I'm starting to believe that those who killed him with no problems on the 1st try or 2nd, were lucky or something (maybe that memory bug thing). This boss is the extreme of what I consider a unfair difficulty.

Like you said, after he enrages is where lies the problem... there it becomes almost impossible to parry, and his attacks just gains way more area of effect and do much more damage, allowing him to easily one-hit-kill at any chance. That's just ridiculous...

One tip I can give you, is if he does the move where he
jumps up
. Start running underneath and behind him. If you're not close enough to do that, then run as far away as possible. I've actually been able to dodge that move a couple times by getting behind him and if I stayed far enough away from him, it at least didn't completely drain my life when I got hit.

Sorry, edited... I've not noticed before.

Yeah, I actually can do pretty well until he reaches half HP. Then he becomes impossible to me... =/

You can stop him enraging. It has such a long windup that you can set him up for a backstab, interrupting hia buff and leaving him open for parries the remainder of the fight

I just had the
Hunter fight at the end of Eileen's storyline
literally NO HP left in the bar and then he killed me.

Like he was stuck doing his attack animation he had started even though I had killed him and that killed me.

-_-

This is how I died to
father G
the second time I fought him. Got him down to absolutely nothing in his hp bar, started celebrating and put my controller down, then he got up and smashed me. Hit me with another combo while I was down and I died. Lesson learned. Only used 3 or 4 vials the next time I fought him

So I killed
The Witch of Hemwick
and I think I'm looking for a boss in the
Forbidden Woods.
Game got kinda creepy..

I only had issues with him because I kept trying to parry when he was in 1h mode. When he's like that I'd just dodge around him and get a poke or two in.

One thing I learned was to NOT use 2h weapons on him when his gun is out after getting hit by a parry/visceral attack when he was at 20%.

Funny part is I killed him with a molotov at the end by accident.

I need help with where I should go next. I think I have 3 options:

1. Enter Byrgenwerth where I think I eventually face Rom.

2. Enter the Unseen Village and face the Darkbeast Paarl. I still need to get the nun from here as well.

3. Enter Cainhurst (already have the lamp unlocked here, but I've heard the boss here should be left until late game)

What order should I be doing these? Level 55 at the moment.

LOL this isn't real right? I mean if they did this... oh god so hilarious.

Think it was just a lucky coincidence lol. I didn't even spot it my gf did and quickly stored the recording. Gonna have to make an actual high quality looped gif from it at some point I think ready for the inevitable DLC announcement.

How much more do I have to go? Just killed
Rom the Vacuous Spider
boss.

I wanna go in the Lore thread sooo bad because I'm like wtf is going on right now D;

2, then 1, then 3.

How does 1 vs 1 PvP work? Is it possible?
Well later you can set up PVP chalice dungeons, id imagine once the comunity settles a bit we'll get some PVP dungeons up with good arenas to fight in.. Also
in Nightmare frontier a bell maiden spawns automatically and so far i havent been invaded by 2 people at once

Heh, I'm in the same part as you. I thought that was quite an easy boss for once. I just got lost in the woods and teleported back, I could've descended into some sort of dark mill but had 50k echos on my. It's a nice change of scenery though.

Think the only way it's possible is via the covenant system, but it's entirely random whether you get an opposing covenant member or just a regular invade.

Ah... Yeah, I've already killed them :(

I was thinking about what this game is missing and I just realized, hey..where the hell is Snuggly?

Not sure this is the right word, was not a fan of the VO for the bird, ever. Freaked my cats out every time she started talking...tried to cycle through her dialogue as quickly as possible.

I personally did 2 and 3 before 1. I think your level is probably fine for both, and I didn't find the boss of 3 difficult at all
especially if you can parry effectively. The boss is easily parried
. Doing 2 will also allow you to get
Tonitrus
earlier in the game if you explore the area. The area in 3 can have some difficult regular enemies, but you can also get
Evelyn
and other gear there.

If you're trying to maximise damage output is it better to start investing in skill (due to higher gains) once strength reaches softcap or better to keep investing in strength due to weapon scaling and leave skill?

Something's been bugging me.

When you take a left from the Oedon Chapel lantern there's the two clerics, past them and up some stairs is a giant. Right next to the giant is a lever that closes a gate that is already open. What's the purpose of closing this gate?

Oh, well doesnt she just respawn if you enter the area again?

Would be nice if someone set up a fight club or something. Just a bunch of people make some pvp chalice dungeon and post the chalice glyphs so we can enter and challenge people... Immense potential there

Maybe to block the Giant from descending down the stairs and ganking you? No real idea but thats my theory.

If you return to Hunter's Dream then come back, the giant will be stuck on the other side of the gate and you can run up the stairs to the central plaza unimpeded.

Barking up a storm somewhere.

Rip

I always enjoyed how she prefaced every thought with a 'BRAAAAAK!!'.

you've been killing her descendants

That would explain all the pebbles actually.

Great axe but I may change later on if I find a better weapon.
Look at the letters on each weapon to see which stats scale the best with that weapon. (S is the best, then A, B, C...)

If you like Skill and Strength i recommend Ludwig's Holy Blade. It does some serious damage and has a lot of fans here on Neogaf. :D

Hmm, think I will definitely do 2 next then. Might do 3 afterwards and see how I fare against the boss as I'm OK at parrying and if I struggle I'll then do 1 instead and revisit that fight later on.

Thanks for the advice :)

If you reload the area, the Church Giant will be stuck behind the gate and can't chase you anymore. The first time, he'll walk out and you have to run past him or face him. If you pull the lever, every time after that you won't need to (assuming it's not night time, because I think he's asleep by then).

Then can't really give you an answer. Each weapon scales differently for each stat. Axe scales poorly with skill, it's strength is better but not great.

If I stop investing in strength upon reaching softcap and start levelling skill up to softcap am I risking nerfing my character?

I don't think they do, I'm pretty sure they don't. The rate of invasions is so slow, plus most people don't want to fight and/or have a squad.

I miss the DkS2 Covenants! But yeah, Chalice Dungeons could be a good alternative if a little bit inconvenient.
