Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

I'm probably super late on this but in new audio log episode did anyone catch the call back to the Starry Night trailer? I thought that was super cool.

Locke has interested me since the H2A prologue and epilogue. I think he's going to be a proper badass.

With people in the Halo Universe you really have several metrics of age to go off of. In the Halo Universe people live waaay longer than they do now, I think I've read that 125-150+ is normal. Case in point, Parangosky who is 96 (as of 2557) and showing barely any signs of old age other than her wisdom.

Pretty much, you have a persons Actual Age taken by subtracting current year from their year of birth, and you have a persons Biological Age which takes into account time spent in cryosleep and all of that fun stuff, the Biological Age being the one we are talking about when we say "All people die at 150".

In Halo, John's actual age is 46 (as of 2557) having been born on 2511. Now this is where it gets fun. Whereas a normal civilian in the Halo Universe may have a Biological Age which is relatively close to their actual age, maybe differing by a couple years at most depending on how often they go on vacation to another colony and underwent cryosleep for whatever reasons, John is a soldier, and has been one since the age of 6, so it wouldn't be odd to say that he's spent a good portion of his life in cryosleep, especially since he would be constantly going between colonies for his spartan duties. As such, it wouldn't be odd to say that the Chief has somewhere closer to a Biological Age of 35.

Then take into account his seemingly perfect genetics and augmentations, it wouldn't be odd to see him make it into the higher brackets of Human Lifespan without trying all that hard.

if only it was that predictable. Only fancy gadgets don't win wars. Experience and courage does also play a part. Master Chief has been out for a long long time, to me he would destroy Locke

Why does Dr. Tillson from Halo 4 look very old at the age of 51?

Hasn't it been said that a spartan 2 and 4 are equal when in suits due to technology advances. But out of their suits a Spartan 2 would Win.

Off topic but I wish they used a surviving Spartan 2 in place of Locke. Would make it way more dramatic and epic.

Genetics or Stress? She is in a position of higher authority, and that would lead to stress.

Also just because people live longer doesn't mean they necessarily look younger longer. It just means that they look the equivalent of what a person who was their age would look like... Of course if they could afford plastic surgery or if in 2557 there is some sort of medical treatment to stop the collagen and elastin in your skin from decreasing people could theoretically look younger.
 
Locke has a team of spartans with him, as evidenced in the H2A cutscenes. So I doubt he'd take on Chief alone.

It's been bothering me since Cortana brought up her age on the Composer mission. I knew Johnson was in his late 60's in Halo 3 (or older) but it didn't make sense to me why she looked so old at a younger age. What you said makes sense though.

You also have to take into account that Spartan-II's are far more experienced and disciplined. So even if the were physically on equal footing, the Spartan-IIs still have a huge advantage in that regard.

and to add the fact that Chief is no regular Spartan-2 he is considered the greatest Spartan in UNSC history and the greatest soldier/warrior in UNSC history...

Locke in the gaurdians trailer said he wasn't looking for a spartan, he was looking for THE Spartan referencing Chief

and in Halo 4 Dr. Halsey says "do not underestimate them, but most of all do not underestimate him"..

Well, that's not exactly true. There are other IIs who are/were better, smarter, faster, stronger, etc. But John is the natural leader, and he's lucky.

true..he wasn't necessary the most skilled...but in terms of achievements and accomplishments he is, undoubtedly the greatest warrior of all of UNSC
 
We're back to the spartan 2 vs spatan 4 debate? I feel like this is the halo equivalent to the now meme dbz squareoffs. What would a spartan 2 rank on that scale and would cell stand a chance against john 1117?

I think that it's an interesting subject, honestly. It's something they're probably going to be exploring in the games as well, the sense of being replaced tying in neatly with a number of themes they're setting up.

Chief Is using mark 6 that has been altered via nano tech while in cryo on the forward unto dawn. Also since chief did take his armor off on the infinity it is not out of the realm of possibility his armor received other upgrades. But you are right chief has gen 1/ Locke has gen 2

And being a frail old woman on a cane - not just for show to others, but in her own perspectives too. She was getting tired and was well ready for retirement by then. But your guess of 125 may well be right if they retire in their 90s in the future. Then again, that could just be old Maggie clinging on to her job way longer than normal, nothing says thats the average retirement age.

Actually, I forget my reasoning, but I had convinced myself a while ago that the Haloverse lifespans aren't too much more advanced than our own.

ONI has a buttload of experience with forerunner tech now, building the Infinity. They have Huragok. The SIV suits are already more advanced than what the Spartan IIs wear, but that mostly just helps to close the gap in their abilities (though an SII would still wipe the floor most likely). So I'm betting given that information, that Lockes suit is even more advanced than anything they've built before, considering he's hunting the luckiest spartan out there. Even if his augmentations and experience aren't up to snuff (and augmentations may have improved since the IVs as well), the suit may well make him faster and stronger, certainly better shielded, etc.

Imagine a suit powered by a mini Forerunner engine, giving it effectively infinite energy for its purposes to work with.

Anyone know how to scrape the Hail and Cost images from the dashboard? They could make good wallpaper and I know other people were able to get other images (at least I think so.)

chief combat skills could make up for the lack of armour compared to Locke..but we'll see
