Gotta love getting all the way through the chalices only to realize that the only way you can get to the last one is an item from nightmare of mensis. Get to restore my save and start chalices over lol.

Just made it to
The One Reborn
in Unseen Village

Fuck me. I'm not even sure how you are supposed to hit the damn thing consistently. I got like a 5 or 6 hits on him, but used up almost all of my blood vials in the process.

If only I had a bow!
He was one of the easier fights for me. Just attack his sides
where the little legs are sticking out
. Back out to regain stamina or heal and repeat until dead.

Seriously, fuck Rom. How is that good boss design? How was this considered good enough to make it out of testing? Who could possibly have fun facing off against this shit?

Never EVER use a lock on on this fight. Wear Arcane Resist gear. And I always kill all his spiders first, and just roll roll roll randomly when he summons that icicle shower.

I thought he's a pretty easy boss overall, though perhaps a certain degree of luck is required.

Clear the fireball throwers above.

hang out near his back leg (but out of range from its stomp). Run in and smack it around when you think you have a shot. Double roll back out. When you see red light about you start rolling and roll try to end up back at the spot you are fighting.

He rotates alot so you must stay at like a 45 degree(behind him) angle from his back leg. He is super easy if you use this tactic. You will still use a few vials because of the random shit (litterally shit).

Fuck it. I have 1391 HP (695 inside this shithole) and even the first boss sometimes he oneshots me.

Cutting your HP in half is plain bullshit IMO. Atleast leave this chalice optional ._.

Oh well, time to become the god of dodge...

Don't worry
The second boss is harder

is a pretty cool & fun boss. Fun to have something that is different. Though guy was kinda easy. Also... REALLY REALLY wish he would shut the fuck up... I heard your quote 10 times, don't need to hear it 10 more times....

so whats the gaf consensus better, slightly worse or equal to dark souls ?

the majority of people like it just as much.

I feel that the combat is more fun but the lack of variation and the arguable fuck up of the multiplayer system is a huge negative. Some of the levels were a drag and I found myself liking level designs of Dark Souls more.

Also I prefer knight fantasy horror over this more modern horror. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. So about the same score as DS2, but DS1 still is ranked higher.

It was my favorite Souls game, but chalice dungeons have dropped it from that. Now that I have to restore my save and go back and start chalice dungeons over it has dropped considerably to the point I don't even know if I like the fucking game anymore.

I'm looking to level up a second weapon; been with the cane since the get go but it's maxed and I want to try something new. Right now I'm looking at either the Ludwig sword or Blades of Mercy but I've heard good things about both. Any opinions on the matter?

i would assume you have points largely in skill so go with blades. But if you're gonna do NG+ then wait because
the endgame scythe is a skill weapon

I'm confused. I started a new character that is gonna be bloodtinge character and I picked blunderbuss as opening weapon but after cleric beast when I go to upgrade. I put 5 levels in bloodtinge (from 7-12) but only defense increases and not gun damage. Am I missing something here? I thought bloodtinge increased gun damage? Any help?

ya easist boss in the game. I accidently stumbled on him 1st time through with only 6 vials left and 90k echos.... man was I worried... I think I used maybe 1 vial. Little just spammed Ludwig R1 on him with him trapped in a corner both phases.

not sure I really understand Chalice dungeons. From this guide I am reading, there are unique weapons and items that I have to get from them, but at the same time they are randomly generated? Do the items always show up? Or do I have to finish one, leave, come back, and do it all over again for a chance to get said items?

OK, I'm stuck. I just killed the
Witch of Hemwick
, is there somewhere to go from here, or an alternate path from the previous lantern? I've just been doing chalice dungeons while I'm stuck but I really want to keep progressing tonight.

That boss was very, very easy.

I'm pretty convinced, in the middle of my second playthrough that LudWigs is the best weapon in the game, provided you have the Strength and Skill to scale it well. The weapon has monstrous stun (twohanded) unlike any other weapon in the game and it's versatile too since it's fast one handed and has a great moveset. I'd go as far to say that no other weapon really comes close.

Did you fight AV in the big door just before you took a left to go to the witches starting area?

Those boulder throwing assholes can kiss my ass. Seriously. Oh, you are walking slow in poison swamp? OK, here are some dicks to throw rocks at you and one shot you.

My favorite of the series. My ranking is BB > DeS > DkS1 >>> DkS2.

