Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

It's driving me crazy. Every other boss so far has been a cakewalk compared to this.

Think I was in double digits for amount of tries. Summoning took around 15 minutes I'd say :(

All the summons I did get bar the last person died trying to help me (before I died).

Kirkhammer is so much better in my opinion. Once you get enough stamina Charged R2 + R2 is amazing. First one slams enemies down for 700 damage and if they are still alive the 2nd one is a giant baseball swing that sends them flying across the room. Knocked down and all. Total damage like 1200+

Also running R2 is a sweeping strike and L2 with 2H hammer is another wide sweeping strike.

I've been Axe only, currently have it up to +5 I believe.

However, yesterday I realised there are a few scenarios it's really not that useful for. And I'm going for a mainly strength build, so...

Kirkhammer buyin' time. Already got it up to +3. Have it up to +4 soon. Then imma run through Central Yarnham to get used to the moveset. Seems great, and Rapier was the only weapon I used in DeS and DaS, so it'll be nice to return to a pointy sword on the R2 attack.

I've not been able to play Bloodborne since Thursday evening. I've dealt with the cold turkey using this thread and the wiki.

But once I get home tonight: Amelia goes down.

I had a hiatus, too and beat Amelia last night! Fourth try I think. No co-op.

Don't use lock on, and be aggressive. More specific useful stuff which I found helpful (not fully spoiler but will hide anyway):
Never stand directly behind her, always behind to one side, flanking. Almost all her attacks are really easy to check (diagonal roll past her) unless her hair's everywhere in the way, then it's difficult to see her limbs. Put some distance between her if you're not sure what to do. The instant you're around her after dodging an attack, start wailing on her. She gets stunned quite easily. Get used to her repeated hand-slam attack though, you have to keep dodging to avoid that. If you wail on her limbs enough you'll stun her, opening her head for a visceral. I only managed that once and fluffed the two other opportunities, but still beat her.

Make sure you've levelled up your weapons a bit. If you haven't do a few runthroughs of Cathedral Ward and make sure to explore every cranny - there's some really valuable shit in there.

Still looking for these Runes if anyone has Glyphs for Chalice Dungeons with them:

Arcane Lake - Arcane DMG reduction +10%
Clear Deep Sea - Add slow poison RES +300
Deep Sea - Add frenzy RES +100
Formless Oedon - Max QS bullets held UP +1

Do you know if the
hunter in the cathedral will be there for a while or if this is the only chance?

You'll be fine.

If you are interested, there is a really easy way to kill him... "cheesing" him, if you will. Highlight the spoiler if you want to know/try it.

Just hang around him a bit and as soon as he whips out a two handed stance *immediately* disengage and ran back outside the door and watch as he basically kills himself, lol

Definitely give it another go. The whip's neutral backdash light/heavy attacks and cane>whip transformation attack make it such a beautiful precision weapon; Once you get good with it you'll destroy mobs with ease. Only bosses manage to out range you with the pimpcane. Heck, it's only now on my second playthrough that I've even gotten to see the attack animations for the snakes and snake men because I exclusively used the whip before and always killed them outside their reach.

That said, I've had a horrible go at it in PvP. And that range advantage goes up in smoke against bosses.

Ahhhhhhhh I'd love to if I only haven't spent all of my Twin Blood Stones on Rifle Spear and Blades of Mercy.........

I am currently Level 37 and I have about the following stats.

Vit: 21
End: 19
Str: 23
Skill: 14

I haven't invested in the rest. I just defeated BSB and currently rocking a Hunter Axe (the best one so far) and Cleaver Saw. Which points should I focus on from now on? I am thinking to spend more on Skill + Str?
Anyone????? :(

Where's a good place for soul farming/bullet farming? I'm on Logarious now (because Mensis Nightmare is fucking difficult for me now at level 70) and I've run out of bullets. Usually I'd farm vials at Central Yarnham, but that run only provides four bullets per run, which isn't enough.

2 more marks await me before i completely anihilate this game. Bloodletting beast and the Queen in great Pthumeru Chalice dungeon. Everything else is dead. NG+ also complete.

So, without further ado: Dear Bloodletting Beast, my dearest Queen: Your souls are mine!!

