Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

For shits and giggles I added all my +Poison gems to my Kirkhammer and could never notice it actually applying to the enemy. Think I had a +1.8, +0.8, +1.2 added

Is there something special you have to do to make poison apply to the enemy or is the damage so small i just couldnt tell.

Poison weapons were always a waste in souls games. You can probably get it to apply to a boss though.

A buddy told me to go back and revisit two areas now that I've killed
The One Reborn
. He said to revisit
Oedon Tomb and the Grand Cathedral.
.

The first one had nothing going on. The 2nd one would let me use the lamp there to warp in. I'm about to use the nearest one to go check it out. Any tips?

I think you just have to kill The One Reborn before you kill Amelia. All Bosses Speedruns use that skip and sitll manage to kill everything and finish the game.

Yup and I didn't, thats why I cant advance anymore :(. I'll just start over and do it right this time.

Howdy guys, I am not reading the OT because still going through the game, but look for response.

Quick question: My NAT is Type 2, and I seem not be able to find anyone to help with bosses. One of my favorite things to do is help out with bosses during "Souls downtime". Also, I experimented with PVP and can't find any opponents either. Is there some kind of hidden restriction for the first NG? Is NAT very important in BB?

I have it set to worldwide.

I just posted a good answer to you about 5 comments up.

Slapped P
aarl
silly with my second character. Actually did it when the option was first presented this time and it still took like 2 minutes.

I wonder how people would feel if instead he was replaced by Abhorrent Beast lol

Just killed Rom.

This game is amazing. If it keeps this up, it'll surpass Dark Souls as my GOAT.

I'm out before I read spoilers!
It already did for me. Even though magic got ditched and build variety gone, the faster gameplay with the better dodge mechanic, consistent artstyle, enemy design and incredible music makes it the best "souls" game for me.

People saying this is one the best games ever are blind or what? I mean I'm mostly done with the game doing Chalice dungeons and having the final fight to do but come on, Bloodborne is a 7 or 8 top. I know it's the OT and fans won't agree but from a technical point of view this game is a big mess.

- One of the worst cameras ever
- Intense stuttering means choppy combat
- Audio and texture glitches
- Bad clipping (though most games suffer of it)
- Poor loading times, especially if you want to change zones

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. When you delve into actual design decisions and encounter design it gets really ugly.

- Random elites screw the game's balance
- Most bosses are either too easy or too hard; most of them require the same strategies (forward roll or side dash) or to "stunlock" them like Reborn.
- Like I've said before, the items SUCK. There's little variety in the builds meaning exploration is a bit boring. Even in Chalice dungeons all I get are fucking Ritual Bloods and other materials.
- Being swarmed isn't really fun, meaning you oftentimes need to "pull" monsters from groups as to not get rekt. If I wanted to play a MMO I'd play one.
- Monsters deal way, way too much damage overall. It gets stupid sometimes, but the worst is when they combo you to death since you are stunlocked or whatever.
- Environment variety is poor. Churches, woods and...churches.

The truth is Bloodborne is too frustrating for a lot of people including me, but I still tried to be critical. I even felt the Hub wasn't as clever as the one on Demon's Souls, and the Doll is just not memorable at all. I have the feeling lots of PS4 owners are glorifying the game because it's an exclusive. It also seems the press didn't want to see the numerous faults this game have.

A lot of things that you are complaining about are a lot worse in Dark/Demon Souls.

Also I can't believe that you are complaining about variety. I can't think of a single game I played over the past 4 years that had as much variety...

The community is still debating on lvl 100 vs lvl 120, so I'll just get mine to 110 since I have no horse in this race, that way I can play against both.
Unless there's been another shift in the last few days the big streamers all agreed on 110
Yeah, rarely. They only ever lead to a small chest with a couple Chalice Materials in it though.

And sadly the Crown of Illusions does not reveal them.
cool, thanks. Wonder how many I've missed so far then...

I had 12 in my fast poison attribute and never noticed the effect at all, ever. Ditto slow poison. I gave up those gems and went for straight damage.

HA

I was looking at trophy data, so bored at work

Defeated Cleric Beast - March 24th
Defeated Father Gascoigne - March 24th
Defeated Amelia Vicar - March 27th
Defeated Blood Starved Beast - March 28th
Defeated Shadow of Yharnam - April 1st
Defeated Rom - April 4th
Defeated Witch of Hemwick - April 4th

You can tell I got stuck in the forest for awhile! lol.

I'm shocked you don't get any trophies for the NPC Hunters and also didn't get a trophy for
the latest boss I fought with a cutscene and everything even, The One Reborn. Which I defeated on my first attempt and only had 9 vials to boot!

Though I don't agree with most of your criticisms; I can understand why some people would have them. This game is definitely not for everyone.

Seriously at the bolded?

No game is perfect.

I don't find the Cannon that OP. it only takes off half dmg for regular enemies in the lower part of the Chalice dungeons. probably OP for regular game and PVP, but it's been underwhelming for me and I have it at +6 currently.

