What determines her Agro-Ness?
If
you open the door to her office before killing Rom, she warns you and tells you to look the other way. At this point, you have the option of turning around and coming back to get the umbilical cord after killing rom or walking up the steps before you. Doing the latter immediately leads to her getting aggro'ed. Doing the former, you don't aggro her.

I really think this is an extraordinarily bad way of fighting BSB if you're already having a hard time with him.

In my opinion the safest way is to simply to try and stay close on his sides at all times and whale away on him, ideally with a fire buff on your weapon. Stay at most at mid-range to him, and avoid facing him head on at all costs as although it allows you to parry his swipe it also opens you up to his strongest attacks (grab, and dashing swipe).

If you need to heal roll away and hide behind a pillar, then go back to smacking his sides. He will fall, easily if you do this.

This is the way to do it. Add in the Black Church Set and you can continue to stay close to him even when he spews poison like a fountain.

I just saw the sixth video of ENBs playthrough:

How on earth should it be possible to find the lost hubworld without YouTube?

Try to fight the new bad guy,
realize that they are holy fucking shit tough, and then die
. The same way I found out :)

The second layer defiled chalice boss is wrecking me. Anyone have any tips?

Get him to about halfway by hitting him on the nose with a long weapon then dodging. Once he's about halfway you can bait his attacks until he does the lava vomit. When he does, punish him with a full charged heavy to the legs and chase it up with another if he goes down, after get out of there and bait the move out of him again. You can cheese him this way but I found he wouldn't reliably repeat the lava move without losing at least a third of his hp.

Grinding for chalice materials is fucking awful. I'm about to drop this.

Haven't attempted chalice dungeon stuff yet, probably won't. I'm assuming you need one of each item to return after each time you die?

Yeah, grinding for more Blood Vials after lots of co-oping was boring and bad enough, let alone something like that.

To be fair a door is plainly visible - it's not totally outlandish to try and get down there.

That said I had to look it up too. That said finding the key to the Upper Cathedral Ward is a lot more obscure.

I finally took down BSB, thanks to some skilled support! I failed against this boss so many times! Amelia is next, hopefully.

Couple of questions:
I once found and fought a tentacle face guy in Yarnham but I've since completely lost my way to that route. I get lost so easily! Any tips on how to get there?

I have the second door to the cathedral open, but still can't find the Doll clothes. Any tips?

I saw a door as I was falling down and was like "oh make a note to come back to that door"

Yeah, there's secrets far more obscure than that. I missed a lot before looking anything up but managed to find that. It reminded me of the shortcut to flamelurker in Demon's Souls. I figured something would be down there.

Phase 1- Stay back out of range, wait for her to swipe 2 times she will lower her head for 3-5 seconds sprint in get 1 L2 with Ludwigs or R2 with Axe and dodge like crazy back out of range. And wait until she provides that opening again. At some point you will get an oportunity for a visceral attack dont miss it (It may come it phase 2 depending on your weapon)

Phase 2- Same stay back. Her arms will turn purple and glow when she does this dodge back at a 45 degree angle as soon as she hits the ground you a good 5 second window to do a R2 attack on her head. Again roll like crazy back once you get 1 hit in.

Phase 3- When she breaks of a set of limbs get behind her asap. Standing right under her tail and hit it. She will jump away from you. IMMEDIATELY get in the same spot and keep chipping away at the tail. It will take a while but I dont see how you can die on this phase unless you get overzealous.

A key thing to remember is you may need to change positions in Phase 1 and 2 if she walks to close to you (when you are in range at the back wall you need to switch sides. I always did this by sprinting left and being prepared to roll if she tried to swipe me.

Obviously you need to dodge the laser. If he jumps on you early roll through him (under his tail is always safe to heal) and not away. You should be able to survive getting pounced at full health but you might not be able to survive getting pounced and an arm swipe.

I pretty much do the first two phases like that but it's rare for me to even get to the third let alone try a suicide tactic like that :p

No, once you unlock a Chalice dungeon you can re-enter it without limit (and in fact, enter other player's dungeons of the same type at no cost). The problem is there are, quite frankly, five or six completely superfluous "grinding" dungeons you have to complete before you get to the "meat" of the Chalice content (unique bosses), so there's a dreadfully tedious lull in the middle of it.

I would say: keep in mind you can buy some materials with Insight. Probably not as much as you're going to need, but if you can save yourself even one extraneous dungeon run for materials farming that way, more the better.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Sorry I didn't see them until now... my work filter doesn't like this thread much, and page 39 is completely inaccessible for some reason :-/ Finally read it on my phone.

