sprint to his side, there are 2 smaller legs on each side, get in between them and just mash R1, they do stomp at you but tend to do much less damage, if you have a fast weapon (Killed him half an hour ago using a un-transformed Saw Spear) you can mostly get your HP back at about the same speed. Watch for his explosion and run from it.

Doesn't matter, but If you are looking to getting the multi game ending using the save backup technique I wouldn't recommend eating them until your final "Playthrough"

From what I can tell, focus on the legs. It'll make him lose that spark and lie down for a while, perfect for smacking.

Anybody else playing through the game as slowly as I am? 25 hours in, only beaten 4 bosses. I guess I'm just surprised at how many people have beaten the game multiple times now, a week after release. For me, the first playthrough of Souls game is always the best, so I'm going through at a slow pace on purpose. For me, that really helps me soak in the world. (And if you prefer going through the game faster, no problems there either, all down to personal preference.)

I've been past the dog cages, found the first friendly NPC, found that ginormous boar in an underground tunnel and got to the bit in the sewers where you get ambushed by a man-beast at the end. That must be a decent chunk?

rontier. Not too bad of an area, though having to fight two hunters while having a conversation with someone sitting next to me took some vials out of me. But I killed the summoning witch who I don't think will respawn, and managed to explore a bunch of it and grab the poison resist rune (which sounds super handy, especially for that area). Had to stop though because the poison was getting to me and I ran into a wall with some enemies that caused frenzy super quick and my gear has shitty res against it. Will definitely try to approach it later as the game goes on because its a real interesting area.

I finished that area earlier. There are 5 or 6 runes there, and you'll want to go back to hunters dream and equip them. There's also a really neat hidden item there that could come in handy for pvp.

I was rocking a +8 ludwigs sword, ashen armor set for the frenzy resist (or church clothes for poison), and I think I was a level 65.

Same issues here. Reddit has some workaround tips that didn't help. It's a huge problem.
