help with chalice dungeon boss
Watch Dog of The Old Lords

Oh boy, that was a fun one.
Stay in front the whole time. Learn his move set. If you stay in front and take your time he will never hit you. Just stay moving back and lure him into lunging with his head. Back up enough so he misses, run in and get a hit. Repeat until dead. Was roughly 20 minute fight. Longest boss fight of the game so far for me.

Fuck I had to retreat from the Ihyll
Bloodletting Beast.
This dude is scary as fuck. I barely did any damage and his weak spot is now gone. What am I supposed to do?

Did the LOD system glitch or something in the
altar of despair/ebrietas
area? The water texture is like 320x320 pixels.

Man, the
Blood-starved Beast
is just absolutely impossible to me. I don't think I've had this much trouble with a fight since Artorias in Dark Souls. I've been stuck here for three nights in a row now and I've not made an inch of progress. The first two-thirds of his health are easy as hell, just no problem at all, but when he gets in to that final part, I just have zero chance to even hit him once. I've used the summon outside the gate, but he's no help. I don't have PS+ and I'm not gonna get it (waste of money imo), so summoning is out of the question. The constant grinding for blood vials don't really help making this a fun fight for me. I miss Estus Flasks, at least they had the decency to refill after you died.

Oh well, I'm giving up for now, gonna waste another night tomorrow...

I'll try to help you as best I can with the last phase.

Once it starts BSB usually backs up and tries to charge an AoE blast of poison. This has a long charge time and if you are close enough when it begins, you can hit a charged R2 from behind and open it up for a free Visceral Attack. This attack will continue to occur in the final phase so if you see it and you're close enough, get the free damage.

It also likes to do this multi-swipe thing that you can do multiple quick steps left to avoid. Afterward you can hit it before it jumps away. It normally like to go in a pattern of one attack string, back up, big clothesline move, repeat with the charge up poison mixed in. Pungent Blood Cocktails will buy you free hits as it will go after the spot for a couple of swipes. Fire Paper and Molotovs work very well.

Hopefully that helps, good luck.

???

It shouldn't be shooting through the statues. They're put there for cover.
And yet, here we are. Also just had one of those gremlin dudes fall into the ground and start walking around while attacking me...............inside the ground.

Everyone is telling me
Ebrietas
is an easy boss but I spent like 20 minutes on one fight with her and lost when she had about 10% health left. Strategy? I was told to just bum rush her and keep moving to get behind her but her
laser
is a one shot KO.

I've encountered Rom yesterday, and after a few attempts I defeated. He was a little tricky at first, but once you had an idea of his attack patterns it was a straight forward fight. I found the hunter before to be a lot more challenging.

Really love this game,

If she lasers just run. It'll be 3 volleys.

She was the first real wall for me. I don't think the general consensus is she is easy. The wiki is full of comments about being stuck at her or needing help lol. Maybe if you abuse the memory boss bug and cut down her moves.

It's very easy to get 1 hit ko'd, or a combo leading to death.

I'm bored so I decided I'd rank the game's main bosses in difficulty (excluding Chalice bosses):

For me:

16.
Father Gascoigne
15.
Blood-Starved Beast
14.
The One Reborn
13.
Micolash, Host of the Nightmare
12.
Celestial Emmisary
11.
Cleric Beast
10.
Vicar Amelia
9.
The Witch of Hemwick
8.
Shadow of Yarnham
7.
Mergo's Wet Nurse
6.
Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
5.
Martyr Logarius
4.
Darkbeast Paarl
3.
Amygdala
2.
Rom, the Vacuous Spider
1.
Gehrman

I didn't do M
oon
P
resence
yet.

This was a hard list to make, because some bosses that I had a really hard time with originally, like Rom, I later found to be much easier when I figured out how to not get one-hit-killed. I can tell there's going to be people that disagree with this list, since some of the easiest bosses for me were ones that many people seem to be having a hard time with.

one shot KO.

I don't consider her easy. Sometimes you just get lucky and she's not as aggressive.

As for the
laser
, unlock the camera from her, and just start sprinting.

In the end, I just stayed in front of her and tried to bait out the head-slam, and shot her in the head trying to cause an opening for a visceral attack.

