Here's another question, I am rather loving my threaded cane, is there some similar but better item I should be aiming to get early on or am I best off upgrading it as much as possible?

If you're going for a skill build, the cane can literally carry you all the way. But some other weapons to consider is like the Rifle Spear for long range thrusting and is a pretty big heavy hitter.

Use your coins!

Enjoy beeing lost <3.

There are plenty of landmarks if you actually take the time to properly study the terrain

Bonfire.
Red Light Plant.
Giant Tombstone guarded by pig.
Aliens in the river.
A big muddy pond.

After a while they all just merge together in a haze of snakes.

EDIT:

First shortcut in the woods
is directly after you engage the snake headed man on the bridge. Choose the high paths to get it
. The second is to the
left of the first pig you encounter at the river.

I got the first one, thanks I'll look for the second one- It's the
pig that is staring at the tombstone right? Not the patroling one after the muddy pond?

Fuck this 50% health penalty in Cursed Pthumerian Defilement. Layer 1 boss is cutting me up like butter. Every hit does 80% damage and that's with a 10% + 5% health boost and 4% damage reduction from runes. I have 30 VIT. She's just way too fast.

30 isn't enough. More like 50 is the sort of number where you'll be safer. Honestly the bosses that follow are going to hit way harder so you need to push that VIT up.

I know it's spoilery, but can you point me in the general direction?
uh, that is going to be tough.
let me just say this:

if you get your hands
on some flesh later in the game, you can use it there.
if you don't, it doesn't matter.
not that important if you do or not.

I thought you were only too far if you had already beaten
Rom

Which I did, and now I can only add her to the list of defeated Hunters.

You'll know for sure if you try to warp to the place Amelia was. If you can't, she's waiting for you there.
aggro'd

did you quote the wrong person?

I've been using the cane, and eventually the axe, for the pretty much the entire game. I have them both at +9 right now. A lot of people seem to really like Ludwig's Holy Blade but it never clicked for me.

Don't worry about conserving the first two types of weapon building materials--you'll get plenty of them.

since when are the axe and ludwig's holy blade simular to the cane?

Yeahhhh I have no interest in any such holy blades. I will be very happy if I can keep this cane relevant the whole game. :D

The "put back into cane mode" non-attack animation is basically the best thing ever.

Cane works fine for whole NG. I found on NG+ I need Ludwig's at least for bosses. Can is kinda bad in Chalice Dungeons (unless you dont use whip mode) because the whip hits alll the walls and pillars and random objects instead of enemies.

I found for Chalice dungeons the Schythe works alot better than the cane. The Schythe owns certain bosses.

Platinum confirmed!

Great game, best of the generation so far but not as good as Demon's or Dark Souls for me.

So I created a new character because I could not beat BSB and now I can't beat the first two bosses. That is some irony right there.

It's patroling a stream or something. The stream is perpendicular to the path you followed. Going right would take you to a root system with a rune/slow crawling enemies and another pig, going left takes you to the short cut... assuming we took the same path to get there
.

Well, I have finished this game now, and there goes some impressions:

1) Overall I think it was a little bit easier then Dark Souls 1. Yeah I almost gave up on G
ehrman
but I also almost did it on Four Kings in Dark Souls aswell.
2) The game is gold until Forbidden Woods. Then, after that, when you reach Unseen Village, I actually felt like it gave two steps back because of the implementation of some really stupid enemies and sections, to say:
The Bell Girls, the Frenzy Singer and the Cthulhu Brain-Sucker creatures
. And they, specially the 1st two I said, are constantly thrown at you after their 1st appearance.
3) Combat is amazing! The fast paced gameplay really was something that I liked. It was a very good alternative for D. Souls. So I hope we continue getting both D. Souls and Bloodborne for fast paced and slow paced gameplays, each one with its own merits.
4) Artistically this game is something special. Technically it fails a little bit since there are lots of frame-rate issues and aliasing... but honestly I could not care less for those technicall issues. The world, the enemy designs, the weapon designs! Everything was so damn good and well made! The atmosphere is oppressive and unique.
5) Weapons and armors are all great. But too little. I would like to see a much larger variety of weapons and gear, with real difference between them, with real better weapons and gears and not only different ones. Like D. Souls always had.
6) The build stats are also quite uninteresting. Yeah, I liked the fact I had not to think too much about them since I'm not having so much time to study builds anymore, but it also meant that almost everyone plays with pratically the same build. Being Vit, End and Str or Skill (depending on the favorite weapon type) the most important by far, and the rest we just upgrade the necessary to equip something... bloodtinge is pretty much useless from my experinece.
7) Where is the loading time patch? Before the game arrived I read about a patch in progress to reduce the 40 seconds loading screen. Was it released? Cause if it was I didnt notice since the loadings are still way too long. Also, the online definitely needs some improvements... I had some really hard time trying to play some co-op sections.

So overall I aggree with the high scores. The game is special, the art is unique and excelent, the gameplay is pretty damn good. But the game is not perfect by any means... it has more then a couple of problems, and it actually steps back in some D. Souls aspects. I'm not sure if that's the best game when compared to Dark Souls 1, but it defeinitely holds close overall quality! And, besides Dark Souls 1 not being perfect either it still is one of my favorite RPGs ever, and Bloodborne is on a very similar level to me.

Should I go for the true ending on 1st playthrough or just get whatever the normal one is?

true or bad on 1st playthough.
(You dont get the Schythe for the "good" ending, just make sure you "refuse", eat the umbilical cords if you want the true ending, either way you get the Schythe)

Save the "good" ending for NG+

Oh boy... I was hoping it wasn't that, thanks =)

If you get summoned while in New Game + do you automatically go to someone else also in NG+ or is it random? Probably easy to tell by boss difficulty, I'd imagine

Good luck. The layer 2 and 3 bosses can one shot you at 50 VIT.

