me in the Woods yesterday! Unfortunately I was the one asking for help :/

I think I've been playing for 20 hours now (does your save tell you?) and I only just beat the second boss. People must be rushing through the game.

Yep. Just beat the 4th boss and I'm around 25 hours in. No way I'll be beating it that quickly. Also, there's only 8 people who registered their times on it, so it's not a very accurate sample at this point.

Finished it at 23 hours, even with looking through all of the items' descriptions and taking notes on important names and places. Looking through the lore thread and this thread I'm really disappointed I missed so much, not finding a majority of the optional/secret stuff. Will have to read up on some of the things and prepare for a NG+ or a new character.

Uh oh, you might have ruined your game! Did you beat the Byrgenwyrth boss?

Hey, any idea who (late boss spoiler)
The One Reborn is supposed to be? Who's reborn?

I've seen a lot of people talk about it; but this thread moves really fast.

So is there
one physically in every place you could be grab ganked? For exemplary is there one in that circular room with the locked door?

Really proud of myself.

First "Souls" game I've ever played, and I never even played any co-op.

Went to a new area (CC), came back to hunters dream and when I try to go back to Hypogean Gaol it says "function unavailable". Is something broken or will I be able to reach it again later???

Wow, guessing here but I was probably around BSB at that point. Max. I do like to take my time with Froms games, its not often that a game pops up that I'll enjoy as much as theirs.

For those having trouble with the Blood Soaked Starved Beast this is what worked for me first try so maybe he has some things I don't know about

Stay behind him as much as possible, wait for him to start an attack then dodge behind him. Stay aggressive. This will get you through the first 2 forms easy. The third form is pretty much the same just that he does that poison cloud attack. When he does that back up asap.

If you need to heal or use an antidote, either wait for him to do that poison cloud run back and use what you need or if you really need it dodge an attack then dash back 2-3 times then heal/antidote. While in the heal animation hammer of dodge diagonal towards him so you can get behind him and not take damage.
His third form one shots no matter what i do.

Did anyone bother fighting (Yarhagul spoilers ahead)
those 3 hunters? I said fuck it made a mad dash toward the place I knew there be a shortcut.

You have no idea how much I think that's amazing. That little thing almost puts it over dark souls 1 for me

Almost :p

I gotta go back to those places now then and check. Wait, I was almost inviso-grabbed in the door leading to
cainhurst throne room, and I didn't see one. Im pretty sure I'm walking around with around 60 insight

I'm at U
nseen Village
now, and went through O
ld Yharnam
just prior. I also saw two new branches from Vicar Amelia (who I haven't beaten yet).

Right now I'm not seeing anything as obvious as two entrances to Darkroot Garden/Basin from Undead Burg and Undead Parish, and then two entrances to Blighttown from New Londo -> Valley of Drakes -> Blighttown or Lower Undead Burg -> Depths -> Blightown.

And this is separate, but I can't often tell where I am in relation to the rest of the world since the outside of Yharnam looks pretty similar in all the places I've gone.

On another note, with 40+ insight, can you fight the
Lesser Amygdalas
, or do you gain anything from seeing them?

Aside from two zones in the end... every area in the game is interconnected.

Old Yarham connects to Cathedral Ward and Healing Church. Healing Church connects to Upper Cathedral, Cathedral Ward and Old Yarnham. Cathedral connects to like 5 zones (Central Yarnham, Hemwick,, Forbidden Forest, Old Yarnham, Lecture Hall, Healing Church, Upper Cathedral). Central Yarnham connects to Forbidden Forest and Cathedral Ward. Forbidden Forest connects to Bernham, Cathedral Ward and Central Yarnham.

The world isn't as interconnected as Dark Souls but it's definitely more interconnected than DS2 and Demon Souls.
