Any strategies for
Gherman
? I know I need to parry him to get some visceral attacks for the most lethal hits but his moves are really unpredictable and when I get him to under 40%, he goes airborne and kills me. I am using a +8 Ludwig. I also have a +8 Cleaver.

Blood vial system promotes farming, which is boring and not fun. It in no way promotes getting "gud" when the pacing of the game and your attempts are brought to a screeching halt because you gotta go back and farm a low level area for 15 minutes. Also, the inherent nature of improving yourself by very definition means you're not doing something right to begin with, thus the need for improvement. Ultimately it is a worse system than Estus flasks, which is better suited to allow people to stay in their groove and on point to defeat a boss or area. And it's not as if chugging Estus wins the game' you're still a stationary target, whereas in bloodborne u have a bit of movement which actually makes healing a bit easier in that regard.

That said, the new attack to get health back is good and adds a certain risk reward element to health. I say this is the thing to keep from this game going forward for sure, but ditch the blood vials, bring back estus.

Never had to farm vials. If you do I suspect you're just using them too frequently.

I did it without parrying, just dodge and wait for an opening and punish with an L2. Take your time and don't get greedy.

you can cheese him forcing him to do the same attack over and over,if you get close to him and back off he'll do the attack behind his head and you can make him repeat it for the whole fight.

I got my platinum just now as well...and I honestly LOVED the higher level chalice dungeons. They strip the game down to a pure dungeon crawler, and really are a blast.

Well, unfortunately. I think that's the problem for me. I don't like pure dungeon crawlers that much. I have the same problem with Diablo, or say Etrian Odyssey, where I just find the repetition a bit monotonous after a while. So it being stripped down to that, does nothing for me. It's not the games fault or anything really.

Alright, so I dropped from 60 Insight to under 20, and enemy damage didn't go down. Not sure it's legit that Insight is tied to enemy damage.

I dunno what I'm not sure what to do now, E
brietas
has cleaned me out of blood vials. But I'm sure taking a break and farming blood vials will help me get gud rather than actually fighting her.

welcome to the lowest point in any souls game that exists or will exist.

Hopefully I'll exit the dungeon a better player.

Same. Beat the boss on the second try. Stunlock with R1, shoot to stun more while stamina regens, then back to R1. Now to get to that dreaded second boss...

Tried parrying at first, but in one instance it recovered from the stagger absurdly fast so I couldn't land a visceral attack and got killed. Also, the stutter seems to be more pronounced during this fight and it's quite distracting.

I'll try the Blades of Mercy tomorrow and see how they fare. If that fails, there are always poison knives and pillars...

Does the Defiled Dog have new attack patterns? The one in Pthumerian was really easy.

Bro I am stuck on her too I think I will go grind a bit... my level is 66 atm so I am going to try to farm blood chunks and level up my various weapons.

Not really, you just have 50% less health, which makes the fight really dangerous. I can tank the charge if I'm at 95% health or above.

I think I need a new controller... the circle button doesn't have the same feel as the others. Haven't even used the controller much.

So had my second proper sit down with this game playing with my friend again. We were just passed Cleric Beast when we stumbled across F
ather
G which was pretty unpleasant. My mate was on controls and did what he could but we were dead pretty fast. I was trying to shelve for later 'cause he seemed like a handful but my friend was insistent I should also try and fight him. I think he just wanted to see him kick the sh*t out of me like what happened to him. But I got him on my first try so I'm pretty stoked about that :-). It was a crazy epic fight. Even more wondrous is that the share button actually worked for the first time ever:

Disclaimer: still working on the whole parry follow up thing.

I just can't...
Spend a couple of hours doing Lower Loran and Isz to farm the damn jellys for Ihyll, and when I finally got them ... and Now I need Blood Ritual 5 (because obviously I used them for Loran and Isz).

Fuck, I like the Chalices themselves but I'm tired of this item farming. I really don't feel like repeating more Chalices for these items...

Light, fast enemies will be a cakewalk now. Giant bosses that need to staggered will now be a pain in the ass.
Yep, sounds about right. The whip makes most mobs in the game trivial with its speed and reach. But against most bosses that reach goes out of the window and the cane can't stagger for crap. Definitely requires a different play style than the stronger and slower weapons.