Agreed brethren, I love my cane and im not giving it up. Pimping aint dead.

The 'true' ending and the 'normal' ending would
net you a sweet new weapon in NG+, the 'easy' ending would not.

So might as well aim for the true ending.
Is bad the easy one? Idk which one I want :\\

Alright I've beaten the game and no fucking joke the hardest boss is Cleric Beast. His health is ridiculous proportionate to damage at that point in the game and he hits so goddamn hard. Starting a new dude really is like being a child all over again here, fuck.....

should still depend on your level.

was always funny beating dark souls with a low level, then summoning people in the undead burg and then watch them getting slaughtered by the first enemies. :D

Is there a cloud save trick to see all 3 endings in one playthrough?

Upload a save to the cloud/usb stick. Beat the game and get one ending, then download the old save and repeat for the other endings. Haven't tried it myself yet, but this seems to be the way to do it.

I'm level 84 now. Guess I'll try and help people out with some bosses and level up.

I'd suggest you dump all your levels into VIT For at least 10 levels then. I'm just about to clear up the defiled chalice at level 105 and about 50 VIT. Just beaten the dreaded watchdog and I had to work out a cheesing method since he was able to OHKO me and hardly has a window to attack. Without being at least 40 VIT one of his regular attacks that is easy to be caught by will probably be a OHKO too.

Skill build all the way. I'm a Professional™.

I'm sure I will need some kind of other trick weapon to use situationally, sure.

Now I have to get good at using the cane in Chalice Dungeons just to spite you.

that's whats up.

Do I really have to do the Defiled Chalice for reaching the Chalice Last Boss?

This place is bullshit.

You have to get the drop from the level 3 boss to get the chalice where the last chalice boss is, so yeah. -_-

I'll pump all my echoes into VIT until I reach level 100 at least then.

Yup, need to get through there for the next chalice.

And if you were like me even after the defiled chalice, you'll need more items to even make it.

Got invaded for the third time in
Nightmare Mensis
near the top. It was a quick fight but a good one, a bit laggy though. I got him down pretty easy with my Holy Blade then he ran off and tried to heal so I blasted him with my cannon and killed him lol

After that I found the (hideous) Bell Maiden and put it down. No more invasions. They were fun when they lasted but I'm not really a PVP guy. I'd rather be able to explore carefree. Or at least as carefree as you can get in this game. This place is terrifying.

7) Where is the loading time patch? Before the game arrived I read about a patch in progress to reduce the 40 seconds loading screen. Was it released?

I dont think there will be a loading patch, and if there is it wont help much. If it were a glitch or something I could see it being improved but a few things I noticed lead me to believe it is caused by the design of the world.

In zones that are not connect to other areas the loading times are fine, less than 10s for Lecture hall, maybe 15-20s for the nighmare regions.

The 2 worst lamp post from my experiance are the Central Yarnem and Old Yarnem lamps and I think I understand why. From those 2 lamps you have multiple paths to chose. From Central Yarnem you could be in the Forgotten Woods in less than a minute the game.

I think the game is set up to load specific areas from each lamp. Places where you could go from that lamp. I think it tracks your movement and loads in new regions.

The only way they could reduce this would be to reduce shortcuts (like remove the path between Woods and Central Yarnem). The game uses ladders to help hide the background loading.

Yesterday I was intending to go to the Cathedral Ward lamp use the elevator and go to the workshop area. I accidently went to central yarnem. I decided just to run there. The game did not see this and I out ran the load in. (who would go to central yarnem is they intended on uses the elevator in the cathedral ward). When I reached the elevator Nothing was loaded. I could see the button but the shaft, the bridge and the tower were not there, after about 10s they loaded in and I continued.

Had I used the Cathedral World lamp this area would have loaded in during the loading screen because it would be logical for a person to explore that area from there. I think the game plays it safe with loading screens and that is why they are so long. Like I think it loads that area even if you go to the Grand Cathedral Lamp. Old Yarnem has a ladder heading back that direction so as you climb the ladder I think it starts loading areas of the cathedral ward in a preprogrammed sequence.

Yeah, you can use the USB trick

yo fam there is. Upload your save, do an ending. Quit the game, download that save, do another ending. Repeat 3 times innit blud.
Many thanks. 💘

What the fuck is with this hunter npc in Byrgenworth? He keeps one shotting me with his glowy shit or three shotting me with his cane? Goddamn!

Bro use your environment to your advantage. There should be a desk or something at the bottom of the stairs, use that to give you and him some distance...

I'm currently stuck at the final boss and taking a step back from the game for the rest of the day. I lost all my echoes and sold a bunch of stuff just to buy more blood vials and bullets for repeated attempts and now I'm at my wits end.

Looking back, its been a fun game. I think there's a lot of memorable parts for sure. I was considering selling the game, but I think I might actually keep it as I may want to revisit some places one day. I definitely want to fight some of the bosses again.

Overall I know I definitely prefer Dark Souls 2, then Demon's Souls, then Bloodborne, then Dark Souls 1. I wish the transforming weapons would come to Dark Souls 3 because they are one of the best things about Bloodborne! Cane wielders unite! I used that thing through the entire game and am using it against the last boss. I occasionally used the Kirkhammer for fun and one-shot kills, but otherwise its been all Cane, baby!

BTW, the snowy area of the game was by far my favorite. Its brilliant and the boss there was really fun. I LOVED the cinematic opening for that fight and even the run up to that point where you just KNEW you were headed for the boss. Great stuff.

Fuck it. I have 1391 HP (695 inside this shithole) and even the first boss sometimes he oneshots me.

Cutting your HP in half is plain bullshit IMO. Atleast leave this chalice optional ._.

Oh well, time to become the god of dodge...