What an awesome game.

Forbidden Woods is good for low level grinding for just about everything.

Lecture building first floor. In the room with lots of the enemies. They often drop 3xbullets.

For echoes and bullets I done a few runes starting on the second floor and then going down to the first and then back to second floor, rinse/repeat. Nets about 40-50k with moon rune and a good amount of bullets.

I can reliably get her down to 30% using only around 5-6 vials each time, then a combination of total bullshit seems to get me every time.

I'm level 30 and I think the next boss is Amelia. I'm not sure if I should press on, grind a few levels or try one of the chalice dungeons next. I have only been using the saw cleaver so far, is Ludwigs sword worth saving up for?

Many considers it as one of the best weapons in the game.

You'll need to equally split STR and SKL for it to reach its full potential though.

You can go to various places right now though if you wish to explore more.

all my drawings haven't been able to escape my wanting to be playing bloodborne at home lately.

Thanks. I'm new to the series so my points have all gone into endurance, vitality and strength, would Ludwig still be worth getting?

Needs some help.

A few days ago I bet the
blood-starved beast
I wasn't sure where to go next but I was told to go back to the
cathedral
and enter a new door which has opened. My question is, how did you know you had to go back to the
cathedral
?

Yeap I say. Its requirement is 16 Strength and 12 Skill, just try it :)

It only gives equal scaling to STR and SKL when upgraded to level 7. And even if you don't like it, Tonitrus, yet another weapon many people consider as the best, heavily favors STR so yeah.

Personally, I found the Axe to be much, much better due to its better range and amazing R2 charge attack. Ludwig's is stronger, but I have mixed feelings on it due to the move set (used Ludwig's in NG+ and it got me pretty far though I regretted not maxing out my Axe).

Just a FYI, these are numbers you should aim for/stop at in terms of stats (soft caps I think)

Vitality: 30
Endurance: 40 (stamina maxed out at 160)
Strength: 25
Skill: 25

Not sure on bloodtinge and arcane, but would assume 25 is where the soft cap is well.

Haha I really don't like to cheese, but I had to see what would happen when I read you describing it. That was hilarious.

isn't it like, once you get to lv 25 it's like half benefit?

I entered the
Nightmare of Mensis
.Nope'd out there for now, trying upper cathedral ward first.

btw my Ludwig blade is getting crazy powerful. I noticed it has SKL scaling of B now too, so my next mission is to get that stat close to 30 as well. I have a +18% attack rune (!) and I'm dealing some serious damage.

N
ightmare of Mensis is such a pain in the ass. I hate that frenzy bar, the enemies hit hard....Attempted the area 4 times today and the best I got was inside the building where I got fucked up by the spiders. I'm getting too frustrated--might just save the area for the weekend when I have more time to dedicate to it.

Stay behind cover to not get hit by frenzy. Bait enemies. Or run past them. Same for spiders. It's the best level in the game once you figured it out.

Got a chance to play some more of this over the weekend and really like it, maybe more so than Dark Souls because I feel like a total badass and like I am actually good at the game when I stun bosses or larger enemies with the pistol.

Managed to beat my third, fourth and fifth bosses
Blood-stained Beast, The Witch of Henwick and Vicar Amelia respectively
as well as completing the first chalice dungeon. Of the three bosses the fourth took way more tries than I had hoped and caused me to swear far more than I would have liked in front of my parents and grandfather
seriously, that bind and visceral attack got me way too many times
and the fifth I had very proudly killed on my first try. I do give some of my success to the fire stone on my saw and a lucky gunshot, that fire rune did cause me some trouble on
the final boss of the chalice dungeon for very obvious reasons
.

Worked my way somewhat into the lost woods area and after some progress and sloppy deaths I "wandered" into the lecture theatre before I had to leave.

Will be about a month before I get to play again and I am already wishing I had just a bit more time to explore more or take one another boss.

I have a few questions though, if I have the fire stone on my weapon do the other physical attack up gems not stack onto the fire damage? Also and possibly a bit spoilerish as it involves some items you find,
should I be putting some points into Arcane? I got a couple of items that require it and consume bullets, the one from the lecture halls said something about summoning that sounded useful.

