R
om
was... Surprisingly easy.
Separate spiders, hack their backs one hit at a time, keep distance from Rom. Bolt paper, hack his sides, watch out for the very telegraphed sporadic attacks. Always keep enough stamina for 2 dodges, as that is enough to escape any of his area attacks, which are extremely easy to read; time for the sky icicles, watch ground for the ground ones, watch his glow for the explosion.
Ludwig's 2 hand mode is perfect for him.

Nuts, yeah i think that's just too high. Ill try him again myself... Any tips?

I don't find him very difficult, just annoying af. Second stage has some frustrating moves.
I just avoided the small spiders and go for the boss from the sides... another GAF helped me but I was one hit to kill him solo with lvl 66.

Little spider are stupid, they take their time to attack and they tend to make an opening for you to come through, I've never attacked a single little spider, just go at normal speed right to Rom and make a jump if one spider is about to attack, once you're at the body of Rom do a full combo until he lose 30% of his life and leaves.

Repeat except that you might start to roll when he throws his magic.

The Defiled Chalice is some tough shit, haha. Thought
the game was glitching when my health got cut in half.

Been stuck at
Watch Dog of the Old Lords
for while too. Feels like the strategy is pretty straight forward, with dodge, hit, dodge, but man, I cannot execute at all especially when it does it's charge attack and kills me, no matter how much health I got.

Then
Amygdala
is up next in the next layer? Ah man, I dunno if can get past this, hah. Does anyone know if the Lake rune (DMG reduction %) would really help?

If you have it you may as well use it. Also there's a trick to avoiding his charge, keep circling around him as you make the pushes back and forth to bait him and you should stay out of reach a lot better. Once he gets angry bait the lava spew and punish it but keep clear otherwise. After about a third he will add new attacks so you need to be able to identify the differences to beat the second third since you can't get a hit in without getting hot back with those particular attacks.

Next boss can be cheesed easily.

Thanks for the tips.

Im using Axe +6. only got 1 bolt paper left. Probably a bad idea to go again, but hey, only got 900 echs :p

I never found ludvig's blade! Do you have to kill him or it or is it a chalice thing?

Man
Undead Giant
hits like an absolute TRUCK. Beat him but felt like quite a difficulty spike compared to the boss of the previous layer.

3) Just about everything is some degree of obtuse, esoteric, confusing or even impenetrable without some outside assistance. When you run into a situation where you're sure you should be doing something but aren't quite sure what, or know that you need to know how something works to do what you want but it hasn't been explained to you, you might have the instinct to come here and ask about it outright. Follow that instinct. These games are largely designed to force you into some form of community involvement for answers, guidance and clarification.

I feel this is a perfect description the optional stuff in the game (areas/items as well as lore). I would say the main quest is pretty straightforward if you're a little curious and willing to explore. And blind runs are the most rewarding in my opinion. Do as much as you can figure out the first play-through, and then spoil yourself and find out what you missed during NG+.

You can buy it from the Messenger after
find the badge on the top of Cathedral Ward... after kill Bsb a door will open at left of the Cathedral Ward's lamp

Wanna know how to kill Darkbeast Paarl in 10 seconds?

Flamesprayer + Bone Marrow Ash
= lmfao

I can't fucking believe it. I annhilated him. No effort at all. And this was in co-op with his hp boosted.
The Flamesprayer will keep him in almost constant stunlock and keep knocking off his electricity.

My most hated encounter in the game, the hardest boss for me by far. Reduced to nothing.

It's
at the top of the healing workshop tower or whatever it's called.

same works for Rom.

where are you stuck ? first boss is easy, just parry. second boss, you need to be patient. third boss is very easy as well, keep your distance and hit its hands.

Thanks for the vid! Yeah I guess I need more patience. Damn dude is even lower than me, feels bad lol I have lower HP though, and I don't want to level anymore (120 already!) Maybe I'll try to find that best HP rune...

An idea for next OT:

Oh FFS, had Amelia at 10% in first encounter with her in my NG+ run until she for some reason kept smacking the shit out of me while I couldn't do anything about it.

That should be a high enough level. The first time I got too close and he one shot'ed me. The second time I would run in and hit him with a big R2 attack and then run away from all the enemies. I would the regroup and go again. I never once tried to kill one of the smaller enemies and focused just on him. It was pretty quick and easy. All the attacks can be dodged easily.

Lvl?
Edit: I'll get on my lvl60.

Sorry bud - just beat the vacuous shite!

Thanks for the tips all - the weak spider abdomens and weak flank were gamechangers. I still ran out of vials (for the first time ever) due to the dang overhead homing crystals

That's so easy to miss - ta!

I totally get where you're coming from, but I also think series veterans take some basic things for granted that seem par for the course, but could be incredibly opaque to brand new players. Hell, preconceptions from the other games can even kind of misinform; I basically completely missed out on how visceral attacks functioned until asking here about it because I thought some form of parry/riposte/backstab still existed.

Blind runs are the most rewarding for sure, and especially for people who are comfortable with the idea of missing things that might be there just because they simply didn't find them in their own exploration (I'm completely okay with this, but it's been one of the most common complaints about the game I've seen so far). I just don't want a new player to get discouraged if they run into a scenario in which they really don't know how to advance, or misunderstand entire mechanics; I guess the real thrust of my advice was, when you're there (stuck), don't run to a guide- come here and ask for a hint. Having a community to ask about things, and sort of control your own degree of spoilerization, really enhances the experience for me.

here's how I did the dog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGSBLbUmREs
use the fire damage reduction rune and two HP ones.
next boss is waaaaay easier, don't worry.

Appreciate the tips, guys. That strategy looks hella lot more safe and provides more room for me to read and dodge than the one I was trying to do but with Ludwig's greatsword form. Will try to apply these when I jump back on BB.

Also definitely glad to hear the next boss will be easier, haha.

Damn I wish this game had an enemy model viewer that unlocked once you beat it.

So many amazing designs throughout the game and many times it's either too dark/dim, or there is too much action going on to really appreciate the enemies/bosses detail fully.

I would kill for this.

BB needs an artbook. The CE booklet doesn't count.

Even though I love this game. It's going to suck having to go through a new game plus just to get at least
three umbilical cords
. The life of a trophy hunter

BLB makes me wanna cry...literally
Great Pthumeru?
Stay close to him and try to dodge so you are always behind him. Hit him from there and just be careful when he stomps.
Being far away from him isn't smart, especially in his second phase which is deadly and poisonous.

Oh fuck you F
orbidden
W
oods
, fuck you.

First major blood echo-loss of the game thanks to a combination of
the first snake-headed man
and
being one-shotted (the *actual* definition of one-shotted) by the radial damage from that cannon
when going back to try and recover them.

In frustration, I looked at a map and the shortcut to the first lamp is practically next door to
snake-head man
. For fuck's sake.

Just going to olympic-sprint it back through the area tomorrow. Not got anything to lose now :/

Where are the possible Tonsil Stone locations

I usually get it
in Hemwick

Alfred wasn't any helb either agains BSB.
he did like 30 damage with his kirk hammer.

Given you defeated VA and entered Forbidden Woods, tonsil stone will be available at any door with NPC that has red lantern in the front.