So durability exists but it isn't displayed on screen eh? Is it automatically repaired if you go back to the Dream before a weapon is broken? Wiki doesn't seem to be fleshed out on this detail yet :P

I didn't know about visceral attacks at all. I was a huge riposte freak in the other games so I assume this is to be my bread and butter. Thanks for the info, will have to get good at this ASAP.

Hmm or maybe i'll just get my money back. :D

when's sword skool for Ludwig users class start?

Haven't played that much of them, but Chalice Dungeons seem still fine to me. Am in my third or fourth one now. It feels basically like an third person (as in... not top-down) Diablo game. The environments could be more varied, though I'm still at the beginning, so no idea how much they changed it up.

The blood vial farming should be removed. Just give everyone 20 charges when you die, it makes no difference to the game it only removes the boring farming aspect.

But you need to find that door to use
magic
, right?

Actually I saw that door before getting to the bottom and made sure to get to it first. Just kept trying to make a jump to it for quite a bit of time.

what is the best blood echo farm spot right now? Going to need a lot to buy all weapons for the trophy

I like Mergo's loft middle. If you take the stairs to the top it's worth 50 k with moon and even more if you get the other moon rune. Also you can turn the pigs and katana guys against each other if you bait them. Take a bunch of hunters marks for a few hundred thousand in 20 minutes or so. It's also filled with blood vials so handy for that too.

Maybe not the most efficient against chalices but the vial drops can be a great addition of you're doing bosses along the way.

Total newb here with some questions if someone doesn't mind. I posted this in the thread for newcomers but this may be a better place to ask.

I have beaten the witches and VA easily enough, had a go at the forest but it seems really hard (I'm level 38 I think). I have 31 insight, should I spend some to make things easier on myself?

I got the Item to open the door to the right of the cathedral, is it worth going back. Also is there a way to open the door at the top of Odeon Cathedral?

Can I get through the game without doing chalice dungeons and/or multiplayer?

Also I don't suppose anyone can point me towards a non-spoilery guide to the lore? I know the series is known for it's minimalist plots, but I haven't a clue what's going on.
Forest can be tricky. I don't remember what level I was through that. I almost always spent myself down to 10 Insight. I didn't know it was tied to difficulty, but I was certain some enemy would come along that I would hate. I liked using Fire/Bolt paper so win/win.

Yes, you should visit that area. I highly recommend being a higher level though. Highly. The door on top of Odeon is also much later in the game. This is a vague, but specific hint
When you see a laser the key is nearby ;]
.

Yes, you don't have to do multiplayer* or chalice dungeons. However, most of my favorite boss encounters are in the chalice dungeons. If that interests you then you may want to check it out. *EDIT
In certain areas a bell ringing maiden will leave your game open to invasion. Don't worry too much about it if someone joins your game and kills you.

For lore I would suggest looking up a specific subject on a wiki. For example; Father G. Keep in mind that even after beating the game our Lore thread is full of speculation.

Have fun!

The door, notes and bloodstains gave it away.

I ended up using an Isz Chalice Layer 4 for farming vials/bullets. The game decided for whatever reason to create a big open room with about twenty of the adorable and harmless baby aliens and a few werewolves in it. Takes a minute or so to clean out, probably 120k echoes and somewhere between 3-12 blood vials and 10-30 bullets a go. The room is straight off the lantern, too.

i accrued over 200k in this area because the damn pigs killed me a bunch of times

another tip for farming blood vials is the rune that increases enemy drops. i feel like every enemy was dropping vials and/or bullets. so much so that maxed out storage for both just running around hemlock looking for the
carriage to cainhurst

Those type of encounters are surprisingly common with Isz Root Chalices, I had the same situation come up multiple times for my farming pleasure.

I'd say Mensis itself. Though that's later on in the level when you reach the top part. You can get 75k echoes easily. Lecture Hall is pretty good.

I'm level 73. Is that plent high enough to tackle Mensis?

Maybe I should go back and do the Chalices. I only did the first two levels of the first one.

time to join the hunt! and get raped in the butt

they don't always take you from behind :(

So basically typical souls ng+

It's why I never cared for it in any of them. Never went past ng+ except in dark souls 2 for the covenant spells.

I'm usually not a fan either, and always prefer to make a new character over doing NG+, but this time
the weapon I wanted was NG+ only, so I don't really have a choice if I want to use it.

After beating it, I'll get to Nightmare Frontier on NG+2 just to PVP and create a new character for PVE.

what other secret?

and problem is, you can go down there just fine.
but getting to that door..

I tried jumping to the door from further down but could reach the platform.

Sooooo bad. Biggest fuck up with this game. I almost quit when i thought i had to open more dungeons for 2 more red jelly to play the final chalice. Thankfully I was on ng plus was able to avoid that. Still need more ritual blood 5.