Plus you can easily just buy max stock with 20 in your inventory and 99 in your storage and not really worry about them for a while. Once you get to the areas where they stop dropping much you're making more than enough Echoes to just go buy them much quicker than farming them.

I usually buy vials whenever I got echoes left over from leveling up.
Never had to farm for it but at time it got close.

The problem with Estus Flask is enemies don't drop them, so if you're low you gotta go back to the bonfire.

Beat Defiled Fire Dog! Took maybe 7-8 tries. I stayed locked on and whipped his head. Took all my vials, had to Bone Marrow Ash and shoot a lot at the end since I had 5% health left.

Blood Ritual 5 farming is easy, check YouTube.

Here it is: http://youtu.be/RQ-rC0HD5To

You go where he went in the video and get the blood. Then, you erase the chalice and do the video again. It takes 5 minutes per run. Searching the chalice and setting it up each time takes no materials as long as you've created one on your own once.

Phase 1: He's slow. Parry and Vis.
Phase 2: Dodge toward him which puts you behind him. Get in 1-3 hits. Repeat.
Phase 3: Go range. Bone marrow + Gun. Bottles. If he's still alive, back up, use a charge R2 long range attack, he's aggressive and will run into it. Ludwig is good for it.

I'm not even complaining about blood vials, but saying the problem is someone is using too many isn't helpful at all. People are of different skill levels. They are there to be used, not hoarded.

I just started up Dark Souls 2 HD on the PS4 to see all the new stuff and the DLC which I never bought for the original version.

I fucking MISS Blood Vials. Estus flasks suck to use and are so obnoxiously slow. I never had a problem with breaking the pace to go farm Vials since I'd just buy them when I got to areas where they didn't drop. Never once in the game did Blood Vials annoy me. I hate having so few Estus' and how annoying they are to use.

Man I miss how easy it is to parry in Bloodborne too. And the Rally mechanic (getting HP back from attacking right away).

If you find you're having trouble parrying him don't bother, you don't need to and whiffing leaves you open. it's a funner fight if you don't anyway.
Just get a couple hits in here and there, focus on learning his moves and how to dodge them, and just keep up the dodge. Rely on your dodge attacks. I suggest using the cleaver, it's faster.

I hope if they do Chalice dungeons again they build them into the main world next time. Would be crazy to wander into a dungeon and not really it's random. Then return later on and woah it's different! I can't really be bothered with them when they're not part of the world.

It was
Loren Darkbeast, which is basically the Paarl Darkbeast with four times as many hit points, in a massive arena, and it moves faster and is harder to stun than Paarl.

I was also being stubborn and probably could have done it in fewer attempts if I had taken a break to think about it more, because I eventually slept on it and got it in 5 thereafter.

Like the
Abhorrent Darkbeast?
he was tough. Moveset nothing like any other enemy. I don't believe I ever dodged his long quick jab.

welp, thanks a lot! Seems like it wasn't that hard.
Honestly, I completely forgot I needed no items for that...

That's bullshit.
Some enemies get new attacks and moves that's it.
But the overall game difficulty isn't tide to insight.

I use blood vials to keep my HP topped off whenever I get to 75% of my HP. I have yet to even run out of the vials because there's just so many from the stuff I kill plus the occasional purchases after I level up.

Now bullets, on the other hand, I find myself purchasing more of those than the vials. =/

I asker this a few pages ago but never got a response. Where does the Chikage drop in the chalice dungeons? I can't get it from the main story since the
Queen is dead
and I can't revive her since the elevator to
Ebrieas
is broken. Anyone can help?

yes insight does not affect enemy hit points or their attack power. However certain enemies gain moves at higher insight that dramatically increase their damage potential and make it harder for you to hit them. So while neither increases its creates the effect that they do.

Thanks Fami! So after I defeat the queen I'll go into the Defiled dungeon. Thanks

Bunch of archived Glyph Codes for Dungeons there. Lots of them with Chikage.
Thanks! Are there any benefits to using an uncanny or lost weapon?

Any tips on how to kill those black dogs that have a person walking with them (you 1st see them in Central Pt chalice d3)

I have cleared them many times but the only way I can do it is by Unloading cannon on them. I literally get mauled to death once they reach me. They attack so fast you can even roll. I would say 2/3 of my total non-boss chalices deaths are to those black dogs.

I like the Isc chalices because I never saw that mob... lol
