isn't 25 some kind of soft cap too? i've been messing with leveling up arcane just for shits and giggles because i thought 25 was a soft cap

No, 25 is NOT a Soft Cap. There's just a minor decrease in returns per point past 25, but 26-50 is still a shitload of stats. This does not qualify for it to be called a Soft Cap. It's merely a small dip in the effectiveness per point.

A Soft Cap is a point when Stat Gains severely diminish to a point where there's not meaningful progression past that point. That point in Bloodborne is 50, though a case could be made that Vitality is still decently useful all the way to 99. 50 Vitality gives you 1500 HP. 99 gives you roughly 1929 I think, which is a pretty hefty chunk.

A Hard Cap is a point where stats *completely* stop giving any returns what so ever. That point in Bloodborne is 99 with one exception. Endurance hard caps Stamina gains at 40 and gives 0 past that all the way to 99, though it still gives some minor Defense increases.

down in one try! Sheeshhh what an intense battle! I actually ran out of Blood Vials and down to half my health when I managed to land that final blow!

Damn I honestly thought I wouldn't make it when I was down to like 7 vials and he's still at half health, but YOLOOOOOOOOOOO and made it! Hahaha! What a goddamn rush!

I am glad that I need not to touch that horrible Nightmare Frontier level ever again, most likely. What a horrible place with all the rock throwing giants and urghhhhhhhhhhh, that Frenzy Inducing American Idol Wannabe Brain Trust, urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It is. past 25 you start getting like half of what you would get before, and at 50 you get like 1 point of damage for every 4 levels you put in lol.

this game does stat gains in 3 tiers.

1-25 full
26-50 moderately deminished
51-99 severly deminished
100 Hard cap

most games seem to have just 2 tiers which is why people are confusing the soft cap and hard cap. Stats gains from 26-50 are only deminished but with better gems and runes you actually gain more from each level. So to me that is the reason for the percieved cap at 25, the true soft cap is 50 and hard cap is 100.

I've helped about 20 people clear Ebrietas so far.

If you need help I'll be around for the next hour or so.

I'm level 80 with no password on just before the fog door.

! At this point, what are my best options for grinding some levels? Feel like I'm starting to be underleved, and it takes over 20,000 echoes already and I'm only level 60!

You guys have explained this better than I have. Thank you.

Those things are pushovers...
Unless they have tentacles coming out of their head, then they're a threat
. I'd get back there asap, there's a good rune there.
That's another thing. I've gotten a shitton of runes on this level alone. I can't believe how many I have now thanks to this place.

The word "cap" implies that you reach capacity for that stat (i.e. putting 1 more point into it produces nothing), but you still get something, the gain is just diminished from what you were getting before.

I was trying to say that 50 was the second soft cap. Sorry i worded it poorly.

Watch my video. She isn't that bad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_R7WhOvOs8

If you're having trouble with her just don't do the strategy of trying to stay behind her. Her front attacks aren't that hard to dodge and her head is where you hit for massive damage

Man, you whiffed quite a few attacks :P

Interesting to see your playstyle differ so much from mine. I went toe to toe with her and used the Cane. I'll have to remake the chalice dungeon and record the fight.

How do I maximize damage with the cane ? I just started a playthrough and I LOVE the weapon but ,damn it, its damage output is weak :(

Level up Skill, put your best Phys. Attack gems on it, and upgrade it whenever you have the materials to do so. At +10 the Cane gets an A rank in scaling.

Any indirect strats ? I was thinking more stamina is a necessity to stack more hits with that thing.

Also which stats ? STR or more based on Skill ?

cane is skill, stamina isn't as important as it used to be imo bc dodging doesn't take much stamina, and it regens really fast. its helpful eventually but focus on skill then stam and vit

I need to share something, GAF.

I've been throwing myself at E
breitas, Daughter of the Cosmos
for a couple days now - haven't been challenged by a boss this much since Vicar Amelia. I was losing constantly, so tonight I figured I needed a change of pace.

I downloaded the Spotify app and put Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks on loop until I was able to beat her...and it only took one try. Just strafed the cunt and used the cane's charged attack -
she never even used her homing lasers.
.

The power of Stevie is real, GAF. I channeled the power of the White Winged Dove herself and banished E
breitas
forever.

i have been enlightened by this post

You can check weapon's stat compatibility by checking its status and look at the D C E etcetc letters.

It's actually one of the best weapons in the game in terms of Skill scaling.

give me a break lol the first time I entered and tried to do the staying behind her strategy because everybody swore by it and got bitch smacked in like 5 seconds. This was the second run and considering I had to learn all of its attack patterns in one run I would argue it wasn't that bad.... outside of almost dying that one time. That extra vit I pumped prior saved me lol. You can see the exact moment in the video where I said "FUCK STAYING BEHIND HER"

You did pretty well, though! What was your level and stats?

I was trying to say that 50 was the second soft cap. Sorry i worded it poorly.

There's no "second" Soft Cap, there's one Soft Cap period. Hard Cap = Full stop on stat gains. Soft Cap = severely diminished returns and no real meaningful progression past that point. 26-50 is extremely meaningful and useful and is just a minor decrease in returns, depending on the Stat.

Vitality all the way to 50 is pretty great. Strength and Skill all the way to 50 depends on your weapons scaling stats but is generally good to great. Bloodtinge to 50 is huge for Chikage and of debatable usefulness for Guns. Endurance all the way to 40 is Fantastic.

Arcane scaling is extremely bad for the weapons with built in Arcane Damage. Even with 50 Arcane the Blade of Mercy, Burial Blade, Logarius' Wheel, and Tonitrus only get +25-35 Bonus ATK from it. And, purely from a numbers standpoint, the Arcane scaling on weapons that you convert to pure Arcane/Bolt/Fire with Gems gives you some awful numbers compared to the Physical Scaling they get from Strength and Skill combined when comparing stats all at 50. Though I guess there's some cases to be made for the weird low level PVP meta crap.

This happened to me once, so sometimes you can only go up.

I cannot tell you for the life of me but wasn't too far off from my current level. So around mid 70s most likely. I had like 26 or 27 STR, 25 SKILL, VIT and END weren't too far off from this either and the other two are like really low. Only recently got my arcane to 15 so I could use some of the hunter tools

yes for instance earlier in the game when I did skill from say 22-23 I would gain 1 or 2 attack on Ludwig's and 1 on Cane. Once I had them at +10 and +9 respectively and pretty decent gems in each I remember for my like 49th point of skill I gain +3 for Cane and +5 for Lorig's. The reduction at 25 is only to prevent you from outscaling enemies too quickly. The reduction at 50 is to prevent people from breaking the game. The reason they dont hard cap it a 50 and leave it, is some people like the feeling they are still progress no matter now slow it may be.

Fun fact: the Blades of Mercy only do Arcane damage when you attack from a dodge or roll. The weapon makes a different sound and you can see a slight effect on the swing.

i think i might buy SOTFS tomorrow for pvp purposes :S

they need to tweak it in BB badly, then again all the from games have shitty pvp at launch so they have time