Need some help in Y
ahar'gul.
There's a lift at the bottom of the level near what I suspect is the TOR fight that looks like it takes me back to the first lamp, but it isn't working when I step on it. The lever next to it says that it's not currently operable. Am I just missing something or has the lift bugged out?

The axe moveset is super versatile with each button, and the charge R2 knocks EVERY enemy on its ass to give you breathing space along with giving you a hit of armor to absorb a hit and due to the health system regain the health after you let it rip.

It's insane.

Yeah R2 with the axe is nice but I found that the hammer will stun enemies more often then the Axe with regular attacks. While the axe may just slice through an enemy, a lot of times the hammer will actually knock them back and stop their incoming attack, setting them up for the next attacks.

I used to switch back and forth between the Kirkhammer and Axe for different scenarios, but ever since I would say Blood Starved Beast or so it has been exclusively HammerTime

Especially once I realize the running R2 switch was a wide sweeping baseball swing. Love that attack. A running R1 is also useful as you push the guy which almost always stops their movement, leaving room for your next moves.

Both are of course great, but I've moved more toward the hammer. Especially with the massive damage it does and I'm only to +6 at the moment. For an example I killed one of the 3 hunters that you fight together in 3 hits lol. First one was a charged R2, 2nd was a riposte, third was another charged R2. Dead. Then baseball swinged the incoming Cane using dude and knocked him across the room, which I then ran up and blasted him in the face with my cannon. Was down to like half health at that point lol. Was great.

Hammer + Cannon +6 = awesome. I am using Echoes these days to buy bullets lol, since the cannon uses 10 each. You only get 2 shots per run really unless you get lucky and a ton of them drop.

Oh c'mon, I had
Gehrman
at 10% when he drains my entire health with one stupid swing, which has never happened before.Arrgghhh

I am trying to find the route to a pickup I can see, but not get.

It's in old yarham, if you go down the ladder where the npc hunter was, to the left there are some stairs with two ghouls, on the left there is a hole in the wall with a pickup inside, I can't figure out how to get in there, any help?

When you go down the same ladder, go right and fall down the side of the building. Just be careful but you'll be able to get down and enter.

From the ladder that has an
NPC hunter
in front of it, go to the right while staying close to the wall, you will be able to drop down here, there are
crows
near the drop point.

It definitely takes a jump. But I mostly blame the
Bell Maidens
. They completely alter the dynamic of the U
nseen Village
and not in a good way.

I wouldn't say its a difficulty spike so much as it forces you to play the game in a slightly different way. You can't methodically clear enemies one by one anymore and have to dash through, kill the special mob and then clear the enemies. It's really not hard at all, like most things like Bloodborne the hard part is the realization of what you have to do.

Just a curiosity: how enemies level up in Bloodborne? Are they always the same level of you or there's something like j-rpg (if you power level yourself, the game is way easier)?

They wont level up. You will find stronger reskin of the same enemies in later zone, but if you go back to the first zone, they won't have leveled up with you and you can farm easier for items there

2 things

1, i cant make my mind up on the armour in this game stat wise so for general play i just fashionborne it (currently the bone ash armour omfg it is so god damn sexy)
Has anyone found a decent set up for general use or do you guys just fashion it up when not on bosses?

2 my stats this game still hurts my head on how it works and i do not think that will change until my friend gets it and explains it to me like the retard i am.
so i use the cane +10 as all other weapons aside from ludwigs are meh for me and i use the repeater pistol, not putting stats in anything else just to use evlyn.
at level 93 my stats are this
vit 34
end 24
str 20
skill 40
blood 10
arcane 15

I went with skill for the cane as it is a A i thought it would upgrade to s when i got +10 but nope

I do enjoy ludwigs but it is cumbersome i assu e this is because my str is low?

What should i lvl next because i have no idea what I'm doing lol my hp is 1193 i assume i should work on this for chalice dungeons but i cant find any runes to up it :( well i got a plus 5% but i choose to use a plus 15% stamina instead.

Is this a design flaw?

Like where you have to drop down several sections, losing a portion of your health as you make your way down to the bottom in the
healing church workshop
on the bottom there's some
wolf-like creation near a door, he throws fire at you

Is this the way it supposed to be played?
