Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

My opinion on the first 6 Bloodborne bosses:

1) First 2 bosses were fairly easy but both very enjoyable. (first try each)
2) BSB kicked my butt hard, only boss I couldn't solo. (10ish tries)
3) Amelia took a good 3 chances and was not too bad. Used fire paper not knowing how awesome it helped.
4) Witch was the easiest boss on the planet. (2 tries, got sandwiched 1st attempt)
5) 3x Hunters @ Forbidden Woods weren't too bad. Learned after the 1st attempt to kill Haduken guy first. (2 attempts)
6) ROM kicked my butt hardcore (probably 12 attempts)

BSB and Rom gave me the most trouble easily. Other than BSB and the Witch, great bosses. I'd love to try BSB again.

I feel like I missed someone.

That's why I loved this game - I had the exact opposite experience.

Father G, the Shadows (the 3x hunters, actually they are clerics), and Amelia were the hardest for me, however I owned Rom and BSB.

Still looking for these Runes if anyone knows a Glyph for a Chalice Dungeon that has one of them:

Clear Deep Sea - Add slow poison RES +300
Deep Sea - Add frenzy RES +100
Formless Oedon - Max QS bullets held UP +1

Only 3 left that I need to complete the full set of Runes and have every last one of them.

Using the environment to your advantage is a "cheap trick"...

Pray, how did you handle the Maneaters in Demon's?

dunno, don't recall having any issues with them? Probably ran up to em, hit, blocked, rolled away, struck again ... etc. etc.

Not sure though lol. Been years since I played Demons.

But he wasn't telling the guy to use the environment even. Just to run up, hit, run away, when the thing turns around ( which they don't always do? ), run back up, hit, run away ... repeat.

I'd rather actually learn how to fight something. To each their own.

Deep sea is in the frontier nightmare no ? I have it and I haven't been in Calice yet

I got a Eileen The Crow question -
I never saw her in the fight vs the Hunter near Father G. However I do have the crown badge, so I'm assuming she died without me noticing her being there and I picked up her badge? That would be the only way for me to get it, right?

Right, I think I'm at the very end of the game now and I need some help: I have all three T
hird Umbilical Cords
and I believe they are used to get the
true ending.
What do I actually need to do with them? Do I just use them from my inventory? If so, when should I use them? There's still a lot of content I want to do, and I don't want to cut it short right at the end by using them too early.

Yeah, I've been really surprised reading the discussion here how different the bosses are for some people. Pretty much everyone agrees that the
Witches
are the easiest, but I've seen a lot of different bosses claimed to be the hardest in the game. I think it's a good thing, the boss designs are different enough that everyone gets tripped up by one or two the first time through.

As far as I know, that's correct.

She has disappeared from there now. I walked back to the tomb and she is not there either.

Go defeat R
om
and go back to grand cathedral.
She'll be injured at the top of the stairs at the entrance where you had to defeat VA.

I never saw her at the Ward, so not sure what triggers that. For me she stayed at the Tomb
until I beat Rom

Could someone just clarify what arcane does? I know it boosts Molotov damage, but how does it affect weapons? Noticed the Burial Blade and Blades of Mercy both gain a bit of damage when putting points into arcane, but other weapons with arcane scaling gain nothing, is it because those first two weapons naturally do some arcane damage? Do I need to gem the other weapons for magic damage and then the arcane scaling takes effect? Does strength and skill then stop scaling with those weapons when you gem for magic damage?

Up to a Depth 4 and still had ZERO fun in Chalice dungeons. Really unfortunate addition. They could have taken all the resources it took to create all these endless shitty, soulless corridors and instead made just ONE additonal zone crafted by hand - and the game would have been better off for it.

Yes, arcane scaling only adds damage if the weapon already does built in arcane damage. Otherwise you have to gem the weapon for bolt/fire damage which then will change the weapon from whatever scaling it was using to arcane only scaling.

Can anyone tell me if the Blade of Mercy is any good? The idea of dual blades sounds awesome, but I'm already level 60 and I was kinda doing an arcane build with Ludwig's.

So as someone with 50 Skill and strength, I'm guessing that going arcane with Ludwig's Blade would probably be a downgrade.

Just got to Bygenwerth! I do ok dmg to the frenzy beasts, but I do like 30 dmg a swing to the Hunter and the giant creature. Do I need to level up or am I missing something? lvl 48 btw

That's strange. Try advancing beyond V
icar
Am
elia
or R
om
. Then go back and check if she is in Grand Cathedral or Cathedral Ward.

Uh-oh. I put a flame gem into my hunter axe and I'm a STR build. I have 6 Arcane at the moment.

If I changed the weapon to arcane damage, it will show up when I inspect the weapon, right?

Curious about this as well. I have them and fortified to +3 with blood gems in it too, but when in trick mode it hits like a wet noodle. It's really fast, reminds me of a rogue for sure, but I switched back to axe/ludwig because it seems gimp

Have 11 insight, but the store is only selling pungent blood and hunters clothing. When can I buy the bell? Killed three bosses so far.

I love them, but they are different. The move animations are very fast so you need to be willing to move more often. You can definitely stun lock enemies with R1 and with my endurance high I can normally keep them locked until death.

OMFG the change to Y
ahar'Gul
after defeating R
om
just blew my mind.

I'm talking about the city street sections where before there were the giant pigs. Wow! Really amazing design work. All of the
corpses looking like they are trying to escape, climbing up walls, men/women/children, etc. They are EVERYWHERE
- just fucking creepy and tragic. The moment I was done fighting things and just stopped to look around, my jaw dropped.
I mean, I'm assuming those weren't there before. Is it possible I missed them before? o_O

Also, the enemy designs.
Those corpse-collections things with the box they drag around... and the mutating 4-legged lycan things
. Just insane stuff. Love it! This game can be incredibly intimidating with the creature designs.

I haven't gemmed anything for arcane yet, so can't tell for sure. But your weapon is now scaling with arcane which is bad since you have a shitty arcane and it's arcane scaling is horrible.

Oh really? I just finished Eileen's quest line yesterday so I didn't get the chance to buy and test it out yet. I was hoping it was one of those weapons that hits hard and fast, but with the lack of stagger to balance it out.

Agreed. The blades are very fun to use, great against humanoid enemies and even the werewolves. Less damage per hit, but hits per second are pretty high. The transformed R2 is probably my favorite Attack in the game. Definitely different from the heavier strength weapons.

How do i beat the
Chikage Hunter in the Cathedral Ward
?

He moves so fast and does so much damage

You can go the dishonorable route and cheese the hell out of him.
Dodge around until he activates the Chikage transformation where he loses HP, and then run all the way down the stairs to the entrance of the Cathedral. He'll back off and slowly walk back to his starting position while continuously losing HP until he dead.

It is a different vendor. Go into the house, turn left halfway through and you will see another messenger bath outside on the ledge.

use beast bellets, fire paper, bolt paper, etc. I didn't bother with molotovs cz he ducks under them. He parries extremely effectively. Basically I dodged, kept distance but stayed close enough where he wouldn't heal. When he throws those oil urn things or whatever it is, he tends to throw two of them in succession, and you can dodge and get some decent hits on him. I had the most luck doing the fwd jump attack. Take your time, for sure. It's a showdown!!