It also depends on how close you are to the enemy. I killed
Daughter of Cosmos
with 3 cannon shots only. My bloodtinge stat was 9.

I just started (got cut down by the fat & large butcher knife wielder twice in a row) but won't touch the game again until 17th of April (finals); hopefully the planned patch is out by then.

That said, why is it that almost all other NPCs (even the old man in the wheelchair whose name escapes me atm) & regular enemies are bigger (taller) than the protagonist?

Is the answer tied to the story itself and is unveiled later? It's just that I don't want get spoiled but if it's a design decision then I wonder why

You should've gotten a trophy for this boss.

Ha, took down BSB with no armor on my second attempt. And the first only failed because the summoner died.

I love this game entirely too much.

FINNALY!

Only had one blood vial left when I took him out! What an amazing fight!

Thanks for the tips guys.

Given that the game has so many giant bosses, you'd think From would have come up with a better camera system.... Becomes useless in a lot of matches. Heck, some bosses end up making the camera fuck up and lose it's target...

he is actually easier in the chalice dungeon, since the pillars block the missiles

Well, yeah that part becomes easy. The issue for me there were the adds. I finally just destroyed all adds between rounds and then played peak-a-boo with boss till it was dead.

Trick is to not lock on when fighting huge bosses. And disable camera auto adjust in options.

Your whole post became shit after this.

I really dislike "my opinion is the only one that's right, the rest is blind" posts...

it's actually better to unlock the camera at times for the giant enemies which is amusing.

Okay so this game seems pretty great so far. It's like Demon's Souls and Ninja Gaiden all wrapped up in one blood-soaked package with a sprinkle of Tim Burton on a really bad acid trip.

I had a good session at the weekend playing with a mate of mine taking turns. We are both familiar with the Souls style so it was a lot of fun discussing and assessing the potential lethality of the various situations we encountered and deciding the best way forward. Explored a lot, opened up a few shortcuts and got to Cleric Beast. I started as Waste of Skin though and the doll only just activated so I think I will level up a bit before I face the Cleric Beast again. Can't wait to dive in again.

The technical stuff I agree with (mostly), except for the camera, it's rarely an issue, & on the rare occasion that it is, then not using auto-target is a better idea anyway.

- Random elites screw the game's balance

No they don't, just because they're better than your average mook doesn't mean they screw up the game's balance.

- Most bosses are either too easy or too hard; most of them require the same strategies (forward roll or side dash) or to "stunlock" them like Reborn.

If you read through this thread, almost every person has a boss that gave him/her a hard time & a boss that s/he breezed through, & it's usually different, that's a sign of the game giving you different options, tools & playstyles where every playstyle would make different bosses easier or harder.

- Like I've said before, the items SUCK. There's little variety in the builds meaning exploration is a bit boring. Even in Chalice dungeons all I get are fucking Ritual Bloods and other materials.

There's a consumable item for every function you'd ever want on any game, what are you talking about? & the build variety is only applicable if you haven't played the game past the 4th boss, the game gives you nearly as much variety in builds as the Souls games, it just goes at it in a different way because the gameplay is very different, & for the first time ever, it didn't make magic builds "easy mode".

- Being swarmed isn't really fun, meaning you oftentimes need to "pull" monsters from groups as to not get rekt. If I wanted to play a MMO I'd play one.

Maybe you should observe the enemy first before going all Ninja Gaiden on everyone?

- Monsters deal way, way too much damage overall. It gets stupid sometimes, but the worst is when they combo you to death since you are stunlocked or whatever.

Good.

- Environment variety is poor. Churches, woods and...churches.

Yup, you haven't completed the game.

Thanks for your opinion, but next time, you should be less abrasive & consider that other people might have a different opinion instead of calling us "blind" for just liking the game, or that we're just Sony fanboys for liking it, WTF? Was that necessary? I guess all the reviewers, the Souls community, streamers, & youtubers are just Sony fanboys, right? It's a conspiracy!!!

Even not locked on, the camera is shit in the boss battle with E
brietas
. Cause that boss is so big & fat and up close that many times it is just in the way and can't see where you are anymore.

A
mygdala
needed to be locked on so I can easily knock it's head down while under it.

Camera on or off, still lousy..
I'll have to try turning off auto-adjust next time

it's actually better to unlock the camera at times for the giant enemies which is amusing.
I don't lock on, still feels like I was more fighting with the Camera then E
brietas
.

I had some weird theory last night that this game is about alcoholism, but I was really stoned.

Also, fuck the
Nightmare Frontier.
Ugh.

Has From said anything the glitched elevator before the
Ebrietas
boss? I don't want to stop playing to wait for it to be patched but I don't want to miss it either. Has anyone here had this happen to them?

oh, if you were someone that just ignored the adds and poked at him then yea its harder. I always killed the adds every time

This game has some tech issues, but it's still the best game out there right now.