Staying unlocked on the fight helps. Only time I locked on was to fire at her head to stagger.

FUCK! Had A
mygdala
below 50%, was running low on vials when I got too close for a head shot and ate a dormant laser explosion that killed me. I was doing so well for my first encounter with her, too. Headed back to the dream to re-up, then I'll take another shot at her. I haven't beaten
Rom
yet, so am I doing this in the right order?

Yeah that looked weirdly bad for me too. A lot of the water in this game has a rainbow effect in it too that makes me think it's oil.

I've helped a lot of people defeat this boss in coop and that's exactly how I fought her. There were 2 times where I missed the cue that she was doing the
laser
attack and died. She doesn't normally do that move if you're close, I think...

Spent last night just running around basically. Eventually found the Forbidden Woods thanks to some help here, and encountered my first
snake man
. R2 Forward with Kirkhammer is so OP. Made a decision on my build, gonna go Strength with Kirkhammer, and Arcane with Tonitrus. I'm only near
Rom
, but 15 endurance hasn't been a problem at all with my play style.

Had to system exit, when a a really easy enemy knocked me off a ledge, and I lost 70k echoes...

The best deaths are being kicked off ledges by enemies lol.

Defiled chalice is done, a lot easier than I expected, only died about 3 times to bosses.

Onto the last one for my first platinum ever!

Pretty pumped for lore reasons.

Just had a sub 3 hours run wooooooo

30 minutes wasted in Forbidden Woods at the boss skip, gotta understand that shit at some point

Game gets easier towards the end it seems by a lot.

I felt it was hard at 1st because I was new to it, then it got pretty easy by the time I was in the sewers through old yarnem, cathedral has a few rough sections, I though Hemlock and Woods were pretty tame, Brygenworth has hard enemies but not many of them, and then I hit unseen village.... so to me the last 2 zones (with lecture hall being a nice break in between them) we by far the hardest. I dont understand how some people feel the game gets easier.

The bosses? I can see that except the final boss.
Rom - The One Reborn - Micolash - Mergo were not bad at all, while Father G, BSB and VA game me issues at 1st.

Just started a new game with a brand new character and went with the axe.

This weapon is OP AS FUCK. The extended axe r2 charge wrecks everything! Jesus...

PLATINUM GET. Final boss there was easy. First try lol

Congrats! Still waiting to do the Lyhl. I have it open but can't get at my PS4 for a while. Quick question, how would you stack up the difficulty of Lhyl against Defiled? I know you still have a good lead on me in levels so I'm debating a quick grind before starting or just going head on in to end it. I just want out of these dungeons :(

On a plus note they have helped me realize that should Deep Down ever happen, I don't want it.

I never used anything else. Leveled a bunch to high levels, but nothing compared to it.

People say the Ludvig's is the bomb more so, but I just don't see it. Axe is faster, hits more, and has a fantastic combo from 1 hand to go into 2 hand with R1 L1 R1.

Game goes easy mode with Axe.

I'm not done with the chalices yet, but I think Bloodborne is going to be my first Platinum ever too! I usually don't care about trophies/achievements, but this game is so good that I actually want to complete everything to get the Platinum.

Tonitrus is pretty ridiculous as well.

I'm right before Ebrietas. How do I avoid the elevator glitch?

Believe you make sure to send the elevator up before fighting the boss.

Alright, minigun guy + Saw Spear Hunter guy in Old Yharnum is just horrible. I managed to jump my way down to the Rifle Spear room, but what's the "real" method for getting through them?

haha, I feel you!

It's def. one of the best games ever made for me. Top 10 for sure.

Things left to do:

1)Great Pthumerian Chalice
2) Finish NG+++ for last two blood rocks
3) Start new skill/arc only PvP char.

So much left to do :P

This is interesting because i did pretty much everything different.
It wasn't a hard fight for me either, though i could live through a charge attack which I'm guessing is the problem? I waited for any attack then dashed to his side for a flurry of cleaver attacks then he would pivot and i would repeat. PUNISH him when he barfs, it's free damage.

Run straight forward from where the minigun guy starts firing until you reach the ladder to the minigun tower. Ignore the Saw Spear guy, he won't follow you up the ladder.
