Really don't want to farm earlier Chalice Dugeons to unlock the later ones :( They were boring going through once. Really should have done them early on.

Do the chalice dungeons start giving more unique loot later on? Finished a couple and while its a neat idea, I feel like all the chests have just contained stuff for getting to higher chalices.

Pretty neat how there are different enemies in the mode though. I should have been trying them while playing through the game normally, since im at the end now and am kind of just wanting to beat the final boss.

Does new game plus affect chalice stuff?

Okay, then what is the community agreed self-imposed blood level 'limit' for this game? 100?
Well there isn't a consensus really yet, although most believe 100 is too low, so the push is more towards SL120. That will allow people to have multiple stats at 40+. Possible build is 50 vitality, 50 strength (or skill), 20-30 endurance (use rune of 15-20% stamina to make up for the fact that you didn't go to 40). High vitality is essential because you have a 30% Health penalty when you invade. Plus, high vitality is essential in a certain chalice dungeon.

Question for people that have finished it.
I have only consumed two pieces of umbilical cord. Do I need the third one. What is the difference in endings? I never fought that massive spider handed beast, is that the one I'm missing?

Consuming two doesn't change anything, 3 of the 4 possible cords are needed. The true ending has an extra boss. The giant spider doesn't drop one of the cord pieces.

Nope, all chalices stay the same, no increase in difficulty.

I've avoided most hunter fights so far. Took out the machine gun guy but left his friend below him alone because he murdered me three times in a row.
Does killing electric hunter unlock bolt paper at merchant?
Unfortunately no.
He was actually the only one I've been able to kill so far (besides machine gun bro, and yeah I tried killing his friend as well with zero luck...)

3 of the 4? So if I missed the one from the girl in the clinic I can still get a 3rd one? Have the hunters dream and margo ones.

Finally got to FINAL BOSS
Gehrman
his first 2/3 is relatively simple right?

It's just his last 1/3 where he's a little charged up? Any tips?

Yeah I asked this yesterday and got help.
Basically get their attention, leg it downstairs into the bottom basement and lock yourself in a cell. Then with a pokey weapon (Ludwigs sword is ideal) Charge heavy attacks and stab them through the bars. They can't get in the cell

Ok cheers sounds like a plan

Well nevermind, now my fast-quote window is back... but only if I go back several pages. :S Weird.
If you sent the old lady (she was in a house in Yharnam with a dog in front of it) to the
cathedral ward
, she gives them out like candy. The
students in the Lecture Hall
also drop them.
For some reason, I find the second spoiler part to be really funny.
Them students always stoned, of course!

70% of people have gotten the Cleric Beast trophy. A total of 10% have gotten one of the ending trophies. :lol

Come on people! You started it, you can finish it :)
Hey, I'm getting there! :P Just like to take my time is all. I've been doing some chalice dungeons but getting a bit bored, you can tell the intricate From level design is not there. Though I've only done the Pthumeru ones, maybe the other chalices have different tilesets that will offer some fresh change?

The only non-Chalice thing I have left, that I can find, is (4th headstone)
Margo something, whatever is after what's-his-face Usain Bolt who cried about me waking him up.
I'm guessing I'm pretty close to the end, right?

I dont get how chalice dungeons work. And its really frustrating... So I unlocked the 1st one and currently at the 3rd layer. They gave me another chalice on the 2nd layer. I use that chalice to open a new dungeon? How much deeper is a dungeon?

Nope, all chalices stay the same, no increase in difficulty.

Root dungeons randomize the layout and loot; you can get some Uncanny and Lost versions of weapons (different blood gem slots) and some rare blood gems and crafting materials. The Depth level of a chalice dungeon is its difficulty, past depth 3 is when things get pretty tough.

And guys, a beginner's guide was added to the OP a few days ago. Check it out!

One of the trick weapons can only be found in a high chalice dungeon.
You'll also find better bloodgems, but other than that the drops are mostly the same. NG+ doesn't affect chalice dungeons at all.

They don't scale so I guess listen to a podcast and just rush through them.

I'm not missing something in thinking that you have to do the early ones a few times in order to be able to do the other chalices you unlock? I beat around 3-4 Chalice bosses and just don't have high enough ritual blood to make the next one.

I'm not a big fan of Chalice dungeons myself. I think it'd take something pretty special to make them fit into the FromSoft design. I have barely touched it, yet I've played through the main story with 5 different characters already. And yeah, you're very close to the end of the main story, but there might be a bit of optional stuff you haven't done.

Yep. If you kept Arianna alive, after killing Mergo she'll give birth to a baby monster in the basement of the chapel. Kill it and you'll get the 3rd chord.

Thanks, I was just answering his question if NG+ affects Chalice dungeons, which I believe they do not.

Man, Abhorrent Beast is a straight up psycho. It's basically Father G's
beast form with a ton of health that can't be parried.
Barely any time to get hits in since its swinging all day.

Finally got to

If you're spoiler tagging the final boss at least give people a hint what they're gonna be highlighting. That could be literally any boss in the game.

Filled my 2 boss quota for the day,
Rom and Logarius down. Logarius was pretty hard, Rom wasn't that bad, just irritating to finish him off
. Definitely feel like this game would reward builds that spread their points a little more, my Strength focused build isn't giving much returns, meanwhile all these arcane items look really good and a mixture of both would probably be a better PvE build.

This game's environments are much better in the later half, makes up for the dull first half of the game.

Next run through I think I'll do Arcane/Skill.

Heard insight makes the game harder, sitting on over 60, don't gif a fuk. Wondering if it makes enemies hit harder or have higher healthbars, seems to be a big mystery. Most people say it adds new movesets but it's hard to tell the first time through.

That's correct. I destroyed my chalice dungeon before realizing that. Luckily, you can search for other's dungeons of the same type and it doesn't cost you any components as long as you have unlocked that dungeon type once. Root dungeons are randomized variants. You need to redo depth 2 difficulty dungeons to get blood ritual type 3 for example.

Or people are just taking their time with the game.

I don't have countless hours in my day to play the game, so I get home from work, play for maybe an hour or two if I can, then do other stuff. I play a lot more on the weekends, but I'm usually spending time with my wife. More people will beat the game eventually.

Yep. Been playing almost every day since release, and only lvl 70 and still needing to face R
om
. Taking my time checking as much of it out as possible.

Holy fuck with the shadows summoning
fucking huge snakes from the ground
thats not suppose to happen...barely beat that one on ng plus.

I'll go for 120 myself.
If they latter decide to cap it at 100 I'll do another character, but I like 120 more.

By the end of the game, you'll probably want to get your insight really low to reduce frenzy damage. Well I didn't try high insight plus +300 frenzy resist runes (+200 frenzy, +100 all), so the resist runes might be enough to compensate if your insight really high?