Fantastic enemy design, level design and great combat. Plus, the game is essentially tailored to my playstyle in the old Souls game (which were dex based). And the atmosphere, my god.

50+ attempts and I can even consistently get 50% damage against this goddamn optional boss.

I've gone hollow for the evening.

I bet I get it in under ten tries tomorrow.

Edit: the lack of an audible tell for the explosive AoE is unforgivable for a boss that is impossible to reliably see on screen due to enormous size. I have never, ever felt a boss in a Souls game was unfair in the way this boss is. Nothing even close.

So I guess trying to get someone into my chalice dungeon is basically impossible huh. Glad it takes my insight every time for the esoteric "well nobody answered your call!" reason >:[

Tried making it public and everything. Nothing works. It's unclear if it's actually working or not, and it takes your insight regardless ;-; I guess I will just resort to coop for story bosses.

Haha lots of different opinions on the matter. My skill is 50 and strength is in the 30's. I also keep reading about uncanny and lost versions of the weapons so I'm not sure about that either.

Sorry guys but I didn't have time to ask help.

Killed Darkbeast Paarl in first try without take any damage... what a easy boss.

I guess it was less than one minute battle... just R1 with sword... I used dodge but I guess I didn't need because he couldn't hit me so I start to just hit his legs lol

You know, I don't get much time to play this during the week, and seeing so many people on NG plus, or having finished all the chalice dungeons makes me feel like I'm behind the curve.

Then I check my trophy list and see that getting to
the witches
is still a "rare" trophy, and only 20 percent or so of players have even made it to Cainhurst, annnd suddenly I don't feel so bad.

kill the enemies around, use shock/lightning weapon, and do as many charged attacks as you can. The windows are decently open. You only ever really have to dodge like crazy when he starts spamming the
teleportation guts
move.

Thanks! I'll give it a go tomorrow. I've played enough for tonight.

Cainhurst is super hidden though, so I wouldn't be surprised if that trophy remains really low percentage wise.

Speaking of trophies, I'm still super impressed that near 70% of the player base has beaten Father G. Like, that's legit impressive stuff.

If you killed VA, you already have the
password to open the door requiring it.
I was also stuck at that point in the game, until someone here told me that I already had it.

Ok.. What enemies are kin? Just got a new gem that gives me physical atk + 21.6% but atk vs kin down -9.3% (Cursed Tempering Damp Blood Gem (4))

Made it all the way to the boss in Cainhurst castle without dying. Pretty rare for me, but I may be over leveled for this area. (Still a great area, though.)

I have Ludwig's. And apparently the only weapon that ever gives it a run for its money is the chikage, but you need to have a buttload of points into bloodtinge for that to take into effect and the weapon as the downside of
draining HP
in 2-H mode. It's slow sure, but it ain't worth it imho.

So yeah. As a quality build I have Ludwig's for 99% of the time and I have my wheel for whenever I feel like being a motorcycle bro revving my engine, and enemies are weak to blunt. lol

Fair enough. I had to look up how to access it myself. I passed the path through the lost woods a couple dozen times and never saw it.

That other boss though? No excuse. They're optional but it takes effort not to wander into them.

Reitersplatch or whatever its called is actually a very satisfying weapon. You can fire a shot with a tap of r2 so you can be in the middle of a swing and mix in shot after shot to keep the pressure up and try to trigger a parry at the same time. I need to upgrade it some more

Seriously, fuck Rom. How is that good boss design? How was this considered good enough to make it out of testing? Who could possibly have fun facing off against this shit?

Rom is probably my favourite boss ATM. First of all its a unique fight. Secondly its very possible to not get hit in the entire fight if you are skillful enough. If you don't get greedy you can ignore the spiders and get a hit in before his AoE blast. Rinse and repeat. Dodging the arcane bolts is a simple matter of moving out the way lol.

I got Tonitrus.

It is a good weapon to level up? It have bolt elemental.

I'm using the Axe and Ludwig's Holy Blade... both +7.

I am doing a skill/arcane build and the blades of mercy seems very weak, even more so than the cane. Currently, lvl40 with both +6. It might be good on trash mobs where you can continue to swing 5-6 times to make up for the damage, but on bosses, you luck getting that many hits in before getting your ass handed. Am I doing something? As for the holy sword, it was good.
